Meet Intro, a new collection of handles created by Snøhetta’s product design team in partnership with the renowned Italian handle maker OLIVARI. This collaboration combines more than a hundred years of Italian craftsmanship with a focus on precision and detail. To designers, a door handle is more than just hardware. It is one of the most human aspects of architecture, offering a first point of contact with a space people use every day, often without thinking about it. The design follows a simple sequence of movements: approach, grip, turn, and release. Each step has been thoughtfully considered as part of a quiet routine in daily life. Instead of adding another bold object, the goal is to improve what people already know. The result is a handle that feels balanced, easy to use, and almost unnoticeable, yet clearly present when in use. As one of the few guaranteed physical interactions with architecture, the door handle offers a moment to quite literally shake hands with a building. A handle shapes first impressions and helps people move between spaces. With a matching window handle, the Intro collection creates a unified, thoughtful look, making every entry and exit feel purposeful. Read more: https://lnkd.in/eBHWrEHm

About us
Snøhetta is an international integrated architecture and design firm. The practice has a global presence, with offices spanning from Oslo, Paris, and Innsbruck, to New York, Hong Kong, Shenzhen, and Melbourne. For almost 40 years, Snøhetta has designed some of the world’s most notable public and cultural projects. Snøhetta kick-started its career in 1989 with the competition-winning entry for the new library of Alexandria, Egypt. This was later followed by the commission for the Norwegian National Opera and Ballet in Oslo, and the National September 11 Memorial Museum Pavilion at the World Trade Center in New York City, among many others. Since its inception, the practice has maintained its original transdisciplinary approach, and often integrates a combination of architecture, landscape architecture, interior architecture, product design and art across its projects. The collaborative nature between Snøhetta's different disciplines is an essential driving force of the practice.

My 2026 shooting schedule began in frigid Busan, South Korea where I had the opportunity to document the construction progress of Snøhetta's Busan Opera House. It was an incredible time to capture the project, with its bespoke structure fully exposed just before the glass enclosure comes in. I love being on site to capture the complexity of the engineering marvels that will eventually lay beneath the finished surfaces. There’s an honesty to photographing a project at this stage that I continue to be drawn to. I can’t believe it’s been nearly 14 years since this design scheme was announced the winner of an international competition. These projects are a grind. Looking forward to checking in on the progress the next time I’m in Korea. For Salone del Mobile.Milano 2026, Snøhetta shapes VitrA Bathrooms' installation at Interni Magazine MATERIAE as a quiet exploration of transformation – where raw clay, guided by heat and human touch, becomes something enduring, clean, and alive with purpose. Drawing on elemental forces – water, light, scent, and sound – the space reflects both ancient knowledge and modern innovation. It echoes a shared vision; that materials can evolve, be renewed, and re-enter the cycle. Together, Snøhetta and VitrA trace a subtle journey from origin to rebirth – where craft, technology, and nature speak the same language. Renaissance of the Real is a multisensory installation by Annabelle Schneider, presented by Snøhetta together with USM Modular Furniture at Salone del Mobile.Milano. Located at Fondazione Luigi Rovati, the installation encourages visitors to take a break from the fast-paced digital life and reconnect with their senses. Blending structure and softness, the iconic USM Haller system becomes a spatial framework for a responsive, cocoon-like environment – exploring how carefully designed spaces can restore our presence, perception, and human connection in an increasingly digital world. Shaped by Snøhetta’s architectural approach, the installation brings together architecture, landscape, and human experience – serving as both a sculptural feature in the museum garden and a quiet, personal retreat. Renaissance of the Real will be on display at Fondazione Luigi Rovati in Milan from April 21 to 26. Read more about the project: https://lnkd.in/eAzivMhP
