Three simple steps to a healthier website
Enter any XML sitemap URL, or just a domain — we discover the sitemap from /sitemap.xml, /sitemap_index.xml and robots.txt. Sitemap index files are followed 3 levels deep.
Every URL is requested in turn and the result streams into the page as it lands: HTTP status code, response time, redirect target and cache HIT or MISS header.
Results are grouped by status code with a 0-100 health score, so you can see the 404s, redirect chains and slow pages worth fixing first, and export the full list as CSV.
Everything people ask before running their first check.
CheckMySitemap is a free online sitemap checker. It reads an XML sitemap, requests every URL in it, and reports broken links, redirect chains, slow pages and CDN cache hits, then scores the whole sitemap out of 100. It is aimed at SEO specialists, developers and WordPress maintenance teams who need to know that every page they have asked Google to crawl still returns a 200.
Yes. You can check a sitemap of up to 500 URLs without creating an account, 3 times per hour. A free account raises that to 1,000 URLs, gives you 100 tokens, one free check every day, saved history and scheduled checks on paid plans.
No. CheckMySitemap runs entirely in your browser — paste a sitemap URL and the checks run on our servers. There is no crawler to install, no plugin and no browser extension. A token-authenticated REST API is available if you want to trigger checks from CI or a script.
A crawler follows links to discover pages. CheckMySitemap checks exactly the URLs you have published in your sitemap — the list you have told Google to index — which is the fastest way to find pages that are in the sitemap but no longer resolve. It runs online with nothing to install, and can also warm your cache and re-run on a schedule.
A cache warmup sends a full GET request to every URL in your sitemap so your CDN or server cache stores a fresh copy before real visitors arrive. It is the usual fix for a slow first page load after a deploy or a cache purge. We report the HIT/MISS status of each URL so you can see the cache filling up. Warmups cost 2x the tokens of a status check because they transfer the full page.
We read the cache status headers set by Cloudflare (CF-Cache-Status), Varnish, Nginx, LiteSpeed and QUIC.cloud, WP Super Cache, and any proxy sending X-Cache, X-Cache-Status or X-Proxy-Cache. Where a server reports an Age header we show how long the cached copy has been held.
Every completed check gets a score from 0 to 100, weighted as: successful 2xx responses 40%, average response time 30%, cache hit rate 20%, and pages served without a redirect 10%. The results page breaks the score down so you can see which of the four dragged it down.
Up to 500 URLs anonymously, 1,000 on a free account, 5,000 on a paid plan and 10,000 on Pro. Sitemap index files are expanded automatically, up to 3 levels deep.
Yes. Save a sitemap and it can be re-checked as often as every 30 minutes, or hourly, daily, weekly or monthly at a time you choose. You can be notified by email, Slack or a custom webhook — on every run, or only when something breaks.
No. Requests to your site are spaced 1 second apart rather than fired all at once, and every request identifies itself with the user agent "SitemapChecker/1.0 (+https://sitemapcheck.app/bot)" so you can recognise it in your logs and allow-list or block it.
Anonymous check results are deleted after 7 days. Results attached to an account are kept for 90 days so you can compare a check against the previous one and track trends.
