I must say that I have never received any sort of professional hand massage to compare this to, so this is just a rough idea of what it is like without that context. Construction seems very nice, it’s a pliable plastic rubbery feel, that has some give. So, its not hard plastic resting on you. I can understand why the decision was made, but it still seems weird having the controls only on one side of the hand. When you are using it on the right hand, you can lay it on its "face" and because the control area is wide, it does not rock. It charged fast and its nice that it’s a standard USB-C charge port. Seems like there is only two zones, "hand" and "wrist". It would be better if each of the different fingers and palm areas were individually controlled, so you can squeeze each of the fingers separately. It heats up really quickly, I would say in less than 5 seconds. It’s a nice gentle relaxing heat, equal to a low setting on a heating pad. I think this heating is perfectly fine for what this product is. The inner lining is very nice and soft feeling, and does have some stretch to it. Its nice that you can pick the mode, and it will auto default to the same color intensity, but you can change the intensity if you so choose. I cannot say how long the battery lasts, but I have done several sessions ranging from 3-5 minutes, and I think that is more than I was expecting. It is rather quiet for being a compressor that inflates the different areas of the inside. Red Intensity, not the mode, is almost to the point were it is uncomfortable in its strength of squeezing. I would recommend this product if you are in the market for something like this. Below is my description of the different modes.

Blue (Vitality Mode) - gentle squeezing, pulsating back and forth, in an almost rocking motion.

Green (Relaxation Mode) - squeeze and hold for longer periods of time. Squeeze the hand/fingers and hold, then squeeze the wrist and hold.

Red (Intensive Mode) - Really loves to squeeze the wrist and hold it for long periods of time. It will squeeze the wrist and then let go by 10-15% and then squeeze again. It will focus on the hand, but only seems to at a disproportionate rate to the wrist.

I am so impressed with this hand massager and how quickly it became part of my daily routine. The heat setting is wonderful and provides a soothing warmth that really feels good on my hands.

The massage itself is powerful, and I love that it has three different settings so I can choose the level that works best for me. I noticed almost immediately that it helped relieve the pain and stiffness I often experience in my hands.

It is extremely comfortable and convenient to use, whether I am sitting on the couch or at my desk. I also appreciate that it is lightweight and easy to move around whenever I need it.

I always read the reviews here before buying the product, I didn't this time. I saw the words hand massage and assumed there was a feature that included some vibration or/or rolling over the hand. There is not! This massager simply squeezes your hand

like a blood pressure cuff, but with different levels of intensity, and some heat as well. This actually hurt my wrist. I do physical and repetitive work throughout the day and this tool, I am sorry to say, does nothing to releave the discomfort and soreness in my hands.

I love Bob and Brad and have purchased and enjoyed their products before, but this particular gadget did not work for me.

I’ve been using the BOB AND BRAD hand massager for a few weeks now, and honestly, I didn’t expect to love it this much. I have mild arthritis and some carpal tunnel symptoms, and this little device brings real relief. What makes it different is the way it separates and massages each finger — it feels way more precise than other hand massagers I’ve tried. It doesn’t use any hard rollers either, which I really appreciate.

The heat is amazing — it gets warm fast and helps a lot when my hands feel stiff or cold. I usually use it at the end of the day after work, and it’s become part of my wind-down routine. I like that there are different settings, depending on how intense I want the massage to be. Even the quiet hum is relaxing — you can barely hear it, which makes it perfect to use while watching TV or working.

It’s also super lightweight and easy to use. The buttons are big and clear, which makes a difference for people like my mom who don’t love complicated tech. I’ve already recommended it to a couple of friends, and I’m thinking of getting one as a gift for my dad. If your hands get sore or tired, this thing is absolutely worth a try.

Massages but the fingers are in a straight line, making my pinky finger left out. Not good for small hands. Big plastic ball ( not part of the Massage) that digs into my hand between my thumb and pointer finger. 5/10

The Good: this massager is well fabricated. The soft housing was surprisingly nice and the fit and finish all appear high end for an at-home consumer device. Unlike some similar devices, there are separate compartments for each finger and the unit also has a warming/heat function.

The Bad: The good stops at its looks. Functionally, the "massager" operates like a blood pressure cuff, alternately inflating and deflating around your hand and wrist. It's unclear to me exactly how the pressure/mode settings work, as both buttons seemed to do the same thing in terms of changing the lights (from green to blue to red.) One would assume that the "mode" button offered different inflation sequences, but I frankly couldn't tell the difference between any of them and the fact that all the lights change regardless which button you press is further confusing. Regardless of which setting I chose (all green, one green one blue, etc.) the only difference I really noticed was to the pressure.

And the pressure is considerable even on the lowest setting (green). I could tolerate it on medium (blue), but found high (red) to be downright painful. My hands are 3.5" across the palm and 7" from ring finger to wrist and I typically wear a size large glove. Under these metrics, I found the device to be on the small side, which may at least partially explain why I found the pressure excessive. Ultimately, if wrapping your hands in a death grip is a pleasing sensation to you, then by all means enjoy this item.

I have serious, empirically-based concerns, however, about its appropriateness for conditions like carpel tunnel.

Carpel tunnel occurs when the median nerve running under your wrist is compressed, causing tingling, pain and possible nerve damage. What does this item do? It compresses your extremity and, at least in my case, does so right across the very same area where the carpel band is located, effectively simulating the condition. I had surgery 18 months ago and this quickly reintroduced the sensation, which was not at all pleasant. Similarly, my occupational therapist always attempts to open up (i.e. stretch) the palm of my had to release the tension I encounter from overuse/injury. Again, this device does the exact opposite, painfully compressing the area that she's continually tried to stretch and expand. Even when used on the opposite hand, I found that the device left me in considerably more discomfort than when I began.

I took the device to one of my doctors, who tried it herself, and her recommendation was that I immediately discontinue use and return it. I agreed with this assessment. Based on my lengthy time in occupational therapy, I see no logical reason why the machine's operation should aid in the recovery of or alleviate the symptoms from compression-induced injuries, as the marketing clearly claims. Based on the evidence and the device's performance, it seems far more likely to exacerbate existing issues, causing potential further injury.

UPDATE 6/30:

Upon reviewing this feedback, the Bob & Brad Customer Service Team made several attempts to reach out to me, both via Amazon and email, to apologize for the experience and ensure I had received a full refund. Their statement, per their CS Team, was that "[My] feedback has sparked important internal discussions within our team," and they delineated specific steps they were taking to address my issues and improve their product, including:

1) Our engineers are currently recalibrating the air pressure intensity range to ensure gentler low-level settings.

2) We're optimizing the user manual and button labeling to prevent any confusion.

3) We plan to collaborate with rehabilitation specialists to evaluate the product's suitability for sensitive users.

I want to be clear that at no point did anyone from Bob & Brad request that I delete or amend this review. But in a world where customer service is usually lip service, they projected an uncommon willingness to take responsibility for their product and genuine effort in correcting its shortcomings. While I still regard the product, as currently constructed and marketed, to be closer to two stars, this was undoubtedly five star customer service. I am therefore amending my review to a total of three stars, reflecting the totality of my experience with Bob & Brad, and have no qualms about ordering other products from them in the future.

This little hand massager is pretty good. First, I like how lightweight it is. I’ve been using it on one hand while doing some light chores or browsing my computer, and it doesn’t get loose or get in my way since it’s so light. My hands have been sore and stiff lately because of work and this massager has been helping so far.

I put it on the highest mode since that’s what I usually prefer and it has a really great grip and compression and rotation thing going on. My fingers feel super relaxed and warmed up every time I finish and it only takes about 10 minutes so it's not a hassle. It also might not look like it but you can flip the massager to have it fit normally on your other hand as well.

I haven't tried it yet but it says you can put hand cream before using it so it sounds like it would fully massage it into your entire hand.

I'll update this if I face any issues but so far, it's been better than I've expected.

I bought this to hopefully alleviate sore, painful, stiff, arthritic finger joints. I was delighted to find the product was already charged so didn't have to wait the 4 hours charging time before testing it out. It's a remarkable piece of technology. I used it as recommended on the low intensity and vitality massage mode. The sensation is wonderful. The compression chambers inflate cushioning finger and wrist joints, and the heat setting soothes the palm and knuckles. The effect is similar to using a cuff that inflates to take blood pressure. It makes interesting little purring and breathing sounds as it inflates and deflates. It automatically switches off after fifteen minutes - a lovely fifteen-minute zone for pure relaxation - and another fifteen when you place the machine on the other hand. The clicks and whirrs, whilst not loud, are slightly distracting for others sitting in the same room when watching TV, so my preference is to use it in another room! I've used on bare hands and also tried it using CBD balm on gloved hands (10 pairs of plastic gloves included). I don't particularly like the plastic gloves and will invest in soft cotton ones that can be washed and worn again. After "treatment" my hands felt soothed. Fingers on my my right hand are particularly stiff and sore, so whilst the left hand was having "treatment" I did some gentle stretching exercises which seemed easier after having compression and heat. This is a clever piece of kit and whilst it won't alter my condition it will motivate me to keep my hands mobile. And if all else fails, it forces you to enjoy half an hour of gentle massage without leaving home! I highly recommend this Bob & Brad product.
