New in 0.3.11: your architecture rules

See what your AI agent changed, on a map of your code

For developers who let Claude Code or Cursor change many files at once. ShadowGit saves every change as you work, gives your agent a map of your code before it edits, checks its work against the rules you write, and shows each session on that map.

See how it works

Your agent's diff shows which lines changed. Not what your code now depends on.

Your agent is done, and 27 files changed. Somewhere in them, src/jobs now imports from src/api: the shortcut your team agreed never to take. Nothing checked it, and nothing in the diff says so.

5 of 5

Asked to add the active user count to the nightly report, counted as the dashboard counts it, with no rule in sight, Claude Code took that shortcut in 5 of 5 runs.

You can't read every line. You can see what each change does to your architecture.

Step 1

Every change is saved, and you can go back to any snapshot

ShadowGit keeps its own history of your project in .shadowgit.git, beside your own git. A large edit is saved within seconds, small ones every few minutes, and each of your agent's checkpoints under its own message. When something goes wrong, restore the snapshot from before it. Your agent reads the same history through ShadowGit's MCP server.

Step 2

Your agent reads the map before its first edit

Before it changes a file, your agent asks ShadowGit what depends on it, area by area, callers grep misses included, and which of your rules hold for it. With a rule in place, Claude Code kept to it in 10 of 10 runs.

Step 3

Every checkpoint is checked against your rules

Write your rules in a file of your project, one plain sentence each. When your agent saves a checkpoint, ShadowGit lists each link the change adds that one of your rules names, with your reason. Your agent is asked to take the link out, or to tell you why it's there.

.shadowgit-rules
# The webshop's boundaries, one rule a line.
src/jobs never depends on src/api because jobs read the database through src/db

Step 4

Read the session in the Lens, in your agent's words

Each session becomes numbered steps beside a canvas of the functions, classes and types it adds, changes and removes. Ask your agent, and it writes the words, every name checked against your code. Under Your rules and Dependencies, you read what the change now depends on: jobs depends on api for the first time.

Step 5

See where it lands on your whole project

The Map draws your project as areas and layers, and keeps up as snapshots land. Pick the session, and it lights the code it changed and the code that depends on it.

Your code stays on your computer

ShadowGit draws the Lens and the Map on your computer and uploads none of them. Your agent reads them through ShadowGit's MCP server, in Claude Code, Cursor, Claude Desktop or any MCP client. What it reads goes to your AI provider, like any file it opens.
