What is Grape, in one paragraph?

Grape is a notes app for Mac, Windows, Linux, iPhone, iPad and Android. Type notes, write by hand, save pages from the web and record meetings without a bot, and keep all of it in one library that works offline and syncs when you want it to. Search finds any word, even inside PDFs, scans, handwriting and recordings, and the AI is there when you want it: ask your notes a question, get the summary of a meeting or turn a note into flashcards.

Can I use Grape without AI?

Yes. Free and Sync have no AI at all: you write, record, draw, write by hand and make your own flashcards and quizzes, and Sync keeps it all on every device for $3 a month. Plus, Pro and Lifetime add the AI, for when you want Grape to write a transcript, a summary or the cards, and even then it only changes a note when you ask.

Which platforms does it run on?

Desktop apps for macOS, including older Intel Macs, Windows, and Linux as a Debian package for x64 and arm64. Mobile apps for Android on Google Play and for iPhone on the App Store.

Can I bring notes in from another app?

Yes. Evernote and Apple Notes have direct imports: Evernote notebooks come across as folders, with their attachments, checklists and tags. A folder of Markdown files covers Obsidian, Bear and most other apps, with the subfolders recreated as folders, and pasted Markdown keeps its formatting too. Anki decks come in as flashcards, quizzes or fill in the blank exercises, pictures and recordings included. Importing works on every plan, the free one too.

Does a bot join my meetings?

No. Grape records on your own device: your phone for a meeting in the room, or your Mac or Windows PC for a call, where it records the call and your microphone together. Nothing joins the meeting and nobody gets an invite, so it works when you are not the host too. Let people know you are recording, the way the law where you are asks.

Does it work offline?

Writing, reading, organising, drawing and recording all work with no connection at all. The AI features need the internet, unless you point Grape at a local model with Ollama or LM Studio.

Where do my notes actually live?

On your device, in a local database, and you can choose where that file sits. Nothing needs to leave your machine for the app to work, and nothing you write is used to train AI models. If you turn on sync with a Sync, Plus or Pro plan, your notes are also stored in the cloud so your devices can stay in step. On Lifetime they sync through your own Dropbox or Google Drive instead, and Grape never sees them.

In the app: open Settings, then Account, and choose Cancel Subscription. A plan bought on the website ends right there and keeps working until the end of the month you paid for. A plan bought on iPhone or Android is canceled in the App Store or Google Play, and the button takes you there. Sync, Plus and Pro are month to month, and your notes stay on your device either way.

So when can you start on the kitchen? The 14th works. Two weeks, if nothing surprises us behind the walls. And can the sink go under the window? It can. The pipes are close, so it costs less than you think.Good. We liked the green tiles from the second shop. I will order those. Someone still has to price the worktop, and the electrician is only free in March.

BlogAugust 26, 2026Your Note as an InfographicGrape reads a note and draws it as one poster: a title, numbered sections, and nothing on the page your note did not say.

People remember posters. Not because a poster is smarter than a page of notes, but because it has been arranged: a title at the top, sections in order, a number beside each one, a picture where a picture helps.Deciding what goes where is the slow part, which is why almost nobody makes a poster of their own notes. An afternoon in a design tool for one page about cell respiration is not a trade anyone takes during exam week.

Something is written before anything is drawnThe poster is not made in one pass. A language model reads the note first and writes a plan: a title, three to seven sections, two to five points inside each, and one closing line at the bottom. That plan is written under a hard rule. Every statement has to be supported by the note: no added facts, no invented examples, and no numbers that were not there.
