Founded as Imigresen FC in 2015, the club began its journey in amateur football before rising through the ranks to compete in the Malaysia Super League. The club's rebranding to Star City FC ahead of the 2026/2027 season represents its highest ambitions — to strengthen its competitiveness, expand its commercial presence, and establish a lasting legacy in Malaysian professional football.
The club is professionally managed by IFC Corporation Sdn. Bhd., which oversees financial governance, operational management, and compliance with Malaysia Football League (MFL) club licensing requirements.
