Server Chief

Know what runs on every server, and how it is doing. Inventory, vulnerabilities, metrics and alerts across your fleet.

Inventory and monitoring

Every server, one overview

A small agent on each server reports what is installed, what it serves and how it is doing. Server Chief keeps it all up to date, so you can answer questions about your fleet and hear about problems without logging in to every machine.

Fleet inventory
See all your servers in one list, with their operating system, hardware, network, provider and location. A change history shows what changed on each server and when, from a new kernel to a site that moved.

Packages and updates
Find out which packages are installed on each server, which updates and security fixes are waiting and which servers need a reboot. The agent keeps the package lists fresh, and it never installs anything but its own updates.

Vulnerabilities
Security advisories from Debian, Ubuntu, AlmaLinux, Rocky Linux and Red Hat are matched against your installed packages, so you see which servers a CVE affects and whether the pending updates or a reboot fix it. It is guidance to help you patch the right servers first, not a replacement for a security scanner.

End of life
Operating systems and software such as PHP, MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, Redis, Node.js and nginx are checked against their end-of-life dates, including PHP built from source or by a hosting panel. Find every server that runs a release that no longer gets security fixes.

Host metrics
CPU, load, memory, swap, disk space and I/O, network and TCP connections are sampled every minute, with charts from the last hour up to a year. While you watch, the charts switch to a live view that updates every second.

Alerts
Set a threshold and a duration on any metric, for all servers, a tag or the servers you choose, or start from the recommended rules. You get an email with a chart when an alert fires and when it resolves, and when a server goes offline or stops sending metrics.

Fleet overview
See the busiest and fullest servers for CPU, load, memory, disk space and network at a glance, next to the alerts that are firing. Disks that will be full within a month at their current pace are listed before they run out.

Daily summary
One email at 09:00 in your timezone lists the critical vulnerabilities that can now be fixed, new security updates and releases that reached their end of life. Every team member chooses which of these they want.

Sites and certificates
See which sites each server hosts on Apache, nginx, Plesk or DirectAdmin, the PHP version they run and the certificates they use, with the tool renewing them. Get warned about certificates that expire without renewal or miss names their sites use.

Package sources
Every package repository is classified by vendor, so third-party sources, unsigned repositories and end-of-life mirrors stand out.

Fleet search
Search the whole fleet for a package version, a PHP release, a domain or a CVE, for example to find every server still on an old runtime or with security updates waiting.

Tags and sharing
Group servers with tags and share a tag with another team to give it read-only access to those servers.

API and MCP
Use the REST API or connect an AI assistant through the MCP server to query your inventory and metrics and to manage alert rules.

A least-privilege agent
Where systemd allows it, the agent runs as its own user that can read but not change the system. The few tasks that need root go through a small helper with a fixed list of actions, and the agent never runs shell commands sent to it. You decide per team or server whether sites, certificates, cloud details and metrics are collected.

Self-updating agent
New agent releases roll out automatically in batches, and teams or single servers can opt out. The agent runs on Ubuntu 14.04 and newer, Debian 8 and newer, and CentOS, Red Hat, AlmaLinux and Rocky Linux 7 and newer, on amd64 and arm64.
