Plain-language terms for using Extension.dev.

These are the terms for using Extension.dev. They’re meant to be readable. By using the platform you agree to them; if you don’t, please don’t use it.

Your account

You sign in with GitHub, and you’re responsible for what happens under your account. Keep your credentials safe.

Your content stays yours

You own the extensions and content you create or import. You give me permission to host, build, preview, compile, and publish that content on your behalf. That’s how the platform does its job. Nothing more.

Fair use

  • Don’t build or ship malware, spyware, or anything illegal or that violates someone else’s rights.
  • Don’t abuse, overload, or try to get around the limits, quotas, or security of the platform.
  • Only process data you’re allowed to process.
  • When you publish to a store (Chrome Web Store, Firefox Add-ons, Edge Add-ons), follow that store’s rules.

What it costs

Anything that runs on your own machine, including the open-source Extension.js CLI, is free and is not covered by this section. Work the platform runs for you, such as builds on our machines and generation on our AI key, is free through October 12, 2026. Paid plans start on October 13, 2026 at $29 per workspace per month. There is no checkout today, so a paid plan is turned on by hand and invoiced.

Limits and quotas

Rate limits and quotas apply to your use of the platform (for example on AI generation and CI builds) and are subject to enforcement at any time to keep the platform available and costs sane. These limits can change over time.

Third-party services

The platform connects to services like GitHub and the extension stores. Your use of those is governed by their own terms.

No warranty

The platform is provided “as is,” without warranties, to the extent the law allows. I can’t guarantee a store will accept any given extension.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, I’m not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages from your use of the platform.

Changes and ending access

I may update these terms or the platform, and may suspend access that breaks these terms. I’ll make a reasonable effort to flag material changes.
