Proud to announce that we received the Outstanding New Organization award at this year's Student Engagement Awards! When we initially split The Hack Pack off from the UGA SCS as a dedicated CTF team in Spring 2025, we had not even picked out a proper name or logo yet, and our organization consisted of fewer than ten members. In a single year we achieved multiple national-tier results, organized hands-on hacking workshops with guest speakers on a scale that none of us had initially conceived of, and are now brainstorming plans for a full-fledged cybersecurity research lab. However, none of this would be possible without the dedicated community of cybersecurity students at UGA who continue to show up and contribute to our events and competitive results week after week. This is your award as much as ours. We look forward to another fruitful year with our sister organization, the UGA Society For Cyber Security. Come celebrate with us next Tuesday, where we will be hosting a Cyber Jeopardy event to cap off the semester! • School’s young faculty making strong impact!

🎤 Last week, I was honored to be invited to deliver a 𝙆𝙚𝙮𝙣𝙤𝙩𝙚 𝙏𝙖𝙡𝙠 at the Artificial Super Intelligence (ASI) Conference 2026, organized by KSU PLOT in collaboration with IEEE CIS. In my talk, 𝙏𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙨𝙛𝙤𝙧𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙀𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙮𝙙𝙖𝙮 𝙎𝙥𝙖𝙘𝙚𝙨 𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙤 𝙄𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙞𝙜𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙄𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙛𝙖𝙘𝙚𝙨 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙎𝙪𝙥𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙃𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙩𝙝 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙐𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝘽𝙚𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙞𝙤𝙧, I shared a research journey built on our group's work over the past two years, spanning 10 papers across intelligent sensing, health, and behavior understanding. Together, these works explore how we can turn everyday spaces into intelligent interfaces that support health, enable continuous and unobtrusive sensing, and help us better understand human behavior in real-world settings. I am sincerely grateful to the organizers for the kind invitation and to everyone who attended the talk. I am especially thankful to my students and collaborators, whose creativity, dedication, and hard work made this journey possible. #ArtificialIntelligence #AmbientIntelligence #IntelligentSensing #UbiquitousComputing #HealthAI #DigitalHealth #BehaviorUnderstanding #HumanCenteredAI #SmartEnvironments #ContactlessSensing #IEEECIS #KSU #ASI2026

Our hardware day was quite a hit! Beforehand, we had a few quick words about our upcoming participation in the NCL competitions - starting from this semester, we have received a generous grant, enough to cover 22 free vouchers for dedicated members - and the "Live Fire Network King of the Hill" CTF that we are co-hosting during next week's meeting. Don't miss out! We would like to shout out a few special members of our club for their time and dedication with hosting the demos on Tuesday: - Christopher Youmans showed off the wide-ranging capabilities of the Flipper Zero, including setting up an Evil Portal attack with a custom-built webpage - Zayan Hoodani gave the whole club a showcase of foundational lockpicking techniques, including raking and single pin picking - these will work on common consumer locks, notably Masterlocks - Swapnil Roy brought his RTL-SDR kit over and tuned in to local music radio stations, giving the club some good background music while we moved through the stations - Garrett Moore showcased a Man-in-the-Middle attack with an ESP32 Marauder and Bettercap to perform an ARP spoofing attack - our most popular demo by far at the start Afterwards, we held another team dinner at the local Waffle House, where our newest members got a chance to connect with the leadership team in person. • Spend an hour with a representative from Aprio! Aprio is an accounting and business advisory firm with clients across a myriad of industries. This is a chance to learn about maintaining data security through the management of compliance requirements. All students are welcome, especially those interested in cybersecurity or data management. The event will be hosted by the Society for Cybersecurity, a club dedicated to exposing students to the cybersecurity industry through company networking events, educational hack hours, and more. Our meeting with Aprio will be on Wednesday, April 8th from 6:30–7:30 PM in Benson Hall C006. We hope to see you there!

"I want you to be curious. To not just think about 'what does this system do', but also: 'what can I make the system do'?" We were honored to host Andrew (Andy) Green, Ph.D. this Tuesday, who gave an amazing talk about the hacker ethos and what it takes to go into the field of cybersecurity. The NetKotH infrastructure he set up handled our packed classroom of competitors smoothly, and beginners and experienced hackers alike had a blast with cracking into 3 custom systems set up for the occasion. Knowledge of tools like Gobuster and techniques such as rotating SSH keys or directory traversal ended up being vital to solving the challenges provided. Thanks again to all those who joined and participated - we would not be able to do what we do without such a supportive community behind our efforts. Stay tuned for our password cracking workshop, hosted by a top NCL individual performer, on April 7th! Interested in joining a CTF team or receiving updates on future competitions and meetings? Top 8 in the South Conference at Hack The Box’s 2026 Hack The Madness 🏆 What stood out most wasn’t just the placement, it was the range of problems we had to solve on the fly: 🦠 Reverse engineering binaries (Pwn) 🏭 Interacting with real-world SCADA / ICS systems 🐍 Breaking down gradient descent machine learning models Big takeaway: Cybersecurity isn’t just “hacking” anymore. The field is evolving into AI, hardware, infrastructure, and everything in between. Across multiple rounds, our team consistently placed 1st and solved every challenge thrown at us. Grateful to be part of The Hack Pack and excited to keep pushing deeper into offensive security. #Cybersecurity #HackTheBox #CTF #EthicalHacking #Pwn #MachineLearning #ICS #InfoSec

The Hack Pack has placed top 8 in the nation during HackTheBox's 2026 "Hack The Madness" event! We were honored to receive an invite from Chandler Anderson to join the tournament hosting its second-ever bracket. Along the way, the team grew closer as we coordinated across busy schedules and pushed ourselves to the limit solving new CTF categories, adapting and preparing on the fly. These included challenges involving hardware/Industrial Control Systems, Machine Learning, and mobile device software in addition to the standard CTF fare (e.g. RE, cryptography, web exploitation). As the spring semester kicks into high gear, we won't be slowing down either - keep an eye out for Andrew (Andy) Green, Ph.D. of BSides fame, who will be hosting a hands-on CTF on 3/31 that builds on some of the skills we learned from NCAE. We've also prepared an array of guest speakers and workshops that will have something for newbies and veterans both. Our web exploitation workshop will be held tomorrow, at the usual time and place (Tuesdays 6:30-8:00, SLC 145) - feel free to ask us any questions about our future plans if you are able to attend.
