Our quarterly update is live! Pete Janney, Greg Cipolaro, Logan Scott, and Ben Lawsky break down a challenging Q1 for bitcoin and what's ahead in Q2 2026.   The highlights: bitcoin dropped 22.5% in Q1 under pressure from the stalled Clarity Act, quantum and AI fears, and geopolitical conflict, but has shown resilience since the Iran situation escalated, outperforming gold and silver while behaving as many institutional investors had hoped.   Behind the scenes, institutional adoption accelerated. Several top-10 global banks announced custody and ETF products, new capital structures like preferred equity offerings are driving incremental bitcoin demand, and the traditional finance/crypto convergence continues.   The big question for Q2: Can the Clarity Act get back on track in May before midterm politics complicate the path? The team give their prediction and explain why the window is narrowing fast.   Watch the full conversation here: https://lnkd.in/efgeZr78

Q1 2026 is now behind us, and although bitcoin delivered a weak performance overall, it stood out as one of the few assets to gain amid the Iran conflict, underscoring its importance during periods of geopolitical stress. We unpack all of the events from the quarter, as well as highlight some important events that institutional investors should keep their eye on in coming quarters. The Clarity Act is the most consequential piece of digital asset legislation on the table right now, and its path forward is anything but certain. In our latest episode, Pete Janney sits down with Ben Lawsky, NYDIG's Global Head of Public Policy and Regulatory Affairs, to discuss the competing interests between the banking lobby, crypto industry, and White House that are shaping negotiations, how an unresolved stablecoin yield provision derailed the bill's momentum, and why the next few weeks could determine whether we see a comprehensive market structure framework or a prolonged legislative stalemate. Worth a watch for anyone tracking the regulatory landscape. https://lnkd.in/e2wHuC4t

New sources of bitcoin demand are emerging. Watch Greg Cipolaro and Pete Janney discuss how perpetual preferred stock issuance is helping digital asset treasury companies raise capital to buy more bitcoin, what that means for market structure, and why the current drawdown looks very different from 2022. https://lnkd.in/efstVqit

MSTR’s STRC variable rate preferred equity has been a primary driver of bitcoin demand lately, with the company’s preferred equity liabilities now greater than its convertible debt.  These instruments are not traditional credit, however. They are actively managed, BTC-supported liabilities where capital markets access, not cash flow, is the key factor. A powerful flywheel is at play, but the dynamic can halt if market confidence waivers.  Read the NYDIG analysis:   https://lnkd.in/gan9tany
