SOSV is the most active deep tech venture capital firm globally, investing at pre-seed (or at startup inception) supporting visionary founders intent on making a profound impact on human and planetary health. SOSV HAX is one of SOSV's three deeply resourced locations, helping hard tech founders tap into the world’s ecosystems for real-world product development, manufacturing and fundraising in Newark, NJ. Each year, SOSV makes roughly 60 pre-seed investments of up to $550K each, as well as another 150 follow-on investments in deep tech companies. The pre-seed founders spend 4–6 months working side-by-side with SOSV General Partners and the broader team of experts in science and engineering, design and product development, supply chain and product-market fit. Additionally, founders gain access to each location’s office space and equipped lab space.

    Decarbonizing heavy industry is one of the hardest problems in climate. SOSV portfolio company NOC Energy just raised a $2.7M Seed round led by 360 Capital, SOSV and Desai Ventures to take on just that. Sectors like cement and glass rely on fossil fuels to reach temperatures as high as 1,500°C. NOC's solution? An induction-based, high-temperature electric hot gas generator that can integrate directly into existing facilities. ⚡ Hybrid flexibility: Operators can switch between electricity & fossil fuels based on real-time cost 🔧 Built for durability: Induction coils stay at room temp, avoiding the wear & tear of traditional high-heat systems 🔋 Thermal storage: The system stores heat for hours, enabling use of low-cost renewable energy when it’s available NOC has already logged 14,000+ hours in a live industrial drying application.     Two big milestones for SOSV / SOSV HAX portfolio company Aspect Aerospace 🚀 They recently shared with Jason Rainbow at SpaceNews: ▪️ $1.9M Direct-to-Phase II (D2P2) SBIR award from the U.S. Space Force ▪️ $500K pre-seed investment from SOSV But what’s really interesting is how they’re rethinking spacecraft design. 🛰️ Instead of launching a single, expensive spacecraft, Aspect Aerospace is can deploy a "𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧-𝐚-𝐛𝐨𝐱", where a single host satellite (about the size of a dorm fridge) can carry, independently task, and deploy up to 100 single-board satellites, one-by-one or all at once for rapid response, on-demand missions. Think: real-time response to events like floods, where a host satellite can release an entire constellation to monitor conditions as they unfold.
