Excellent product

I was tired of regular pencil with a too wide tip. this new pencil is just perfect. Sturdy, precise and it comes with a case the keeps it protected and easy to take in or out. very happy with this product.

I have wandered through the wilderness of deep-hole marking pencils, and I am here to testify.

I began with the Nicpro. The Nicpro is not entirely without virtue. For rough carpentry and framing, it will serve. But its sharpener is a heresy. Anyone who has actually attempted to produce a fine point with that miserable contraption knows exactly what I’m talking about. For trim carpentry, I eventually lost the faith.

Then came the Pica-Dry, promising a better way. And for a time, I believed. Its sharpener actually works. Hallelujah. I thought I had finally found the promised land.

But the Pica-Dry proved to be a false prophet.

Sharpen that lead to a beautiful fine point, leave it protruding just a little too far, put it back into the holster—and snap. Your freshly sharpened point is sacrificed somewhere inside. I learned to keep the lead ridiculously short, but I began to wonder: Is this really how a carpenter is meant to live?

Then I found the TRACER.

Brothers and sisters, I have seen the light.

The sharpener is incorporated into the pocket clip, where God and sensible engineering intended it to be. It actually sharpens the lead properly. The holster doesn’t immediately punish you for having a nicely sharpened point. It clips onto my pocket, does its job, and allows me to get on with mine.

I have been transformed.

I am now, admittedly, something of a TRACER evangelist. When another carpenter complains about his deep-hole pencil, I feel compelled to share the good news.

Nicpro for the rough-carpentry heathens. Pica-Dry for those still wandering in the wilderness.

Bought for my boyfriend and it is now one of his favorite tools. He wishes he had it long before now. Fits nicely in his tool belt and the sharpener in the holder is convenient. Leads last a long time before needing to be replaced

The tracer brand are great. I also have the pics pencils and I use the pics construction mainly for rough carpentry, but everything else I use the tracer deep hole for.

The sharpener being on top and the spare lead carrying case are AWESOME! I actually just upgraded to the tracer pro aluminum pencils so the plastic body one will become my home shop pencil.

Love them. Very handy to have on my tool belt. Used often.

The overall quality is there . The issue: the cap!! As soon as I reach for the pen, I pull it off ! Very inconvenient:((
