The Team

Dave Charlesworth

Founder & Director

Image of Dave Charlesworth

Artist, curator and producer. Founder of KitMapper, now in its tenth year. Launched the Kitto Prize with The Koppel Project in 2026.

Dave Charlesworth is an artist, curator and producer based in South East London, and the founder of KitMapper, now in its tenth year of delivering technically ambitious projects for the arts. Under his direction KitMapper has grown into a production partner to institutions including Somerset House, the Royal College of Art, the V&A and Whitechapel Gallery, working from Somerset House and its Forest Hill warehouse and studio. In 2026 he launched the Kitto Prize with The Koppel Project, an open-call exhibition programme that drew nearly 600 applications in its inaugural year, extending Kitto, KitMapper's equipment hire brand, into artist development. A long-standing concern of his work is how careers and practices in the creative arts are made sustainable: he wrote The Future of Making with Artquest in 2022, on how artists might structure their work over the next decade, and now addresses that question in practice through KitMapper Venture Studio. He co-founded the gallery South Kiosk, and his own practice works with archive film and photography.
