The Government of Canada has announced more than $118 million through the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) to support 357 research infrastructure projects at 68 postsecondary institutions across the country.
These strategic investments—which will help propel innovation and build a resilient Canada—are made through the CFI’s John R. Evans Leaders Fund (JELF) and College Fund. JELF enables universities to attract and retain world-class research talent by providing the state-of-the-art infrastructure researchers need to succeed, while the College Fund supports projects that enhance the capacity of Canadian colleges to carry out applied research and foster partnerships.
A total of 31 projects led by UBC researchers were awarded a collective $5.8 million in funding through CFI's JELF competition.

Projects supported through the John R. Evans Leaders Fund (JELF) will also receive additional funding through the CFI’s Infrastructure Operating Fund (IOF) to cover the costs of operating the research infrastructure. The total investment of $118,188,220 million includes $27,274,205 million from the IOF.
