Search intent is central to SEO… and a bit of a mystery. You’ll never truly know what a searcher was thinking when they type their query into Google, but here’s the thing: Google probably does 🤯 After all, it’s seen trillions of searches, and its entire business depends on delivering the “right” results. So when the SERP speaks, it’s worth listening. By analyzing how Google chooses to structure the page (organic results, snippets, shopping, maps, etc.), we get powerful clues about what kind of content searchers want, and this is where things get interesting. Real search intent is a blend of what people search and how Google responds. That means a smart SEO strategy doesn’t just chase keywords, it interprets them 💡 We’ve broken down a flexible framework for classifying search intent. So if you’re looking to rank and resonate, this one’s for you: https://bit.ly/4l8k9AS

This will help you understand the risks and opportunities compared to your peers. To get you on your way, we’ve identified the four key challenges in measuring AI visibility: 1. Adapting to tracking visibility and brands over traffic and domains 2. Determining what counts as “ranking” 3. Researching prompts to target and track 4. With traditional SEO, you primarily care about your own site showing up on the SERP and, hopefully, getting the click. With GEO — and perhaps also with top-of-funnel SEO going forward — a click in the generated response is very unlikely, so you are playing primarily for brand exposure. In other words, you care about the mention, rather than about the explicit linked citation. This means that in the grounding searches that underpin LLM responses, it’s less about who ranks, and more about whether your brand is mentioned in a meaningful way.
