🔍Downstream correspondent banking plays a critical role in maintaining access to cross-border finance – especially for smaller and emerging-market institutions that have, all too often, been the victim of global bank de-risking. But it also raises important questions around transparency, oversight and risk. In this 𝘧𝘭𝘰𝘸 article, Deutsche Bank’s Matthew Probershteyn, Head of Institutional Cash Management, North America and Head of Institutional Cash & Trade, Engagement, Controls & Risk Oversight, explores how downstream (or ‘nested’) correspondent banking is stepping up, and how banks are strengthening control frameworks and visibility so that joined-up risk management goes hand-in-hand with supporting local banks. 🗨️ As Probershteyn notes, “𝘐𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘹𝘵, 𝘥𝘰𝘸𝘯𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘮 𝘣𝘢𝘯𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘴 𝘭𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘴𝘧𝘦𝘳𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘬 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘥𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘣𝘶𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘢𝘤𝘳𝘰𝘴𝘴 𝘢 𝘯𝘦𝘵𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬 𝘰𝘧 𝘪𝘯𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘵𝘶𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴.” Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/gm449tJg #CorrespondentBanking #RiskManagement #Payments
