JungHun Kim

I am an undergraduate student in Computer Science & Engineering at Konkuk University and an undergraduate researcher at UTL Lab, Korea University. My work focuses on trustworthy multimodal systems—evaluating AI safety guardrails, synthetic-video detectors, and the failure modes that appear beyond benchmark settings.

Previously, at DMS Lab, I studied deep reinforcement learning and large language models. I also enjoy turning research ideas into usable products, from a diffusion-based handwriting coach to a serverless iOS calendar.

My research interests include:

  • Multimodal AI Safety
  • Synthetic Video Detection
  • Generative Models

Projects

Research questions and products I have taken from an initial idea to evidence.

01

Can We Trust Frontier Video Editing Models?

2026 · KT MM Safety

Designed cross-editor evaluations for synthetic-video detectors across unseen editing models, compression, VAE reconstruction, and diverse edit concepts. The study revealed weak unseen-editor generalization and lower detectability for motion edits.

  • Benchmarked ForgeLens, DeCoF, ReStraV, and VideoVeritas.
  • Improved ForgeLens TPR@5% FPR from 0.467 to 0.732 with multi-editor training under a fixed data budget.
02

Multimodal Safety GuardRail

2026 · KT MM Safety

Built an evaluation framework for multimodal guardrail models, measuring over-refusal and joint image–text robustness while investigating systematic text bias in safety reasoning.

  • Constructed balanced multimodal reasoning data and failure-case analyses.
  • Raised overall accuracy from 67.74% to 77.05% with a lightweight image–text-focused inference prompt.
03

Inkly: AI Handwriting Refinement

2025 · Generative AI

Created a personalized handwriting system that combines a writer's style with a structurally balanced reference using a conditional diffusion model and noise-prediction blending.

  • Expanded training from 14 characters to 2,350 Korean characters across 102 handwriting fonts.
  • Connected the PyTorch model, Flask inference server, OCR pipeline, and SwiftUI practice experience.
04

Pzzk: A Clean, Serverless iOS Calendar

2023 · iOS

Shipped a deliberately simple iOS calendar centered on fast interaction and privacy-friendly device sync. The app uses iCloud synchronization without a separately operated application server.

  • Designed and implemented native calendar interactions for a production iOS release.
  • Used CloudKit-backed synchronization to keep the architecture small and maintainable.
