The use of aspirin for treating diabetes goes WAY back.
As long ago as 1876, doctors had treated diabetics with massive aspirin doses and its derivatives.
This dissertation showed that sodium salicylate (related to aspirin) at 5 g daily lowered the amount of sugar in the urine of diabetics.
