World Landscape Architecture Month (WLAM), celebrated each April and led by the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA), recognizes the critical role landscape architects play as design leaders, environmental stewards and master planners who elevate public spaces, strengthen communities and integrate nature into the built environment. Today is Earth Day, a global observance established in 1970 to raise awareness and inspire action to protect the environment. Landscape Architecture and Earth Day are deeply connected through the profession’s long-standing commitment to resilience, sustainability and the protection, preservation and restoration of natural systems. Landscape architects thoughtfully integrate green infrastructure, native plant communities, biodiversity, and innovative water management strategies into their designs. Together, these approaches promote ecological health while advancing the public health, safety, and welfare of the communities they serve. At Haskell, this spirit is embodied by the Landscape Architecture team led by Practice Area Leader Craig Handley, RLA, ISA, alongside Design Associates Judah Spears and Alex Pomeroy, Associate ASLA. Their early, collaborative involvement in projects ensures that architecture, infrastructure, natural systems, and existing conditions work in harmony. The result is thoughtful, cost-effective, and highly functional design solutions that exemplify best-in-class design thinking. “Haskell’s Landscape Architects deliver exceptional value by seamlessly blending site constraints, building functionality, and natural systems, said Chris Flagg, FASLA, Vice President and Operations Principal, Public Sector Buildings Design.
