Shape What Comes Next: Join Our Board

We are recruiting for two new board members who can bring a fresh perspective, relevant experience, and thoughtful challenge to the Resource Alliance. We’re looking for a new trustee alongside a new chair for our Finance and Audit Committee, with applications open through 05 September.

The Resource Alliance is shaped by people who believe that better ideas, stronger connections, and shared learning can help civil society create greater impact. As the world changes, so does the role of the social impact sector, and the work of those guiding our organisation is felt globally.

We are now inviting applications for two voluntary positions on the Board of the Resource Alliance: a trustee and a chair of the Finance and Audit Committee.

This is your chance to help guide the next chapter of a global organisation that equips, connects, and inspires fundraisers, campaigners, activists, and changemakers to mobilise resources for a just, equitable, and sustainable world. Our trustees provide strategic direction and valuable support, challenging our organisation to remain ambitious, accountable, and responsive.

We’re not looking for one kind of leader or one conventional route into governance. We want to hear from people whose purpose is aligned with our own and who can add something distinctive to our board’s collective experience, thinking, and reach.

Our New Trustee

We are excited to connect with a potential new trustee with experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Foundations & philanthropy
  • Investor & funder engagement
  • Alternative financing & sustainable income development
  • Campaigning, advocacy, & movement building
  • Artificial intelligence & emerging technologies
  • Digital transformation
  • Next-generation leadership & Gen Z perspectives

We are particularly keen to strengthen representation and lived understanding from Africa; East Asia, South East Asia, and the Pacific; Latin America and the Caribbean; and the United Kingdom. Applications from all regions will be warmly welcomed and considered.

Chair of the Finance & Audit Committee

We are seeking a strategic and collaborative financial leader to chair our Finance & Audit Committee and serve as a full member of our board.

The successful candidate will help the Board of the Resource Alliance to oversee financial sustainability, risk, auditing, and long-term planning, while contributing to wider discussions about income diversification and the future resilience of the organisation. Because the Resource Alliance is legally based in the UK, preference will be given to candidates based in the United Kingdom or with significant experience of UK charity finance, governance, audits, and regulation. A professional accountancy qualification is welcomed but is not essential where equivalent senior financial leadership experience can be demonstrated.

You can read a full description of the role here.

What to Know Before You Apply

  • Both positions are voluntary and non-remunerated; reasonable, previously-agreed expenses will be reimbursed.
  • Trustees are appointed for an initial three-year term and may be eligible for one further consecutive term.
  • The Resource Alliance is a global organisation and applications are welcomed from candidates based anywhere in the world, subject to the specific UK experience preference for the finance role.
  • Applications close 05 September 2026.
  • Interviews are expected to take place between 22 and 30 September 2026.
