Wiley Again Recognized as a NLJ Litigation Department of the Year Finalist

Wiley’s Litigation Practice has been named a 2026 finalist for Litigation Department of the Year in the “General Litigation” category by The National Law Journal. This is the second consecutive year Wiley has been shortlisted for this prestigious award.

The practice, which is consistently ranked by Chambers USA and The Legal 500 US, was shortlisted for its work guiding clients through high-stakes litigation across a wide array of industries, including:

• Negotiating a historic $549.5 million settlement in the largest trade-based False Claims Act case and recovery in U.S. history, which stemmed from a $1.8 billion tariff evasion scheme;
• Persuading the Fourth Circuit to preliminarily enjoin a Maryland statute prohibiting retail energy suppliers from truthfully marketing their renewable energy products as environmentally friendly, in a case with significant First Amendment, commercial speech, and interstate commerce implications; and
• Contributing to an appeal persuading the Eighth Circuit to vacate decades-old Federal Communications Commission media ownership restrictions – a historic victory for local television broadcasters that leveraged our cross-disciplinary appellate, TMT, and regulatory capabilities.

The winner will be announced on October 20 at the D.C. Legal Awards in Washington, D.C.
