Running on your computer lets Layerwise work with what you already have. It runs Codex and Claude Code right there, so you can build with your ChatGPT or Claude plan and keep your skills and MCP servers. Your code lives in a folder on your computer, so an outage on our side never puts it at risk, and you can open it in your own editor or terminal anytime. The agent installs packages and runs commands on your machine, and the preview updates the moment a file changes. Your apps still go live on the web, at a layerwise.site address or your own domain.
Yes. Free includes one public project, $5 in monthly credits, and up to 10 messages per day with supported open-weight models. You do not need a credit card to start.
Every plan includes monthly credits, and paid plans are billed monthly or annually. AI while you build and everything your published apps use, including traffic, databases, file storage, and email, draw from that one balance. AI is charged at each model provider's token price. Any team can buy more credits at any time, and purchased credits never expire. Review your balance, costs, and invoices in Billing and Usage. See billing and usage for details.
We email your team when 25% and 10% of your credits are left, and again when they run out. Your published apps then switch to read-only mode: pages keep loading, while sign-ins, form submissions, uploads, and email pause. Read-only apps can use up to $1 of usage a month on us; past that, they pause. Adding credits or upgrading brings everything back right away.
It stays put. Databases and files keep using credits while an app is paused, so adding credits first covers that balance. If a paused app isn't restored within 90 days, we delete its database and files. We email you several times before then, and you can export everything until that date.
No. Each plan has one price for the whole team, so inviting a teammate does not add a seat fee. Pro includes up to 10 team members and Business includes unlimited members. The team shares one balance of credits.
Yes. If you use Claude Code, choose My Claude for a project or chat. Those conversations run on the Claude Code on your computer, draw on your Claude plan instead of Layerwise credits, and use the same project, preview, and publishing flow. My Claude works on every plan. Your plan's daily message limit still applies. See Build with your Claude plan.
Yes. If your ChatGPT plan includes Codex, connect it in Settings → Account and choose My Codex for a project or chat. Those conversations draw on your ChatGPT plan instead of Layerwise credits and use the same project, preview, and publishing flow. My Codex works on every plan, so you can keep building even when your team's credits run out. Your plan's daily message limit still applies. See Build with your ChatGPT plan.
Yes. Apps can send sign-in codes and transactional email, such as receipts, order updates, and booking confirmations, with no email service to set up. Each email uses a fraction of a cent in credits. Sign-in emails and app emails have separate daily limits for each project and for the team, so app email never blocks sign-in. Free includes 20 app emails and 10 sign-in emails per day. Marketing email and newsletters are not allowed. See Email for details.
That kind of email stops until midnight in your team's time zone, and Layerwise emails your team. Sign-in emails and app emails have separate limits, so one never uses up the other. Upgrade your plan for higher daily limits; Enterprise plans have no Layerwise email limit.
Every project you publish gets its own production database, billed per GB-month from your credits. On Free, a database can hold up to 100 MB. On paid plans, each one can grow to 10 GB, the most Cloudflare allows for a single database. Upgrading from Free raises the limit right away.
We notify you by email and in the app as a database fills up, at 50%, 75%, 85%, 95%, and 100% of its limit. At 100%, the published app becomes read-only: pages keep loading, but it can't save changes until you free up space. On Free, upgrading also brings it back right away.
Every project has its own Storage for images, videos, documents, and other files, billed per GB-month from your credits. Free includes 1 GB per project with files up to 10 MB, and files in the trash count toward it. Paid plans have no Storage limit, and each file can be up to 5 GB.
On Free, we email you as a project's Storage fills up, at 50%, 75%, 85%, 95%, and 100% of its 1 GB limit. A full project becomes read-only: the published app stays online and files can still be opened and deleted, but new uploads pause until you free up space or upgrade. Paid plans have no Storage limit, so uploads stop only if your team runs out of credits.
You can manage or cancel your subscription from the team Billing page. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. Review the available plans and limits before changing plans.
You retain rights to the content you create with Layerwise, including generated applications. The code is in your local project workspace, and you can connect GitHub to keep it in your own repository. You are responsible for reviewing generated code and any third-party licenses before deployment. See the Terms of Service.
Available models depend on your team plan. Free includes supported open-weight models. Paid plans add advanced models from providers such as Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google. Use the model picker to see the current models available to your team.
Project files and previews run in local workspaces. Layerwise stores account, team, project, billing, and usage information to operate the service, and uses service providers for hosting, authentication, analytics, and diagnostics. We do not sell personal information. Read the Privacy Policy and security overview for details.
