About Me

Marc Duclusaud

I have been passionate about designing, building, and controlling robots for several years. This interest is what led me to complete my PhD and Postdoc in humanoid robotics at the University of Bordeaux, working alongside the Rhoban team at LaBRI.

In this context, I worked on humanoid robot locomotion in unpredictable dynamic environments, with the main goal of competing in the RoboCup KidSize League. This led me to develop walking controllers based on the inverted pendulum model, explore locomotion and stand-up strategies using reinforcement learning, and improve the simulation of these systems. Generally speaking, I love being involved in every single step of a project. Whether it’s designing parts in CAD, machining or 3D printing them, or training control policies to deploy on the actual physical hardware.

Alongside these competitions, I’ve had a lot of fun building open-source humanoid platforms like Microban. This site showcases a few projects I’ve worked on over the years, including some older ones I made while working as a FabManager at the Eirlab Community FabLab. To be completely honest, I don’t keep it perfectly up to date. If you want to see what I’m currently working on or maintaining, my GitHub is definitely the best place to look.
