+ What is InterVarsity's Financial Accountability?

InterVarsity/USA maintains the highest standards of financial integrity in all our business dealings. It is our pledge to you to maintain the highest ethical standards of financial accountability and reporting consistent with responsible Christian faith and practice. To maintain your trust and support, an independent audit of our financial records is conducted annually. A free copy of that audit is available Here or by writing to: InterVarsity Christian Fellowship/USA, Financial Services, P.O. Box 7895, Madison, WI 53707-7895.

+ Is InterVarsity a tax-exempt organization?

Yes, InterVarsity is a tax-exempt nonprofit organization under 501(c)(3) of the IRS Code. InterVarsity is also classified as a public charity. InterVarsity is qualified to receive tax-deductible bequests, devises, transfers, or gifts under Section 2055, 2106, or 2522 of the Code, and all donations to InterVarsity are tax deductible under section 170 of the Code. InterVarsity has complete discretion and control over the use of donated funds.

+ What is the most cost-effective method for donating to InterVarsity?

The most cost-effective method to use is an electronic check (EFT), for either a one-time gift or a reoccurring monthly gift. InterVarsity does not pay any extra fees for this service and administrative costs are very low.

+ How do I give by check?

To give by check, please make payable to "InterVarsity Christian Fellowship/USA" or "InterVarsity" and mail to:

Donor Services
InterVarsity Christian Fellowship/USA
PO Box 7895
Madison, WI 53707-7895

Please include a note along with your check to designate for a specific staff member, ministry, or program.

Download this form to complete, print, and return with your gift.

Following IRS requirements, InterVarsity uses the name and address information printed on a check to issue receipt for tax purposes. All donations must be made payable to InterVarsity to be eligible for tax deductibility. Checks made payable to staff or students will be returned for proper completion.

Note: Mailing checks to staff members instead of the address above will delay the processing of your gift and may affect the month or year in which it is receipted.

+ How do I give by electronic check?

Donations via Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT), such as through your checking account, is the least expensive giving method which means more funding is available for ministry.

To set up a one-time gift or recurring donation via EFT, log in to give.InterVarsity.org. Then hover over "My Giving" in the menu across the top and choose "Payment Methods" to add your bank account number and routing number. EFT gifts will be withdrawn from your bank account automatically on the date and frequency you select.

For a truly paperless donation, we recommend initiating an EFT through InterVarsity's donation site rather than your bank's website or bill pay service, as those services are more expensive for InterVarsity to process.

+ How do I give by credit card? Are there extra fees?

InterVarsity accepts all major credit and debit cards: Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express.

To give via credit card online, select "Make a Gift" in the top menu after logging in at give.InterVarsity.org, search for your preferred designation, choose your preferred amount and frequency, and enter your credit card information before hitting "Submit Donation."

To give via phone, call Donor Services toll-free (866) 734-4823 Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm CST. For your security, please do not leave credit card information on voicemail or send via email.

Credit card and debit card companies charge InterVarsity approximately 2.5% for each donation they process. This fee is deducted from the amount received for the account you designate. You can choose the option to cover this fee when giving a donation. To avoid this fee, you might consider donating through an electronic funds transfer (EFT), which withdraws from a bank account, for a lower cost to ministry.

This website and InterVarsity comply with Payment Card Industry (PCI) security standards.

+ Can I mail in a donation?

To mail a donation, please make all checks payable to "InterVarsity Christian Fellowship/USA" or "InterVarsity" and send to:

Donor Services
InterVarsity Christian Fellowship/USA
PO Box 7895
Madison, WI 53707-7895

Please include a note along with your check to designate for a specific staff member, ministry, or program.

Download this form to complete, print, and return with your gift.

Note: Mailing donations to staff members instead of the address above will delay the processing of your gift and may affect the month or year in which it is receipted.

+ Are there other payment methods available?

Apple Pay

InterVarsity accepts Apple Pay to make one-time gifts. On the "Make a Gift" page, Apple Pay will show on devices where this payment method has been activated.

Non-Cash Gifts

+ How do I donate anonymously?

A checkbox is available on InterVarsity's donation page to "Make this gift anonymous." Selecting this option will indicate your gift is from "Anonymous" in reports to staff responsible for the account designated. The gift amount is not hidden. A receipt for tax purposes will be sent to you.

ESTATE & GIFT PLANNING

+ How do I transfer shares of stock to InterVarsity?

Click here for more information on giving appreciated stocks and securities.

+ Gifts-in-Kind

Many types of personal property can be shared as a gift-in-kind to InterVarsity when item(s) can be used for ministry purposes. Previously accepted items have included electronics, furniture, sports equipment, household items, tools, art, antiques, and other items of value.

All gifts-in-kind must be approved in advance by InterVarsity's Gift Acceptance Committee (GAC) in order to confirm donation eligibility. Please allow 7-10 business days for this review.

To begin the review process, please download this form to complete and return via email to donorservices@intervarsity.org.

+ Estate giving

Giving through your will or trust may allow you to bless InterVarsity in a more significant way that may not be possible during your lifetime.

+ Gifts of livestock through STEER, Inc

As a rancher or farmer, learn how to give livestock to benefit InterVarsity.

Your only responsibility is to donate your feed and care for the cow. STEER Inc, provides the funds to purchase a young cow from you. You sign an Agreement of Stewardship that you will provide the daily care and feed of the animal and who you wish to support within InterVarsity. This allows you to be personally involved in seeing the profits from your project go toward Gospel outreach to students and faculty on campuses across the country! When the calf is ready to be sold, you do it in the name of STEER, Inc, then STEER Inc, sends a check to InterVarsity. To learn more, visit the STEER, Inc website at https://www.steerinc.com

+ Crops & gifts of agriculture

As a crop farmer, learn how to gift your crops to benefit InterVarsity.

In lieu of gifting cash to InterVarsity, consider contacting your local coop or grain handler and transferring bushels of grain, corn, or beans from your name to InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. The coop or grain handler provides a warehouse receipt for Donor Services with your name and the type of crop given and the amount.

Call or email Donor Services that you have gifted the crop, and which staff or school account in InterVarsity you prefer to give the gift toward. Email Donor Services with the warehouse receipt from your grain elevator or co-op. Include in your email the staff or school account in InterVarsity you prefer to give the gift toward. Donor Services will contact the co-op to order the sale of the grain. InterVarsity will acknowledge your gift following the sale. Donor Services can be reached Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM CST at (866) 734-4823 or donorservices@intervarsity.org

RECEIPTS

+ Will I get a receipt?

A tax-deductible receipt is sent for each donation we receive. For gifts made online, a receipt will be sent by email. For receipts sent by mail, the bottom portion can be returned with a future gift. To update your receipt preferences, please email Donor Services.

+ How can I get a receipt for my last gift, including my year-to-date total?

Gift receipts are issued within 3-5 business days after a gift has processed. If you need a receipt to be re-issued, please email Donor Services.

To view and print a year-to-date giving summary, log in at give.InterVarsity.org, hover over "My Giving" in the top menu and select "Donation History." Online summaries include direct gifts but unfortunately do not reflect donations through non-cash gifts.

+ Why did I stop receiving receipts?

Gift receipts are issued within 3-5 business days after a gift has processed. After gifts have ceased, receipts are no longer issued.

If you receive receipts via email, please check your junk mail or deleted mail folder. Be sure to add receipts@intervarsity.org and noreply@intervarsity.org to your email safe senders list to increase deliverability.

If you need a receipt to be re-issued, please email Donor Services.

+ Can my donation be refunded?

Generally InterVarsity does not issue refunds. According to IRS guidelines, InterVarsity Christian Fellowship/USA must maintain sole control and discretion over the use of the funds once a tax-deductible receipt is issued. Tax deductible gifts are non-refundable. In the event that changes occur in InterVarsity, with our ministry staff, ministries or projects, all tax-deductible gifts remain non-refundable and will be used for similar ministry purposes.

Each staff's ministry budget is set by the team in which they work. The staff or their director can provide you with this information.

+ If more is received than budgeted, what happens to funding I gave?

Each staff director has control over the funds that are received for their teams. If a staff account has a surplus, their supervisor is responsible to decide how best to use those funds, typically it is reserved for future ministry expenses.

+ What happens to my donations when a staff leaves employment with InterVarsity?

Staff are encouraged to inform their ministry partners of plans to leave employment with InterVarsity ahead of their departure and provide you future giving options. The staff member may also inform you of other staff or InterVarsity ministries that would benefit from your continued support. Donor Services may also reach out with additional options.
