Excited to be at PyCon DE & PyData today! I’ll be joining a panel with founders and investors who’ve seen the startup journey from very different angles—building companies, backing them, and working closely with teams across Germany’s AI and open-source scene. We’re skipping the usual buzzwords and polished success stories and instead having a real conversation about what it actually takes to get from idea to company. As a business angel with encourageventures e.V., I get to see firsthand how ideas turn into real companies and grow into successful businesses. Joining me on stage: Sara Jourdan — from academia into AI founder life (and Forbes 30 Under 30), now building Genow Jovana Walter, CFA — Managing Partner at Futury Capital with a strong background across finance & venture Carlina Bennison — Co-leading the AI Startup Rising program at hessian.AI We will cover topics, like how people actually get started, what’s behind the typical startup myths, what technical founders often underestimate, how to find the right people, networks, funding etc. Honestly, there’s no shortage of talent or ideas in the open-source & AI space. What’s often missing is clarity on where to start, the right connections—and sometimes just the confidence to go for it. If you’re around, come say hi. Alexander C. S. Hendorf
