Hi, I am Junsu Kim. Currently, I'm working on interactive physical intelligence.
Previously, I was a Student Researcher at Google DeepMind's Superhuman Reasoning team, advised by Thang Luong and Yi Tay, working on post-training and inference-time methods for mathematical reasoning. I was a core contributor to the training of the first Gemini Deep Think model that achieved the historic IMO gold medal 🏅.
Now, I'm interested in bringing these reasoning capabilities into the physical world, where AI and robots live and act alongside people. Interacting with people requires understanding their intentions over long context and carefully defining what it means to help. Ultimately, I believe this development can lead to a coexistence that benefits society, preserving human autonomy and self-actualization rather than replacing us.
My journey stems from the Ryu Optimization Group, where I first dived into the field of artificial intelligence and learned how to research. Before that, I enjoyed my time preparing for the IMO, where I won a silver medal representing Team Korea and first learned how to think.
I'm also finishing my BS at Seoul National University, exploring ideas and people that can change the world together. If anything here resonates with you, schedule a 30-minute chat or reach out by email. I love meeting new people!
