Updates

  • New consumer protection rules for CA residential solar and storage projects take effect this week, and we’re here to help you get ready.☀️🫡 The rules adopted by the California Public Utilities Commission require savings estimates based on 12 months of verified interval data in contracts and interconnection applications. Using interval data in your contracts doesn’t just meet the new requirements; it helps your customers make confident decisions and strengthens trust across California’s solar and storage industry. With UtilityAPI, your team can securely access verified interval data from Pacific Gas and Electric Company, Southern California Edison (SCE), and San Diego Gas & Electric to stay compliant, protect your license, and close deals faster. Review the requirements and get ready now 👉 https://bit.ly/47utRcQ

📢 📢 The Green Button Alliance is proud to welcome Josh Keeling as the new Chairman of GBA's Board of Directors! ⚡ As GBA’s new Chairman, Josh who is Chief Commercial Officer of UtilityAPI - a long-time and pivotal GBA Member Company - brings extensive industry experience in advancing open #GreenButton utility data standards and Certified Green Button utility platforms. Josh will leverage his deep expertise in growing the market for #utilitydata integration platforms that prioritize customer authorization, privacy, & scalability; and that utilize standardized, interoperable data to accelerate #DER adoption in support of a two-way grid. “Josh’s proven leadership and strategic, forward-thinking approach will be invaluable for driving the next phase of open Green Button standards and widespread access to new energy, water, and resource-reporting solutions; smarter resource management; and enhanced grid resilience for all stakeholders," said Jeremy J. Roberts, Executive Director, GBA. Josh succeeds the GBA’s founding chairman, Syed Mir, who recently retired from London Hydro after serving as VP, Corporate Services & CIO for over 15 years and as chairman of the GBA for over 10 years. Mir led the Alliance in driving utility adoption of open Green Button #datasharing standards across North America that enable utility customers and third parties with digital access to their utility data and opened markets for a wide array of new #energydata-driven platforms, services, & solutions. Today, Green Button solutions are available in nearly all 50 states; in the Canadian provinces of Ontario and Nova Scotia, and in the Republic of Korea. Additionally, several U.S. states and two Canadian provinces have Green Button #dataaccess regulations in place or have legislation in progress. The GBA thanks Mir for his vision, strategic leadership and years of service. In addition to appointing Josh Keeling as Chairman, GBA’s board also named current directors to serve in officer positions on the board's Executive Committee. The board named director Bob Champagne, Chief Innovation & Digital Transformation Officer, BHC Global as Vice Chairman and named director Victoria Wang, Manager, Digital Channels & Analytics, Enbridge Gas as Secretary on the board's Executive Committee. The GBA is proud to welcome these strategic, future-forward energy leaders to our board as we drive the next phase of standards-based utility data innovation and growth! ⚡ Read the Full Announcement: https://lnkd.in/g8nA9qB4 ➡️ The GBA's Participating Member elections for seats on GBA's 2026-2027 board are currently underway and member-elected directors will be announced in November. • ☀️ Countdown to the new CPUC Consumer Protection Rules: 10 Days Starting November 1, all new residential solar and storage contracts in California must include 12 months of hourly usage data. Here’s how UtilityAPI helps your team stay ahead: ✅ Access the interval data required to meet the CPUC’s new rules and protect your CSLB license ✅ Instantly import that data into Aurora Solar and OpenSolar with our free-to-use API key integrations ✅ Collect all the data you need on demand — no long-term contract commitments Get the interval data you need to stay compliant and build customer trust today 👇 🔗 https://bit.ly/47utRcQ

  • Important changes are coming for California’s residential solar and storage market. ☀️ The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) is updating its requirements for how installers calculate and disclose bill savings estimates to customers, impacting all new residential solar and storage projects across the state. Understand what’s changing and see how UtilityAPI can help your team prepare. 👇 🔗 http://bit.ly/47utRcQ #Solar #California #Data

Very quietly some big changes are coming to California's residential solar and storage market. ☀️ ⚡ 🔋 Starting November 1st all new residential solar-only and solar plus storage projects installed in any investor-owned service territory must use 12 months of interval data to estimate and disclose estimated savings. Good news for consumer; bad news for installers not used to accessing customer interval data. Given how few residential installers know the details of these new requirements (I can count them on one hand), and because I am recovering CPUC regulatory, I wrote a guide that breaks it all down, including the three viable options for getting interval data required. 1️⃣ Walking utility account holders through downloading the data themselves (friction, churn) 2️⃣ Registering with each of the big three IOU's data-sharing platforms (accurate, technical, and slow) 3️⃣ Using data access platform's like UtilityAPI (fast, scalable, compliance-ready) California Solar & Storage Association California Public Utilities Commission Aurora Solar OpenSolar Solar Energy Industries Association Residential Solar Association Ohm Analytics https://lnkd.in/eaaTtNBM
