The notch for people
who run agents.

Built to stay out of your screen share.

Notchbird lives in your MacBook's notch. It stays quiet while Claude Code and Codex work, and chirps when one needs you. Approve Claude Code right there, or jump straight back.

Your agents,
in the notch.

A long agent run leaves you two bad options. Watch the session, or wander off and come back twenty minutes after it stopped to ask you something. Notchbird watches it for you.

See your limits.

Usage meters for your 5-hour and weekly windows, always one glance away. How they work

Every session, one glance.

What needs you, what's working and what finished, in one Inbox.

Your dev box, too.

Watch one SSH host alongside this Mac. Nothing is installed there to watch it.

Quiet until it matters.

Progress chatter stays in the session. Only "needs you" makes a sound.

Codex, too.

Know the moment Codex finishes or waits on you, then jump back to answer it there.

The rest of your day,
right under the notch.

Focus timer, Shelf and AirDrop, Calendar, Sounds and more, one click apart. Agent alerts never pull you out of the one you're using.

Current native screenshots use sample data. Also in the panel: press ⌘K to search everything, and add your own actions from Shortcuts, apps or shell commands.

Keep your notch to yourself.

Notchbird is built to keep it private on calls, on disk and on the network. It is also small: budgets of 0.5% CPU at rest and 120 MB of memory. See the test conditions.

Kept out of your screen share

By default, Notchbird asks macOS to leave it out of screenshots, recordings and screen sharing. Some apps may still capture it. You can turn this off in Settings > Privacy.

Your prompts stay put

From Claude Code it reads the session title, tool names and a one-line preview of the latest reply. It never reports your prompts or tool inputs.

Permissions only on request

It asks for a permission when you first use the feature that needs it. Your history stays on your Mac, and the Mac app has no analytics or tracking.

Questions, answered.

What does Notchbird need to run?

A Mac running macOS 14 Sonoma or later. It is designed around the notch on recent MacBook Air and MacBook Pro models.

Claude Code and Codex sessions on this Mac need Python 3.9 or later. Apple's Command Line Tools include Python. If Python is missing, install the Command Line Tools with xcode-select --install, then reconnect Notchbird.

To watch one other Mac or Linux machine as well, add an SSH host alias you already use. That machine needs Python 3.9 or later. Watching it installs nothing there. If you turn on approvals for that machine, Notchbird adds one Claude Code hook there, shows it to you first, and you can remove it in Settings. If you use Tailscale, Notchbird lists your machines so you can pick one.

Can I approve Claude Code from the notch?

Yes. Turn on "Approve from the notch" for a machine in Settings > Machines. Notchbird shows you exactly what it will add to Claude Code's settings before it changes anything. Then permission prompts and questions appear in the notch with Allow and Deny.

If Notchbird isn't running or you don't answer in time, Claude Code falls back to its normal prompt in the terminal. Automatic approval is off by default. Optional YOLO mode applies only to eligible complete Claude Code requests and resets off when Notchbird restarts.

Approving works for Claude Code only. When Codex waits for approval, Notchbird alerts you. Return to your Codex session to answer.

Can Notchbird see my code or prompts?

From Claude Code transcripts Notchbird reads the session title, turn boundaries, tool names and a one-line preview of the latest reply. It never reports your prompts or tool inputs.

Nothing about your sessions is sent to us, and the Notchbird Mac app has no analytics or tracking. The privacy policy lists the few outside services it talks to.
