How Mosquitoes Develop Very High Levels of Insecticide Resistance and threaten Public health
A recent study by the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology of FORTH reveals the genetic mechanisms that enhance mosquito resistance to insecticides

The study was published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS), with Dr. Linda Grigoraki and PhD candidate Mengling Chen, from the Molecular Entomology group at IMBB-FORTH, as leading authors.

Research at the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (IMBB) of the Foundation for Research and Technology-Hellas (FORTH), published as a featured article in the international scientific journal Nature Communications, reveals a previously unknown cellular mechanism that contributes to the maintenance of neural function and promotes longevity. The research team is led by Professor Nektarios Tavernarakis and includes Dr. Aggeliki Sotiriou and Dr. Georgios Konstantinidis.

The Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas and the University of West Attica launch a landmark partnership to advance research and innovation in health and social protection

The collaboration, that was formalized through the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation in May 2026 by Professor Panagiotis Tsakalides, Vice President of FORTH, and Professor Panagiotis E. Kaldis, Rector of the University of West Attica, will be implemented by the Center for eHealth Applications and Services (CeHA) of the Institute of Computer Science, while the University of West Attica will be represented by the Social Administration Research Laboratory (SARL).

Spring School “SPTDC 2026”: Bridging Theory and Practice in Distributed Computing

The Spring School on the Practice and Theory of Distributed Computing (SPTDC 2026) was successfully held from April 27 to April 30, 2026, at the Foundation for Research and Technology – Hellas (FORTH) in Heraklion, Crete. The four-day intensive program was organized within the framework of the HAR.S.H. project, which is implemented by ELKE from the University of Crete under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan “Greece 2.0” and funded by the European Union through NextGenerationEU.
