By design, they can only be dialed from inside the country they serve; that’s what makes them free to the caller. Some consumer brands are legally required to maintain a working complaint line in each country where they operate. A dead line is therefore not only a revenue or customer-service problem; it can also become a compliance problem.&lt;/p&gt; 
 &lt;p style="margin: 0 0 34px;"&gt;There is also the support and engineering time spent reproducing faults that may exist in someone else’s network, alongside the reputational impact. Before working with Klearcom, one cybersecurity company did not hear about its outages from a dashboard.
