Replacing a Public Linkding Instance with a Static Site

https://blog.lmorchard.com/2026/11/01/linkding-ssg/

TL;DR: I stopped exposing my homelab's dynamic Linkding instance to the public internet via Tailscale. Instead, I built linkding-ssg, a self-contained Go CLI that snapshots my 35,000 bookmarks into a fast static site with client-side Pagefind search—embedded binaries, Ivy Bridge quirks, and all.

For the past few months, I've been tinkering with an automated newsletter for myself. It lands in my inbox every morning at 7 o'clock, along with my first cup of coffee.
There's an RSS feed, or you can just follow this account if you're the curious kind:

Hello, fediverse! 😋 I just made a post about my retro gaming setup across three devices. It’s not really an in-depth tutorial; I just wanted to talk about the setup because I’m quite proud of how it turned out. Feel free to give it a read if you’re interested: https://merazi.github.io/posts/retro-gaming-across-devices/

I've made some room on the Smallweb Subway, a personal project of mine linking together indie websites! Each line is a webring with a different theme, & every station is a new website.

All the included web pages has a navigation widget somewhere that lets you go to the next & previous stops, letting you "ride" the subway between websites!

If you'd like to join, send me a message & I'll help you get started. Ride the subway here:

Hello hive mind and happy Samhain!

I've been updating my website for next year's travel season, and was wondering if there are people here with screen readers or other accessibility issues that could help me by having a look to see if the site is actually accessible or if there are things to improve.

One of the main concerns is the (surprisingly effective) spam filter, in which I write the whole "mailto:abc@xyz.com" in a mix of HTML decimal and hex. Does this work for screen readers or do you hear "and-hash-one-zero-nine-semicolon-and-hash-ex-zero-zero-six-one-semicolon" etc. for an excruciatingly long time?

The website is at https://orsom.eu (only the English pages are up to date at the moment)

Also, not related to the above, but after coming up with a myriad of trip names and descriptions, I've gotten writer's block now that only the name for a small gravel bike tour remains. Third one on this page: https://www.orsom.eu/en/tours.html ("Piedmont Gravel")

If there's anyone who can come up with a good name for it, or have a suggestion of direction that helps me get there, I'm happy to offer you a free bike tour if you ever come to Turin :)

Note that I haven't proofread properly yet, so there might be a typo or two lurking about.

And if you've read all the way to here, well, boosts are welcome 😘

Fresh from the devlog: Reddit isn't closing the door on AI. It's selling the key.

Reddit says it's killing RSS and its public API to stop AI scraping. But AI is its customer: Google and OpenAI pay for access, while feed readers, researchers and small developers get locked out.

Not yesterday I learned to know the love of bare Novbember days.
But it were vain to tell her so and they are better for her praise.

I'm making my own BBS. In Bash. On a Raspberry Pi Zero w 1 (not the 2).

I haven't had this much fun in years!
It's totally bonkers and extremely unnecessary!
But it's something just for me. It's my project. It's my time.

And it goes perfectly with a cup of coffee! ☕

Oh my glod!

Would you look at that, Frank! Those Big Boy Produktion folks sure work fast!

More colours! Easier nicknames! Threads!

What will they come up with next?!

This kind of marketing (and creating such outrageous false expectations) is what makes me end up sharing my experience with Carl's Jr. on social media (seriously, €14 for this?)

I made a badge for the other side of “Not By AI”: Mostly AI, Human + AI or Human only. You pick, nobody checks.

No cookies, no sign-up. It counts places that wear it, never people, and the numbers are public. MIT code. One year, to see who picks which.
