Is there an app that counts pushups with the phone camera?
Yes — Pushup RPG is a free iOS and Android app that counts your pushups with the front camera using on-device pose detection. Nothing is worn, nothing is tapped, and no video ever leaves your phone.
Does Pushup RPG count squats too?
Yes. Since version 2.0 you can take on the whole adventure with camera-counted squats for the same XP, gold and loot. Squats keep your streak alive and damage your guild's weekly boss, and they have their own leaderboard — pushup and squat records are kept separate, never mixed.
Is Pushup RPG free?
Yes, Pushup RPG is free to download on both the App Store and Google Play. There are optional extras, but the camera rep-counting and the core RPG are free to play.

Can I compete against another person in real time?
Yes. You can challenge a friend to a live duel, or enter the Arena and be matched with a player near your level. A bout is 40 seconds: both cameras count, and a tug-of-war rope moves with every rep either of you does. There is no chat and no messaging — and you can report or block an opponent from the result card. Your camera never leaves your device in a duel either; only the rep count is sent.
Does Pushup RPG count sit-ups and planks?
Yes, both were added in version 2.4.1 and both are free. Sit-ups are counted by the camera like pushups and squats — you lie side-on to the phone. A plank is timed rather than counted: it records seconds, never reps, and keeps two figures, your lifetime seconds held and your longest single unbroken hold. One honest limit: only pushups and squats drive the game. Sit-ups and planks are solo training modes — they keep your daily streak alive, but they earn no XP, gold or loot for the work itself, they do not appear on any leaderboard, and they do not write to Apple Health. A streak milestone you cross on a plank-only day still pays out, because the streak is shared across all four movements.
Do I need any equipment?
Just your phone and the floor. Prop it up so the camera can see you, drop into a pushup, and start. Nothing to buy, nothing to wear.
How does the camera count my reps?
On-device pose detection tracks your head, shoulders and arms. It counts clean, full-depth reps against a fixed depth threshold and ignores small movements — and it all runs on your phone.
Is my camera footage saved or uploaded?
Never. No video, image, or pose data is recorded, stored, or sent anywhere. The feed exists only in memory during a battle and is discarded immediately. Read the privacy policy →
Do I need an account?
No — you can play fully as a guest. Signing in with Apple, Google or email backs up your progress across devices and unlocks the friends leaderboard, and you can delete your account anytime in-app.
Can I cheat my way through?
Not really. Loot and the skill tree boost your rewards — XP, gold and drops — never the number of reps a battle needs. The workout always stays honest.
