Yinglei (Louis.Z) Zhu

Roboticist-in-training exploring robot learning, physical intelligence, and robotic systems—and occasionally learning from the robots themselves.

BIO

I am a Ph.D. student in Robotics at Tsinghua University, advised by Prof. Huichan Zhao. I earned dual bachelor’s degrees in Mathematics & Physics and Mechanical Engineering there in 2024.

My research focuses on robot learning, physically grounded simulation, and modeling and control of soft and musculoskeletal robots.

I review for CoRL, ICRA, IROS, T-RO, RA-L, and RAM.

CaRol’s First Goal

At RoboCup 2023 in Bordeaux, France, I served as vice-captain of the TH-MOS robot soccer team, which placed fourth worldwide in the Humanoid League (KidSize). CaRol, the first robot to run my decision-making algorithm, scored our team’s first goal.
