Meet Moka!
This week’s Pet of the Week is Moka, a beautiful 5-year-old American Bulldog who is looking for a special person to call her own.
Moka can be a little shy when she first meets new people or finds herself in a new environment, so she’ll need a patient family who is happy to let her take things at her own pace. But once she gets comfortable, her sweet personality really starts to shine!
Moka is affectionate, loving and happiest when she feels safe and close to her people. She loves her ball and, when she’s not enjoying some playtime, her favourite thing to do is curl up for a good nap. Honestly, she sounds like she has life pretty well figured out!
Moka may take a little time to warm up, but once she trusts you, you’ll have a loyal and devoted best friend by your side.
If you have a little patience, a lot of love and room in your heart for a wonderful companion, Moka would love to meet you. Sometimes the best friendships just take a little time to grow.
Moka is available for adoption at the Ontario SPCA York Region Animal Centre, located at 16586 Woodbine Avenue in Stouffville. The centre is open Monday to Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Come meet Moka — she may just be the best friend you’ve been waiting for!

With temperatures heating again this week, it's the perfect time to remember that pets and hot cars never mix.
Even on a warm day, the temperature inside a parked vehicle can rise to dangerous levels in just minutes—even if the windows are cracked. Leaving your pet in a vehicle for "just a few minutes" can quickly become life-threatening, putting them at risk of heat exhaustion or fatal heatstroke.
Help keep your furry family members safe by leaving them at home if they can't come inside with you. Make sure they have access to fresh water, shade, and a cool place to rest, and avoid walks during the hottest parts of the day.
Visit NoHotPets.ca to take the No Hot Pets Pledge and commit to protecting pets from the dangers of hot vehicles. As a thank you, you'll be entered for a chance to win a YETI prize pack!
This summer, be their hero. No Hot Pets—because a parked car is never a safe place for your pet.
