I’ve been getting these newsletters since #5, I think? (2017-05-23, I don’t think you started numbering them until Axis of Easy #7) and I’ve always enjoyed reading these articles. However, this is the first time I’ve ever posted a comment. I guess that puts me in the “long time listener, first time caller” category.

I wanted to take a crack at this week’s quote about continuing change: It sounds like it was made by James Burke. I remember that for both of his BBC/PBS TV series’ “Connections” and “The Day The Universe Changed”, a central theme was about the inevitability of Change and how we, as a society, need to learn how to manage and adapt to such change.

And if that quote wasn’t by James Burke, then whomever it was sounds a lot like they were channelling him. 🙂

A large contributor to this pattern would be creaking over burdened and bloated bureaucracies shedding well skilled staff via their own fumbled AI efforts, sometimes having to hire them back as contractors, now operating as Solopreneurs.
As fossil fuels get harder (i.e. more costly) to extract, something has to give, and bloated bureacracy is an easy target that will take a beating over the decades to come.
