Salmonella

Both of the iguanas in the upper picture initially tested positive for Salmonella sp. after being purchased.

The iguana on the upper left tested negative for Salmonella sp. after four months of NutriBAC df supplements being added to his food and water. The iguana on the upper right however did not recieve NutriBAC df supplements and remained positive for Salmonella sp.

Salmonella can not be seen by the naked eye. The image to the right is a magnified image (6000x). Image

Salmonella can often be found in the intestinal tract of reptiles. A reptile with Salmonella can possibly infect its owner.Salmonella in iguanas is a health problem that can affect their owners sometimes more than the reptile itself. Beneficial bacteria, known as probiotics, have long been known to aid the intestinal tract of humans. Now a product is available for salmonella-positive reptiles. Many reptile-related diseases can be traced to the health of the reptiles intestinal tract. A good, well-balanced probiotic offers a safe approach for the gut of reptiles. Many have said that the use of NutriBAC has increased their reptile’s appetite, reversed constipation, and stopped regurgitation following feedings. A good probiotic or beneficial bacteria, like NutriBAC, is simply a “tool” in the husbandry of reptiles and amphibians. NutriBAC is the only probiotic patented for use in reptiles and amphibians.

The uniqueness of the combination of “good” bacteria in NutriBAC df is that they are grown together before being harvested. Other commercial DFMs (Direct Feed Microbials) are grown separately then blended together.

Growing them together affirms their compatibility. NutriBAC df is harvested live (viable) prior to the maturation log phase which assures its stability (longer life) in the gut.

Nutribac

When bacteria are released in the intestine of the reptile or amphibian they are capable to continue their growth phase, thus extending their life phase in the animal’s gut and increasing their efficacy.
