Invoice follow-up

Hi Priya, the invoice for August is ready. I pushed the final copy to the shared folder this morning.

No API key. Apple’s speech recognizer and Apple Intelligence are already on your Mac, so there’s nothing to paste in.

Apple Intelligence, built in. It cleans up, rewrites, and drafts text on this Mac.

Works offline. Dictation and Apple Intelligence run on-device by default, so a flight or dead Wi-Fi doesn’t stop it.

Under 60 MB of memory. It’s a native Mac app that sits quietly in the menu bar.

How it works

One key to hold, four quiet steps.

01

Hold Fn.

Speak while the keys are down. Tap to toggle if you prefer that.

02

Apple’s recognizer listens.

By default, the audio is transcribed on-device, in the language you picked.

03

Apple Intelligence cleans it up.

Filler goes away, punctuation lands, and the sentence keeps your meaning.

04

The text appears where you were typing.

Slack, Mail, Notes, Cursor, anywhere with a cursor.

If Apple Intelligence is off, rules-based cleanup takes over. Dictation still works.

See it work

It works in the app you already use.

Watch dictation, editing, and generation in the apps you already use. The overlay shows what QuietSpeech heard. The result lands where you are working.

01Dictate

A quick update, without the typing.

Hold Fn and talk. The live transcript fills in while you speak. Say “at Priya” and the message lands with a real @mention.

02Dictate

Code stays code.

QuietSpeech skips AI polish in code and terminal apps, so your syntax does not get rewritten.

03Edit

Rewrite what you selected.

Select a paragraph, hold Fn, and say what to change. The selection is rewritten in place.

04Generate

Ask for a first draft.

Say generate, then what you need. QuietSpeech writes a draft and inserts it where you are working.

Three modes

Say this. Get this.

One key. Three ways to turn speech into the text you need. Start with dictation, then ask for a rewrite or a new draft without leaving the app you are in.

01 Dictate

Speak, and it types.

Hold Fn and talk. The live transcript fills in while you speak, then the cleaned text lands where your cursor is.

02 Edit

Rewrite what you selected.

Select a paragraph, hold Fn, and say what to change. The selection is rewritten in place.

03 Generate

Ask for a first draft.

Say “generate,” then what you need. QuietSpeech writes a draft and inserts it where you are working.

It knows your names.

Add people, products, and jargon to your vocabulary. The recognizer gets them right more often. In Slack and other chat apps, saying “at Priya” types @Priya, a real mention.

Edit and generate use Apple Intelligence, or the provider you connect. Dictation stays on-device by default.

Privacy

Your voice stays on this Mac by default.

Audio is transcribed on-device, and Apple Intelligence processes the text on-device. There is no account, no telemetry, and no audio kept after transcription.

  1. 01 Microphone Audio is captured only while you hold Fn.
  2. 02 On-device recognizer Apple’s local speech model turns it into text.
  3. 03 On-device cleanup Apple Intelligence removes filler and fixes punctuation.
  4. 04 Your app The finished text lands where your cursor is.

If you connect OpenAI, Groq, Ollama, or a custom endpoint, that provider sees what you send. QuietSpeech does not.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Is there a trial?

No. You buy a license once, and it works on two Macs. The demo above shows how it works before you pay. If it is not for you, you have 14 days to request a refund.

Does dictation work offline?

Yes, by default. Dictation and Apple Intelligence run on this Mac, so you don’t need a connection. If you connect another provider, audio goes there for transcription. The license check needs the internet once every 14 days, and the app keeps working inside that window.

Do I need an API key?

No. QuietSpeech uses Apple’s speech recognizer and Apple Intelligence, which are already on your Mac. You only need a key if you choose to connect OpenAI, Groq, or a custom endpoint.

How much memory does it use?

Under 60 MB while it sits in the menu bar, going by Activity Monitor.

Which apps does it work in?

Anywhere you can type. Some apps need the clipboard fallback, and QuietSpeech handles that for you.

What happens if I get a new Mac?

Deactivate the old Mac in the customer portal, then activate the new one with the same key.

Do I need an account?

No. The license key is the account.

Does it work with Apple Intelligence turned off?

Yes. Dictation still works, and cleanup falls back to on-device rules.

Why does it require macOS 26?

The app uses Apple’s new Speech and Foundation Models frameworks. Both ship with macOS 26.
