Full Guide: Using CLI to Withdraw Funds From Neutron Applications

3 min read

Per the Neutron Foundation’s announcement to enter long term support, Foundation-supported front ends have now been deprecated. If you are still holding assets on Neutron, use the guide below to access and withdraw funds from the Redemption Portal, DEX module, Supervaults, or Drop protocol.

This process uses the Neutron command line tool to generate, sign, and broadcast a withdrawal transaction.

Before You Start

  • You’ll use Terminal for these steps.
  • Never share your seed phrase with anyone. Only enter it locally when recovering your own wallet.
  • If you use a Ledger, keep the device plugged in, unlocked, and open to the Cosmos app when signing.
  • When using neutrond commands, run them from inside the neutron directory unless your terminal can already find neutrond globally.

Install The Neutron Binary

First, install Git. If you’re on macOS, the simplest route is usually Homebrew.

To install Homebrew if you don’t already have it:

javascript
/bin/bash -c "$(curl -fsSL

https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Homebrew/install/HEAD/install.sh)"

To install git, enter the following command into your terminal:

javascript
brew install git

Next, you need to install Go 1.24:

  • If using macOS/Linux, use brew:
json
brew install go@1.24
echo 'export PATH="$PATH:$(go env GOPATH)/bin"' >> ~/.bashrc && source ~/.bashrc
source ~/.bashrc
  • or follow the install instructions from the official Golang docs (be sure you are installing exactly Golang 1.24.x). Execute the following command in your terminal:
json
echo 'export PATH="$PATH:$(go env GOPATH)/bin"' >> ~/.bashrc && source ~/.bashrc
source ~/.bashrc

After you’ve install everything above, restart your terminal. Now you are ready to install Neutron itself (execute the following commands in your terminal):

bash
git clone https://github.com/neutron-org/neutron.git

cd neutron

git checkout v11.0.0

make install

Create or Connect a Wallet on Your Local Machine

To interact with the chain from the Neutron CLI, you need a wallet on your local machine. Choose the option that matches how you custody your funds.

Option A: Import a Key From a Mnemonic

Run this command in your terminal:

plaintext
neutrond keys add my-wallet \

--recover

neutrond will respond with “> Enter your bip39 mnemonic”. Type your seed phrase here, each word separated by a space. After executing the command, you should get a response like this:

javascript
- address:

  name:

  pubkey:

  type:

If the address is not displayed, confirm it with:

plaintext
neutrond keys show my-wallet

Option B: Create A Key Reference From a Ledger

Plug in the Ledger, unlock it, and open the Cosmos app. The Cosmos SDK Ledger integration uses the Cosmos Ledger app and asks for device confirmation when creating the local Ledger key reference.

Then run:

plaintext
neutrond keys add my-wallet \
--ledger

You will be prompted to confirm the address on the Ledger device.

This does not import the Ledger private key into neutrond. It stores a local reference to the Ledger key; the private key stays on the device. The SDK command describes --ledger as storing a local reference to a private key on a Ledger device.

If your terminal doesn’t display it, you can confirm the imported address with the following command:

plaintext
neutrond keys show my-wallet

Generate The Withdrawal Transaction

To simplify finding all positions and deposits in the Redemption Portal, DEX module, Supervaults, and Drop protocol, use the withdrawal helper app: https://neutron-org.github.io/withdrawer/app.html

  • Open the withdrawal helper app in your browser.
  • Enter your Neutron address.
  • Click Load positions.
  • In the Positions window, choose Select all or select the specific positions you want to withdraw.
  • Click estimate gas & fee.
  • Click Generate Withdraw Transaction at the bottom of the page.

The app will download a raw unsigned transaction file. You’ll use that file in the next step.

Sign The Transaction

Replace neutron-withdraw-unsigned.json with the full path to the unsigned transaction file downloaded by the withdrawal helper app. On Mac, you can copy a file’s full path in Finder with Option + Command + C.

Also replace <YOUR_RPC_NODE> with a live RPC node. Example: https://rpc.neutron.solva.solutions:443

Sign the transaction:

json
neutrond tx sign neutron-withdraw-unsigned.json --chain-id neutron-1 --from my-wallet --node <YOUR_RPC_NODE> --output-document signed.json

If you are using a Ledger, add these flags to the signing command:

json
--ledger --sign-mode amino-json

Ledger Users: run the command while your Ledger is unlocked and the Cosmos app is open. After executing the command, approve the transaction on your Ledger. Terminal may not show a response until you approve.

Mnemonic Users: your computer may ask for permission to access files. Approve this if prompted. Terminal may not show a message confirming that the command ran successfully.

Broadcast The Signed Transaction

Replace signed.json with the full path to the signed transaction output. Replace <YOUR_RPC_NODE> with a live RPC node.

Broadcast the signed transaction:

json
neutrond tx broadcast signed.json --chain-id neutron-1 --node <YOUR_RPC_NODE>

If you are using a Ledger, add this flag to the broadcast command:

json
--ledger

A successful broadcast should return a response that includes code: 0 and a transaction hash.

Example of a successful response:

javascript
code: 0
codespace: ""
data: ""
events: []
gas_used: "0"
gas_wanted: "0"
height: "0"
info: ""
logs: []
raw_log: ""
timestamp: ""
tx: null
txhash: <TRANSACTION_HASH>
