Ice baths in Singapore: where to find one, how cold each is and what it costs

Cold plunges in Singapore run from 3°C at a recovery club to 19°C at an onsen, and from S$39 to S$88 a visit. The temperature decides what you are buying.

You can take an ice bath in Singapore at three kinds of place: a dedicated recovery club, a 24-hour spa, or an onsen. The water runs from about 3°C at the coldest club to 19°C at the onsen, and a visit costs roughly S$39 to S$88.

Those are different products. Water at 4°C is a hard two minutes. Water at 18°C is a cool pool. Check the listed temperature before you book, because "cold plunge" on a website covers both.

Where to go, by water temperature

The first three rows come from our guide to the best recovery clubs in Singapore, which recorded each operator's own listing in June 2026. Confirm those prices before you book. The last two rows come from the operators' pages on 5 October 2026. The Yunomori temperature is from its landlord's venue page, which dates from 2018.

Recovery clubs: the real cold

A recovery club is built around the plunge. The water is in single digits, the sauna is next to it, and a session is short.

On the listings our guide recorded, The Ice Bath Club runs its baths at 3 to 10°C beside a 90°C sauna, and Plunge Club keeps two baths at about 4°C and 8°C. Drop-in prices sat between S$39 and S$55, with off-peak slots at the lower end.

This is the right choice if cold exposure itself is the goal.

Spas: mild cold, long stay

A spa treats the cold pool as one stop among many.

G.Spa on Guillemard Road lists a cold plunge at 8 to 15°C, a hot pool at 39 to 42°C and a sauna at 75 to 85°C. Entry is S$88 nett and lasts up to 24 hours, with a buffet included. At the cold end of its range that plunge is as cold as a recovery club's warmer bath.

G.Spa's own admission page suggests a cycle: 10 to 15 minutes in the hot pool, 8 to 12 minutes in the sauna or steam room, 30 to 60 seconds in the cold plunge, then 10 minutes of rest, repeated two or three times. Note the cold part. It is under a minute.

Bubble House+ in Jurong East also includes soaking pools in its admission, from S$70.74 nett for 6 hours. Its price list does not state pool temperatures, so ask before you go if cold water is the point. Our guide to 24-hour spas in Singapore covers both venues.

The onsen: cool, not cold

Yunomori Onsen at Kallang Wave Mall has a cold bath listed at 17 to 19°C. That is a refreshing dip between hot baths. It is not an ice bath, and nobody should book it expecting one.

What it offers instead is time. The S$49.05 day pass has no time limit, so an afternoon of hot water with cool dips costs less than a single club session. Our guide to Yunomori Onsen at Kallang has the full price list.

At home

A bathtub, cold tap water and a few bags of ice make a serviceable plunge. Singapore tap water is warm, so you need more ice than you expect, and a thermometer tells you what you actually built. Many flats have no bathtub, which is one reason the clubs exist.

A cold shower is not the same thing, but it is free, and it is a fair way to find out whether you like the idea at all.

What an ice bath does and does not do

The honest summary of the evidence is modest. The best-supported effect of cold water is a short-term lift in mood and alertness. Some people also say it eases the feeling of soreness. The case for anything bigger is thin.

One finding matters to lifters. A 2024 review pooled eight studies and found that cold water immersion straight after resistance training modestly reduced muscle growth. Every trial applied the cold within about 15 minutes of the session. So if you lift to build muscle, do not plunge right after. Use the cold on rest days or cardio days, or leave several hours between the two.

Our review of sauna versus cold plunge sets out the studies, including why the sauna has the stronger evidence of the two.

Safety

Humour off for this part.

Sudden cold puts load on the heart and can make you gasp and hyperventilate. See a doctor before you try cold water immersion if you are pregnant, or have heart disease, a heart-rhythm condition, or high or low blood pressure that is not controlled. G.Spa bars pregnant guests from its pools, sauna and steam room.

For everyone else:

start with short dips of 30 to 60 seconds, in the warmer bath if there is a choice

get in slowly and keep your breathing steady

never plunge alone, and never after alcohol

get out at once if you feel dizzy, numb or unwell

This article is general information, not medical advice.

24-hour gyms in Singapore: who is really open all night, and what a 3am session costs

Public gyms shut at 10pm. After that your choices are a private pod from S$6 per half hour or a commercial chain on contract. Here is what we could confirm.

If you want to train at 3am in Singapore, the public gyms cannot help you. ActiveSG gyms open from 7am to 10pm. After 10pm you have two kinds of choice: a private pod you rent by the half hour, or a commercial 24-hour chain that wants a contract.

The pod is cheaper for the occasional night session. The chain is cheaper once you train at night three or more times a week.

The options compared

The commercial prices come from our Singapore gym membership price index, last verified on 12 July 2026. Confirm the current quote with the outlet you plan to use.

The Gym Pod: no contract, pay for the time

The Gym Pod rents small private gyms through an app. Its site says pods open 24 hours daily. You pick a pod, choose a slot and pay for that session.

A booking lasts 30 minutes, and the price depends on the clock.

| Time | Per 30 minutes | Per hour | |---|---|---| | Off-peak, 11pm to 6am | S$6 | S$12 | | Standard, 6am to 5pm | S$9 | S$18 | | Premium, 5pm to 11pm | S$12 | S$24 |

The night owl gets the best deal. An hour at 1am costs S$12, half the 7pm price, and a guest adds S$1.50 per session. New users get 50% off a first booking.

The sums are simple. Four one-hour night sessions a month cost S$48. Eight cost S$96, which is where a S$98 membership draws level. Above eight night sessions a month, a chain is cheaper.

A pod is also private, which matters to some people at 2am. Nobody else is in the room.

Commercial chains: cheaper per session, with a contract

Anytime Fitness. Its Singapore page states "Open 24 hours" and advertises access to more than 6,000 gyms worldwide, with a free trial offer. It does not publish one national price. Our July index recorded S$98 to S$158 a month depending on the outlet, with the lowest rates on contracts of about 18 months. The network is the reason to choose it: one membership opens the club near home and the club near work.

24/7 Fitness. Our July index recorded S$98 a month on a 12-month contract and S$178 a month with no contract. One caution from today: the chain's Singapore web address did not load securely when we checked on 5 October 2026, although its global site worked. Phone the outlet for a current quote instead of relying on a web page.

MSFIT. A 24-hour women-only gym on Cecil Street in the CBD. It does not publish prices. For women who train before or after office hours and want a female-only floor, the hours are the selling point.

Our roundup of the best gyms in Singapore covers how these compare on equipment and space.

Check that "24 hours" means your outlet

A chain's 24-hour claim describes its model. It does not guarantee every outlet, on every night.

Outlets inside malls and office buildings can depend on the building's own access after hours. Staffed hours are often shorter than opening hours, so a problem at 3am may have nobody on site to fix it. Cleaning and maintenance can close a floor for part of a night.

Before you sign, ask the outlet three questions:

Can I enter at any hour, every day, including public holidays?

Which entrance works after the building's main doors lock?

Are there staff on site overnight, and if not, what happens in an emergency?

Then visit once at the hour you plan to train. A gym at 1am is a different place from the same gym at 6pm.

Training alone at night

Empty gyms are pleasant. They also mean nobody is there if a lift goes wrong.

Use safety arms or pins for squats and bench press, set at the right height.

Leave the heaviest singles for a session with a spotter.

Tell someone where you are, and keep your phone within reach.

Know where the emergency button and the exit are before you start.

If you can shift your hours

Late does not have to mean after 10pm. ActiveSG gyms stay open until 10pm for S$2.50, and the last 90 minutes are often quieter than the after-work peak. If an 8:30pm start works, you do not need a 24-hour gym at all. Our guide to walk-in gyms in Singapore lists all 30, and pay-per-use gyms in Singapore has the price comparison.

Frequently asked questions

Are ActiveSG gyms open 24 hours?

No. The ActiveSG gyms we checked open from 7am to 10pm daily.

What is the cheapest 24-hour gym in Singapore?

Is Anytime Fitness open 24 hours in Singapore?

Its Singapore page says "Open 24 hours". Confirm access rules with your outlet.

Is there a 24-hour gym for women only?

MSFIT on Cecil Street describes itself as a 24-hour women's gym.

Can I use a 24-hour gym without a membership?

Yes at The Gym Pod, which charges per booking.

CCK gym: the Choa Chu Kang ActiveSG gym was the busiest public gym when we checked. Here is how to use it

The gym on level 3 of Choa Chu Kang Sport Centre opens 7am to 10pm for S$2.50. At lunchtime it was 81% full, the highest of 30 public gyms. Timing matters here.

The public gym in Choa Chu Kang is Choa Chu Kang ActiveSG Gym, on level 3 of Choa Chu Kang Sport Centre, 1 Choa Chu Kang Street 53, Singapore 689236. It opens from 7am to 10pm every day, and one entry costs S$2.50 for an adult Singapore citizen or permanent resident.

It is also popular. When we checked ActiveSG's live crowd page at 12:35pm on Monday 5 October 2026, this gym was 81% full. That was the highest figure of all 30 public gyms at that minute, and it was a weekday lunchtime, not the evening peak.

Hours and how to get in

| Detail | What ActiveSG lists | |---|---| | Hours | 7am to 10pm, daily | | Weekly closure | None listed | | Address | 1 Choa Chu Kang Street 53, Singapore 689236 | | Floor | Level 3; the pool is on level 2 | | Phone | 6767 1735 or 6767 4576 | | Label | Inclusive gym |

All facilities are reachable by lift. ActiveSG also notes a ramp from level 1 to level 2 at the main entrance, and an accessible toilet at the gym.

The facility page showed no closure announcements on 5 October 2026. The gym was formerly known as Choa Chu Kang ClubFITT Gym, so older signs and articles use that name.

The crowd problem, and what to do about it

Here is the same minute at the public gyms nearest to Choa Chu Kang.

| Gym | Crowd at 12:35pm, 5 October 2026 | |---|---| | Choa Chu Kang | 81% | | Bukit Gombak | 63% | | Senja-Cashew | 62% | | Bukit Batok | 48% | | Jurong Lake Gardens | 24% |

One reading does not make a pattern. It does tell you that this gym can be busy in the middle of a working day, when most gyms are at their quietest.

Three ways to work with that:

Check before you leave. The crowd page updates through the day. If Choa Chu Kang shows a high number, look at Bukit Batok or Bukit Gombak.

Go at the edges. Public gyms are often calmer just after opening at 7am and in the last 90 minutes before 10pm.

Plan a session that does not need the busiest kit. If the racks are full, dumbbells and machines can carry the day. A written plan B saves 20 minutes of standing around.

A MyActiveGYM pass works at every ActiveSG gym, so switching gyms on a busy night costs nothing extra.

What entry costs

These rates are from the ActiveSG individual rates page, checked on 5 October 2026.

| Option | Adult, citizen or PR | Student or senior citizen | |---|---|---| | Single entry | S$2.50 | S$1.50 | | MyActiveGYM peak, 1 month | S$30 | S$18 | | MyActiveGYM peak, 12 months | S$300 | S$180 | | MyActiveGYM off-peak, 1 month | S$15 | S$9 |

The adult standard rate is S$3.30. Singapore citizens aged 65 and above enter ActiveSG gyms and pools free by scanning an NRIC at the entrance.

The off-peak pass covers Monday to Friday from opening until 4pm. Given the lunchtime figure above, do not assume off-peak hours are empty here. Our guide to ActiveSG gym and swim passes covers every pass type.

The pool one floor down

Choa Chu Kang Swimming Complex is on level 2. It is a feature pool with a wave pool, a slide and a spa pool, and it closes every Monday. Entry is S$1.50 on weekdays and S$2.00 at weekends for an adult citizen or permanent resident.

A weekday gym session plus a swim costs S$4.00. Our guide to Choa Chu Kang Swimming Complex has the hours, the early lap session and the pass you need.

What else is at the sport centre

ActiveSG describes Choa Chu Kang Sport Centre as an integrated site that opened in 2001, with a stadium that hosts inter-school athletics meets. It notes that the centre sits between two MRT stations.

ActiveSG does not publish an equipment list or a floor size for the gym. Given how busy it gets, visit once at your usual hour before you buy a long pass.

Who should train here

It suits Choa Chu Kang residents who want a gym and a pool on one site without a contract. It suits families, because the wave pool keeps children busy while a parent trains.

It suits people who hate waiting less well. If a full gym ruins your session, make Jurong Lake Gardens or Bukit Batok your regular gym instead, or look at a commercial gym with more floor space. Our comparison of ActiveSG versus commercial gyms covers when paying more is worth it, and walk-in gyms in Singapore lists all 30 public gyms.

The gym at 30 Yuan Ching Road opens 7am to 10pm daily for S$2.50, has air-pressure machines and was 24% full at lunchtime. The pool beside it closes on Thursday.

The public gym in the Lakeside area is Jurong Lake Gardens ActiveSG Gym, at 30 Yuan Ching Road, Singapore 618664. It opens from 7am to 10pm every day, and one entry costs S$2.50 for an adult Singapore citizen or permanent resident.

Its best feature is not on the equipment list. When we checked ActiveSG's live crowd page at 12:35pm on Monday 5 October 2026, this gym was 24% full. Only one of the 30 public gyms was quieter.

Hours and location

| Detail | What ActiveSG lists | |---|---| | Hours | 7am to 10pm, daily | | Weekly closure | None listed | | Address | 30 Yuan Ching Road, Singapore 618664 | | Floor | Ground floor | | Phone | 6970 1619 | | Label | Inclusive gym |

The gym is part of ActiveSG Park, which the National Parks Board describes as sitting at the south of Jurong Lake Gardens. The park also has a swimming pool, workout classes, a wheelchair-accessible rooftop garden and an exercise playground.

The facility page showed no closure announcements on 5 October 2026.

What is inside

ActiveSG lists HUR machines at this gym. They use air pressure for resistance in place of a weight stack, so the load starts light and rises in small steps. That suits older adults, beginners and anyone training around an injury. Our guide to gyms for seniors in Singapore explains why it matters.

The gym is on the ground floor with an accessible toilet inside it, which is the simplest access of any ActiveSG gym we have looked at. There is no lift to find.

ActiveSG does not publish a full equipment list or a floor size for this site. Visit once before you plan a programme around a particular rack or machine.

How quiet is it?

Here is the same minute at the public gyms in the west.

| Gym | Crowd at 12:35pm, 5 October 2026 | |---|---| | Hockey Village @ Boon Lay | 22% | | Jurong Lake Gardens | 24% | | Jurong West | 27% | | Jurong East | 37% | | Bukit Batok | 48% | | Clementi | 66% | | Choa Chu Kang | 81% |

One lunchtime is not a pattern, and evenings are busier everywhere. Still, a gym inside a garden, away from a town centre, has fewer people walking past its door. Check the live crowd page before you leave. If this gym shows a low number at 7pm, it is worth the extra travel.

What entry costs

These rates are from the ActiveSG individual rates page, checked on 5 October 2026.

| Option | Adult, citizen or PR | Student or senior citizen | |---|---|---| | Single entry | S$2.50 | S$1.50 | | MyActiveGYM peak, 1 month | S$30 | S$18 | | MyActiveGYM off-peak, 1 month | S$15 | S$9 | | MyActiveGYM off-peak, 12 months | S$80 | S$80 |

The adult standard rate is S$3.30. Singapore citizens aged 65 and above enter ActiveSG gyms and pools free by scanning an NRIC at the entrance. Our guide to ActiveSG gym and swim passes covers every pass type.

The pool beside it

Jurong Lake Gardens Pool shares the address and the phone number.

| Pool detail | What ActiveSG lists | |---|---| | Standard hours | 8am to 9:30pm, every day except Thursday | | Early session | 6:30am to 8am on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, competition pool only | | Thursday | Closed all day for weekly maintenance | | Thursday public holidays | Open 8am to 9:30pm | | Pool type | Normal |

It is a normal pool, so an adult swim costs S$1.00 on weekdays and S$1.30 at weekends. The page lists a ramp into the pool area, a pool wheelchair on request and a shower buddy service on request.

A weekday gym session and a swim cost S$3.50 together. Thursday is the day the pool is shut.

Make a morning of it

The gym sits inside Jurong Lake Gardens, so the warm-up can be a walk or an easy run by the lake. Two notes for families: the gardens' website lists Clusia Cove, the water play area, as closed for maintenance until further notice, and the play areas normally close on Mondays. Our guide to water playgrounds in Singapore has the alternatives.

Who should train here

It suits people in Lakeside, Taman Jurong and Boon Lay who want a calm public gym. It suits older adults and beginners, because of the HUR machines and the ground-floor access. It suits anyone who likes to pair a gym session with a walk or a swim.

It suits commuters less well. The gym is in a park and not beside a station, so it works best if you live nearby or drive. If you need a gym closer to a station, our guide to walk-in gyms in Singapore lists every public gym in the west.

ActiveSG gym and swim passes explained: every pass type, what it costs and which one to buy

ActiveSG sells single entries, monthly passes and two kinds of swim pass. Buying the wrong one is the most common mistake at the gate. Here is the full menu.

The cheapest gym pass in Singapore is an ActiveSG single entry at S$2.50. The best value for regular users is the MyActiveGYM monthly pass at S$30, or S$15 if you only train on weekday daytimes. For the pool, a normal swim pass is S$1.00 on a weekday and a feature pass is S$1.50, and they are not interchangeable.

This guide covers the passes for Singapore's public gyms and pools. Commercial gyms sell memberships, which our Singapore gym membership price index covers.

Every ActiveSG pass in one table

Prices are from the ActiveSG individual rates page, checked on 5 October 2026.

Gym passes

A single entry costs S$2.50 for an adult citizen or permanent resident, S$1.50 for a student or senior citizen, and S$3.30 at the standard rate for everyone else.

MyActiveGYM is the unlimited pass. ActiveSG says it is for members aged 12 and above and gives access to all its gyms islandwide. It comes in two kinds.

| MyActiveGYM | 1 month | 6 months | 12 months | |---|---|---|---| | Peak, adult aged 18 to 54 | S$30 | S$160 | S$300 | | Peak, student aged 12 to 17, or senior aged 55 and above | S$18 | S$95 | S$180 | | Off-peak, adult | S$15 | S$40 | S$80 | | Off-peak, student or senior | S$9 | S$40 | S$80 |

Peak means every day, at all opening hours. Off-peak means Monday to Friday from opening until 4pm, and excludes public holidays.

Two sums decide it. The peak pass breaks even at 12 visits a month. And the 6-month off-peak pass at S$40 costs less than three monthly off-peak passes, so anyone who wants off-peak access should skip the monthly version.

Swim passes

The pool has a trap the gym does not: two classes of complex.

A normal complex has basic pools. A feature complex has slides, a wave pool, a lazy river or similar. ActiveSG lists six feature complexes: Choa Chu Kang, Heartbeat @ Bedok, Jurong East, Jurong West, Pasir Ris and Sengkang. Everything else is normal.

| Swim entry, citizen or PR | Weekday | Weekend and public holiday | |---|---|---| | Adult, normal pool | S$1.00 | S$1.30 | | Child or senior citizen, normal pool | S$0.50 | S$0.60 | | Adult, feature pool | S$1.50 | S$2.00 | | Child or senior citizen, feature pool | S$0.80 | S$1.00 |

A normal pass does not open a feature pool. Each facility page states the pool type under its name, so check before you buy.

MyActiveSWIM is the unlimited swim pass. It costs S$10 a month for an adult and S$5 a month for a child or a senior citizen, and covers every ActiveSG swimming complex at all opening hours. An adult who swims at a normal pool on weekdays breaks even at 10 swims a month.

There is no combined gym and swim pass. If you want both, buy both: S$40 a month for an adult at peak rates.

Who pays nothing, and who pays more

Singapore citizens aged 65 and above enter ActiveSG gyms and pools free. ActiveSG's help site says no pass is needed: scan your NRIC at the entrance.

New members who are citizens or permanent residents get a one-time S$100 in ActiveSG credits, according to the same help site. Credits can pay for gym and swim passes. S$100 covers 40 gym entries, or a 12-month off-peak pass with S$20 to spare.

Foreigners who live in Singapore and have Singpass can sign up for MyActiveSG+ and buy passes. They pay the standard rate, such as S$3.30 for the gym.

Tourists and visitors without Singpass may buy single-entry passes at ActiveSG pools and gyms. They cannot book courts or join programmes.

ActiveSG adds one caution: some multi-entry pass types are limited to citizens and permanent residents. If a pass type does not appear on your account, it is not available for your profile, and single entries still are.

How to buy

Buy in MyActiveSG+, the ActiveSG app and website, and scan in at the gate. The app shows the passes your profile can buy, with concession prices applied.

Three checks before you pay:

Pool type. Normal or feature.

Pool closure day. Every pool closes one full day a week, and the day differs by complex.

Crowd. ActiveSG's live crowd page shows how full each gym and pool is.

Which pass for which person

| You are | Buy | |---|---| | Trying the gym for the first time | Single entries, paid with your S$100 credits | | Training two times a week | Single entries: S$20 a month | | Training three or more times a week, after work | MyActiveGYM peak, monthly first | | Free on weekday daytimes | MyActiveGYM off-peak, 6 or 12 months | | Swimming laps three times a week | MyActiveSWIM | | A citizen aged 65 or above | Nothing. Scan your NRIC |

Once the habit has lasted a few months, a longer pass saves money. Our guide to yearly gym memberships has the break-even sums, and pay-per-use gyms in Singapore compares single entries with private pods. To find a gym, see walk-in gyms in Singapore.

Frequently asked questions

How much is an ActiveSG gym pass?

S$2.50 for a single entry, or S$30 a month for MyActiveGYM at peak and S$15 off-peak, for an adult citizen or permanent resident.

Yishun gym: the ActiveSG gym is closed until 30 November 2026, and where to train instead

ActiveSG lists the whole Yishun gym as closed from 1 October to 30 November 2026. Here are the nearest public gyms, what they cost and what reopens when.

Yishun ActiveSG Gym is closed. ActiveSG lists the entire facility as shut from 1 October to 30 November 2026 for upgrading, maintenance or repair, with no further detail. The gym's normal hours of 7am to 10pm daily do not apply until it reopens.

If you hold a MyActiveGYM pass, you lose nothing. The pass works at every other ActiveSG gym, and the largest one in the country is two MRT stops away.

What the closure notice says

| Detail | What ActiveSG lists | |---|---| | Closed | Entire facility, 1 October to 30 November 2026 | | Reason given | Upgrading, maintenance, urgent repair or events | | Normal hours | 7am to 10pm, daily | | Address | 101 Yishun Avenue 1, Singapore 769130 | | Phone | 6756 7416 |

We read the notice on 5 October 2026. ActiveSG's live gym crowd page showed Yishun at 0% full that day, which fits a closed gym.

Closure dates can move. Before you travel to the gym in early December, check the facility page. If it shows no closure announcement, or the crowd page shows a percentage above zero, it is open again.

Where to train instead

All three alternatives open from 7am to 10pm daily and charge the same S$2.50 entry.

Bukit Canberra ActiveSG Gym, Sembawang. This is the obvious swap. It is the largest ActiveSG gym at 1,500 square metres, about 7 minutes on foot from Sembawang MRT, which is two stops north of Yishun on the North-South Line. It has HUR air-pressure machines, a swimming complex and a hawker centre in the same building. It is also popular: at 12:35pm on 5 October it was 67% full. Our guide to the Bukit Canberra gym covers it in full.

Yio Chu Kang ActiveSG Gym. Two stops south of Yishun on the same line. It was 53% full at the same time.

Woodlands ActiveSG Gym. Further north-west on the North-South Line. It was the quietest of the three at 39%.

Those crowd figures are one lunchtime, not a forecast. Open the crowd page before you leave and pick the emptier gym.

What the Yishun gym offers when it is open

ActiveSG describes Yishun ActiveSG Gym as a gym with exercise machines, free weights and functional training equipment, for both strength and cardio work. Its facility list names a free weights area, exercise equipment and 8 treadmills. It was formerly called Yishun ClubFITT Gym.

A two-month closure for upgrading may change that list. We will not guess at what the works include, because ActiveSG has not said.

What entry costs at any ActiveSG gym

| Option | Adult, citizen or PR | Student or senior citizen | |---|---|---| | Single entry | S$2.50 | S$1.50 | | MyActiveGYM peak, 1 month | S$30 | S$18 | | MyActiveGYM peak, 12 months | S$300 | S$180 | | MyActiveGYM off-peak, 1 month | S$15 | S$9 |

These rates are from the ActiveSG individual rates page, checked on 5 October 2026. The adult standard rate is S$3.30. Singapore citizens aged 65 and above enter free by scanning an NRIC at the entrance.

If you bought a monthly pass for Yishun, keep using it elsewhere. If you pay per entry and the longer trip means you will train less, do not buy a monthly pass until the gym reopens. Our guide to pay-per-use gyms in Singapore shows where the break-even sits.

If you do not want to travel

Two options keep you in Yishun.

Train outdoors. Fitness corners in the estate and in the parks nearby have pull-up bars and parallel bars. Two months of push-ups, pull-ups, split squats and carries will hold your strength. Our 20-minute home strength routine needs no equipment at all.

Use a commercial gym for two months. Check the contract length first. Budget chains price their lowest rate on 12 months, which makes no sense for a two-month gap. Ask for a rolling or short-term rate, and compare it with the bus fare to Sembawang. Our Singapore gym membership price index lists dated prices for the main chains.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Yishun ActiveSG gym open?

No. ActiveSG lists the entire facility as closed from 1 October to 30 November 2026.

When will the Yishun gym reopen?

The closure notice ends on 30 November 2026. Check the ActiveSG facility page for changes.

What is the nearest ActiveSG gym to Yishun?

Bukit Canberra in Sembawang and Yio Chu Kang are each two MRT stops away on the North-South Line.

Can I use my MyActiveGYM pass at another gym?

Yes. The pass gives access to all ActiveSG gyms islandwide.

What are the Yishun gym's normal hours?

7am to 10pm daily.

Yearly gym memberships in Singapore: when 12 months upfront beats paying monthly

A year of ActiveSG costs S$300, or S$80 off-peak. A commercial 12-month contract can cut the monthly price by S$80. Here are the break-even sums and the risk.

A yearly gym membership in Singapore saves money in two cases. At ActiveSG, 12 months costs S$300 against S$360 for twelve monthly passes, and the off-peak year costs S$80 against S$180. At a commercial gym, a 12-month contract can cut the monthly price from about S$178 to about S$98.

The saving is real only if you keep going. The sums below show how many months you need to last before the yearly deal wins.

Yearly versus monthly, in numbers

ActiveSG prices are from its individual rates page, checked on 5 October 2026. The 24/7 Fitness figures come from our Singapore gym membership price index, which recorded S$98 a month on a 12-month contract and S$178 a month rolling when we last verified it on 12 July 2026. Confirm the current quote with the outlet.

"Break even" means the month at which the yearly price equals what you would have paid month by month. Quit before it and the monthly route was cheaper.

ActiveSG: the low-risk year

ActiveSG sells its gym pass in three lengths.

| Pass | 1 month | 6 months | 12 months | |---|---|---|---| | Peak, adult | S$30 | S$160 | S$300 | | Off-peak, adult | S$15 | S$40 | S$80 | | Peak, student or senior citizen | S$18 | S$95 | S$180 | | Off-peak, student or senior citizen | S$9 | S$40 | S$80 |

Three things stand out.

The peak year is a modest discount. S$300 for 12 months is S$25 a month, a saving of S$60 across the year. You need to last 10 months to come out ahead. If you are unsure, the monthly pass costs you only S$5 a month more for the freedom to stop.

The off-peak year is the bargain. S$80 for a year is about S$6.70 a month. It beats monthly passes after six months, and it beats single entries after 32 visits. The off-peak pass covers Monday to Friday from opening until 4pm and excludes public holidays, so it only works if your days are free.

The 6-month off-peak pass is priced oddly. At S$40 it costs less than three monthly off-peak passes. If you want off-peak access at all, skip the monthly pass and buy six months.

A yearly pass also covers every ActiveSG gym on the island. Moving house or changing jobs does not strand it. And if you are a Singapore citizen aged 65 or above, buy nothing: entry is free.

Commercial gyms: bigger saving, bigger risk

Commercial chains price the other way round. The headline rate is the long-contract rate, and the flexible rate costs far more.

Our price index shows the pattern. 24/7 Fitness was S$98 a month on 12 months and S$178 a month with no contract. Anytime Fitness quoted its lowest rates on contracts of about 18 months. Virgin Active tied its lowest weekly rate to 12 to 24 months.

On the 24/7 Fitness numbers, the 12-month contract costs S$1,176 for the year. Rolling membership costs S$178 a month, so it passes S$1,176 during month seven. Stay seven months or longer and the contract wins. Leave in month four and you have paid, or still owe, the rest.

So before you sign, read three clauses:

Early exit. What do you owe if you stop? Some contracts bill the remaining months in full.

Freeze. Can you pause for travel, injury or reservist duty, and for how long?

Renewal. Does the contract roll into another term unless you cancel in writing?

There is one more risk with paying a full year in cash upfront. If a gym closes, members who prepaid stand in line with other creditors. Paying by monthly instalment on a 12-month contract keeps the discount and limits what you can lose.

How to decide

You have never held a gym habit for three months. Do not buy a year anywhere. Pay S$2.50 a visit at ActiveSG, or use a monthly pass. Our guide to pay-per-use gyms in Singapore has the sums.

You train on weekday daytimes. Buy the ActiveSG off-peak year at S$80. Nothing else in Singapore comes close on price.

You train three or more times a week and have done so for months. A year makes sense. Choose ActiveSG at S$300 if a public gym covers your programme, or a commercial 12-month contract if you need 24-hour access or specific equipment.

You are choosing between public and commercial. Read ActiveSG versus commercial gyms first, and is a gym membership worth it in Singapore for the wider question.

Frequently asked questions

How much is a yearly gym membership in Singapore?

At ActiveSG, S$300 for a peak adult pass and S$80 off-peak. At budget commercial chains, a 12-month contract was about S$98 a month, or S$1,176 a year, when we last verified prices in July 2026.

Is a yearly gym membership cheaper than monthly?

Yes, if you last long enough. At ActiveSG the peak year beats monthly passes after 10 months, and the off-peak year after six.

Can I cancel a 12-month gym contract?

It depends on the contract. Ask what you owe on early exit before you sign.

Is the ActiveSG yearly pass valid at all gyms?

Yes. MyActiveGYM gives access to all ActiveSG gyms islandwide.

Should I pay a full year upfront?

At ActiveSG the amount is small and the operator is the government. At a commercial gym, monthly instalments on a 12-month contract limit your loss if the gym closes.

The public gym at 120 Pasir Ris Central opens 7am to 10pm daily for S$2.50. Its web page carries a confusing notice. The gym was open when we checked.

The public gym in Pasir Ris is Pasir Ris ActiveSG Gym, inside Pasir Ris Sport Centre at 120 Pasir Ris Central, Singapore 519640. It opens from 7am to 10pm every day, and one entry costs S$2.50 for an adult Singapore citizen or permanent resident.

One thing may confuse you. The gym's official page carries a notice that tells users to visit the gyms at Our Tampines Hub and Heartbeat @ Bedok instead. The notice has no dates and no reason. The gym was open when we checked on 5 October 2026.

Is the Pasir Ris gym open?

Yes, on the evidence of two official pages checked on 5 October 2026.

The facility page said: no closure announcements, facility open as per operating hours. ActiveSG's live gym crowd page showed Pasir Ris ActiveSG Gym at 48% full at 12:35pm that day. A closed gym does not fill to 48%.

The notice on the page looks like a leftover from an earlier closure. If you want certainty on the day, open the crowd page. A gym that shows a percentage is open.

Hours and location

| Detail | What ActiveSG lists | |---|---| | Hours | 7am to 10pm, daily | | Weekly closure | None listed | | Address | 120 Pasir Ris Central, Singapore 519640 | | Phone | 6583 9891 or 6583 2696 | | Managed by | Pasir Ris Sport Centre |

The sport centre sits in the town centre, a short walk from Pasir Ris MRT. ActiveSG notes that the building holds a Green Mark Gold Plus award, with rainwater harvesting for the plants, green walls to cut heat and solar cells on site. None of that changes your workout, but it is a pleasant building to train in.

ActiveSG does not publish an equipment list or a floor size for this gym, so we will not guess. Visit once at the hour you plan to train.

What gym entry costs

These rates are from the ActiveSG individual rates page, checked on 5 October 2026.

| Option | Adult, citizen or PR | Student or senior citizen | |---|---|---| | Single entry | S$2.50 | S$1.50 | | MyActiveGYM peak, 1 month | S$30 | S$18 | | MyActiveGYM peak, 12 months | S$300 | S$180 | | MyActiveGYM off-peak, 1 month | S$15 | S$9 |

The adult standard rate, for people who are not citizens or permanent residents, is S$3.30.

Singapore citizens aged 65 and above enter ActiveSG gyms and swimming pools free. ActiveSG's help site says no pass is needed: scan your NRIC at the entrance.

The off-peak pass covers Monday to Friday from opening until 4pm and excludes public holidays. The peak pass breaks even at 12 visits a month. Our guide to pay-per-use gyms in Singapore has the full sums.

The pool next door

Pasir Ris Swimming Complex shares the address. It is a feature pool, which is ActiveSG's term for a complex with slides, wave pools or similar water features.

| Pool detail | What ActiveSG lists | |---|---| | Standard hours | 8am to 9:30pm, every day except Wednesday | | Early session | 6:30am to 8am on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, competition pool only | | Wednesday | Closed all day for weekly maintenance | | Wednesday public holidays | Open 8am to 9:30pm | | Phone | 6583 8557 |

Feature pool entry is S$1.50 on weekdays and S$2.00 at weekends for an adult citizen or permanent resident. Children and senior citizens pay S$0.80 and S$1.00. Buy a feature pass in the ActiveSG app, because a normal swim pass does not cover this complex.

A weekday gym session plus a swim costs S$4.00. Wednesday is the day that plan fails, so make Wednesday a gym-only day.

When to go

At 12:35pm on a Monday, the gym was at 48%. That is a lunchtime figure, and public gyms get busier after work. Use the crowd page for a live number. It lists every ActiveSG gym, so you can also see whether Tampines or Bedok is quieter before you choose.

If Pasir Ris does not suit you

Two other public gyms are close by on the East-West Line.

Tampines ActiveSG Gym, on level 7 of Our Tampines Hub, which Sport Singapore describes as one of its biggest gyms

Heartbeat @ Bedok ActiveSG Gym, with two 8-lane pools one floor down

A MyActiveGYM pass works at all three. If you need to train before 7am or after 10pm, you need a 24-hour commercial gym. Our Singapore gym membership price index lists what those charge, and ActiveSG versus commercial gyms covers the decision.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Pasir Ris ActiveSG gym closed?

No. On 5 October 2026 the facility page listed no closure and the live crowd page showed the gym 48% full. The page carries an undated notice that points to other gyms.

What time does the Pasir Ris gym open?

7am to 10pm daily, according to the ActiveSG facility page.

How much is the Pasir Ris gym?

S$2.50 a visit for adult citizens and permanent residents, S$1.50 for students and senior citizens, and S$3.30 at the standard rate. Singapore citizens aged 65 and above enter free.

Is the Pasir Ris swimming pool open on Wednesday?

No. The pool closes all day every Wednesday, unless the Wednesday is a public holiday. The gym stays open.

Where is the gym?

Inside Pasir Ris Sport Centre, 120 Pasir Ris Central, Singapore 519640.

Free gyms in Singapore: who gets in free, what S$100 of ActiveSG credits buys and what free trials cost

Citizens aged 65 and above enter every ActiveSG gym free. New members get S$100 in credits, which is 40 gym visits. Everything else called free has a catch.

There are three real ways to use a gym for free in Singapore. Singapore citizens aged 65 and above enter every ActiveSG gym and pool free. New ActiveSG members who are citizens or permanent residents get S$100 in credits, which pays for 40 gym visits. And outdoor fitness corners in parks and housing estates cost nothing for anyone.

Everything else that is advertised as free is a trial, and a trial is paid for in time and sales pressure.

The options compared

Free entry from 65

ActiveSG's help site states that Singapore citizens aged 65 and above enjoy free entry to ActiveSG swimming pools and gyms. No pass purchase is needed. You scan your NRIC at the entrance.

That covers 30 gyms across the island, at every opening hour. The rule applies to citizens only. Permanent residents and other residents aged 55 and above pay the senior rate of S$1.50 a visit instead.

If you are in this group and new to training, our guide to gyms for seniors in Singapore covers which gyms have machines that start light.

S$100 in ActiveSG credits

ActiveSG gives a one-time top-up of S$100 in credits to new, eligible members who are Singapore citizens or permanent residents. Its help site says the credits should appear in your MyActiveSG+ account on your first login.

The credits work like money inside ActiveSG. You can use them to offset gym and swim passes, facility bookings and programmes, at the point of payment in MyActiveSG+.

Here is what S$100 buys at the rates on the ActiveSG individual rates page.

| Use | Unit price | What S$100 covers | |---|---|---| | Gym single entry, adult | S$2.50 | 40 visits | | Normal pool, adult, weekday | S$1.00 | 100 swims | | MyActiveGYM off-peak, 12 months | S$80 | A full year, with S$20 left | | MyActiveGYM peak, 1 month | S$30 | 3 months, with S$10 left |

The third row is the one to notice. If you can train on weekdays before 4pm, the credit pays for a year of unlimited off-peak gym access at every ActiveSG gym and leaves S$20 for swims.

One caution: the help page that describes the S$100 top-up was last updated about two years ago. If the credits do not appear on your first login, ask ActiveSG before you assume you have them.

Fitness corners

Parks and public housing estates across Singapore have outdoor fitness corners with pull-up bars, parallel bars, sit-up benches and simple body-weight machines. They are free and open to all at any hour.

They are better than their reputation. Pull-ups, dips, push-ups, rows on a low bar, split squats and step-ups cover most of the body. What a fitness corner lacks is adjustable load. Once 12 repetitions feel easy, you have to slow the movement, add a pause or carry a loaded backpack.

Our guide to getting fit in Singapore on almost no budget builds a full week around free facilities, and our 20-minute home strength routine covers the days it rains.

Free trials at commercial gyms

Many gym chains advertise a free trial. Read it as a sales appointment that includes a workout.

That is fine if you are choosing a gym. Use the trial properly: go at the hour you would normally train, count how many people are waiting for the racks, and ask for the price in writing before you leave. Do not sign on the day. Our guide to whether a gym membership is worth it in Singapore covers the questions to ask.

It is a poor deal if you only wanted a free session. An hour of your time and a hard sell cost more than S$2.50.

What "nearly free" looks like

If you fit none of the free groups, the public gym is still close to free.

A single entry is S$2.50, or S$1.50 for students and senior citizens.

An off-peak monthly pass is S$15, or S$9 for students and senior citizens.

A swim is S$1.00 on a weekday at a normal pool.

Our guide to pay-per-use gyms in Singapore has the full price table, and walk-in gyms in Singapore lists all 30 public gyms.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a free gym in Singapore?

Yes, for some people. Singapore citizens aged 65 and above enter every ActiveSG gym free. Outdoor fitness corners are free for everyone.

How do I get the S$100 ActiveSG credits?

ActiveSG says new, eligible members who are citizens or permanent residents receive a one-time S$100 top-up, shown in MyActiveSG+ on first login.

What can ActiveSG credits pay for?

Gym and swim passes, sport facility bookings, ActiveSG programmes and Active Health programmes.

Are free gym trials really free?

They cost no money. Expect a membership pitch at the end.

How much is ActiveSG if I do not qualify for free entry?

S$2.50 a visit for adult citizens and permanent residents, S$1.50 for students and senior citizens, and S$3.30 at the standard rate.

Walk-in gyms in Singapore: 30 public gyms that need no membership, and how to check the crowd first

Every ActiveSG gym takes walk-ins at S$2.50, and tourists can buy a single entry too. A live page shows how full each gym is. Here is the list and the method.

The simplest walk-in gym in Singapore is any ActiveSG gym. There are 30 of them, none needs a membership contract, and one visit costs S$2.50 for an adult citizen or permanent resident, or S$3.30 for anyone else. ActiveSG also runs a live page that shows how full each gym is, so you can pick a quiet one before you leave.

Commercial gyms mostly work the other way. They sell memberships, and a casual visitor gets a sales tour before a workout.

The 30 public gyms that take walk-ins

These are the gyms on ActiveSG's live crowd page. The figure beside each is how full it was at 12:35pm on Monday 5 October 2026. Treat the numbers as an example of the spread, not a forecast.

| Region | Gyms, with crowd level at 12:35pm | |---|---| | North | Bukit Canberra 67%, Woodlands 39%, Yishun closed for works | | North-east | Ang Mo Kio Community Centre 32%, Teck Ghee 34%, Yio Chu Kang 53%, Fernvale Square 65%, Sengkang 61%, Hougang 48%, Serangoon Central 43% | | East | Tampines 66%, Pasir Ris 48%, Heartbeat @ Bedok 47%, Katong 52% | | Central | Bishan 46%, Toa Payoh 50%, Toa Payoh West Community Centre 27%, Jalan Besar 55%, Delta 41%, Queenstown 53%, Enabling Village 27% | | West | Clementi 66%, Jurong East 37%, Jurong West 27%, Jurong Lake Gardens 24%, Hockey Village @ Boon Lay 22%, Bukit Batok 48%, Bukit Gombak 63%, Choa Chu Kang 81%, Senja-Cashew 62% |

The regional grouping is ours. The spread is the point. At the same minute, Choa Chu Kang was at 81% and the gym at Jurong Lake Gardens was at 24%. A few stops on the train can be the difference between waiting for every machine and having the floor to yourself.

Yishun showed 0% because it is shut. ActiveSG lists the whole Yishun gym as closed from 1 October to 30 November 2026.

How to walk in

If you have Singpass. Sign up for MyActiveSG+, buy a gym pass in the app and scan in at the gate. Foreigners who live in Singapore and have Singpass can do the same, according to ActiveSG's help site.

If you are a tourist or have no Singpass. ActiveSG says visitors without Singpass cannot book facilities or join programmes, but they may buy single-entry passes at ActiveSG pools and gyms. That makes a public gym the easiest hotel-gym substitute in the country.

If you are a Singapore citizen aged 65 or above. Entry is free. Scan your NRIC at the entrance.

Most ActiveSG gyms we checked open from 7am to 10pm daily. Bring a towel, proper shoes and a padlock.

What it costs

| Visitor | Single entry | |---|---| | Adult, citizen or PR | S$2.50 | | Student or senior citizen, citizen or PR | S$1.50 | | Adult, standard rate | S$3.30 | | Singapore citizen aged 65 and above | Free |

Prices are from the ActiveSG individual rates page, checked on 5 October 2026. Some multi-entry passes are limited to citizens and permanent residents, but single entries are open to all.

Walk-in options that are not ActiveSG

Private pods. The Gym Pod rents a private room by the half hour, 24 hours a day, for S$6 to S$12 a session. You book in its app, so it is closer to "book and walk in" than a true walk-in. Our guide to pay-per-use gyms in Singapore has the prices and the sums.

Commercial gyms. Day passes exist at some clubs, but operators rarely publish the price, and it varies by outlet. Phone the outlet and ask two questions: what a single visit costs, and whether you can train without a sales appointment. If the answer to the second is vague, expect a tour.

Free trials. Many chains offer a trial visit. It is free in money and paid in time, because the trial ends with a membership pitch. That is a fair trade if you are shopping for a gym. It is a poor one if you only wanted a workout.

Which gym to pick

Pick by distance first and crowd second. A gym 10 minutes away that is 60% full beats a quiet one that takes 45 minutes to reach.

If you have a choice of two, these notes may help:

For the most floor space, Bukit Canberra is the largest ActiveSG gym at 1,500 square metres.

For a swim afterwards, choose a site with a pool. Our guide to gyms with swimming pools lists eight.

For older adults and beginners, choose a gym that lists HUR air-pressure machines. Our guide to gyms for seniors names four.

If you end up walking in three times a week, stop paying per visit. The S$30 monthly pass breaks even at 12 visits, and our comparison of ActiveSG versus commercial gyms covers what to do after that.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. ActiveSG says tourists and visitors without Singpass may buy single-entry passes at its pools and gyms. They cannot book courts or join programmes.

How do I know if a gym is crowded?

ActiveSG's gym and pool crowd page shows how full each gym is, with a time stamp.

What time do ActiveSG gyms open?

The gyms we checked open from 7am to 10pm daily. Check the facility page for your gym.

Is there a gym that is free to walk into?

Clusia Cove at Jurong Lake Gardens is closed until further notice, and Jurong West's play pools are shut until 6 November 2026. Here is what is open, from free to S$2.

Two of Singapore's best-known cheap water playgrounds were shut when we checked on 5 October 2026. Clusia Cove at Jurong Lake Gardens is closed for maintenance until further notice, according to the gardens' own website. The fun pool, water slide and lazy river at Jurong West Swimming Complex are closed from 5 October to 6 November 2026.

Plenty is still open. The free water play area at Gardens by the Bay runs from Thursday to Sunday, and four public pools with slides or play features charge S$2 or less.

What is open and what it costs

Pool prices are for citizens and permanent residents. The lower figure is the weekday rate and the higher one is the weekend rate. All details come from the operators' own pages, checked on 5 October 2026.

The closures in detail

Clusia Cove. The Jurong Lake Gardens website carries a notice that Clusia Cove and the Waterwall Court are closed for maintenance until further notice. It gives no reopening date. In normal operation the play areas close every Monday, and on Tuesday when the Monday is a public holiday.

Jurong West. ActiveSG lists the fun pool, the water slide and the lazy river as closed from 5 October to 6 November 2026. The swimming complex itself stays open, so the app will still sell you a pass. You would pay the feature rate for a plain swim.

Both notices sit at the top of the venue's page. Neither shows up in a search result from last year.

Free: Gardens by the Bay

The Far East Organization Children's Garden is free to enter. It opens from Thursday to Sunday and on public holidays, from 9am to 7pm, with last admission at 6pm. Water play stops at 6:30pm. It is closed on Monday and Tuesday, and its hours widen during school holidays.

The garden sets age ranges for each zone. The toddler play zone is for ages 1 to 5. The water play zone and the tree houses are for ages 6 to 12. The water play area uses motion sensors that trigger jets and sprays as children move through it.

One change for 2026: the usual entrance has been closed since 26 March for bridge construction. Use the new entrance near the Sun Pavilion.

Under S$2: public pools with play features

ActiveSG runs six feature pools, with slides, wave pools or lazy rivers: Choa Chu Kang, Heartbeat @ Bedok, Jurong East, Jurong West, Pasir Ris and Sengkang. A child pays S$0.80 on a weekday and S$1.00 at the weekend. An adult pays S$1.50 and S$2.00.

A family of two adults and two children pays S$6.00 on a Saturday. A grandparent who is a Singapore citizen aged 65 or above enters free by scanning an NRIC at the gate, according to ActiveSG's help site. Buy feature passes in the ActiveSG app, because a normal swim pass does not open these gates.

Two things to check before you choose one:

Height limits. Sengkang lists a minimum of 1.3 m for three of its slides and 1.2 m for the other two. Measure your child at home. Our guide to Sengkang Swimming Complex has the table.

The closure day. Each pool shuts one full day a week. Sengkang and Choa Chu Kang close on Monday, Jurong West on Tuesday, Pasir Ris on Wednesday and Bedok on Thursday.

For small children, a normal pool can be the better choice. Bukit Canberra has a fun pool and a wading pool at the normal rate of S$0.50 for a child on a weekday. Our guide to Bukit Canberra Swimming Complex covers it, and our guide to Choa Chu Kang Swimming Complex covers the wave pool in the west.

What to pack

swimwear and a change of clothes for every child, and for the adult who will get soaked anyway

swim nappies for toddlers

sunscreen, hats and a rash vest, since many water play areas have little shade

water and snacks

a padlock, for lockers at the public pools

footwear with grip, because wet play surfaces are slippery

Stay within reach of young children at all times. Shallow water still carries a drowning risk, and a busy splash zone is a hard place to keep track of one small person.

If it rains

Outdoor water play stops for lightning. ActiveSG says its outdoor facilities may close in bad weather as a safety precaution. Have a dry plan ready. Our list of indoor playgrounds in Singapore is a place to start.

Frequently asked questions

Is Clusia Cove open?

Not on 5 October 2026. The Jurong Lake Gardens website says it is closed for maintenance until further notice.

Which water playgrounds in Singapore are free?

The Far East Organization Children's Garden at Gardens by the Bay is free. Clusia Cove is free when it is open.

How much do public pools with slides cost?

At ActiveSG feature pools, a child pays S$0.80 on weekdays and S$1.00 at weekends. An adult pays S$1.50 and S$2.00. These are rates for citizens and permanent residents.

What days is the Children's Garden at Gardens by the Bay open?

Thursday to Sunday and public holidays, 9am to 7pm, with longer opening days during school holidays.

Is there a height limit for water slides?

At Sengkang Swimming Complex, yes: 1.2 m or 1.3 m depending on the slide. Other pools may set their own limits, so ask the lifeguards.

Gyms with swimming pools in Singapore: eight public sites and what a gym-and-swim day costs

A gym session and a swim on one site costs S$3.50 at ActiveSG. Here are eight sport centres with both, the day each pool closes, and two closures to know about now.

The cheapest gym with a swimming pool in Singapore is a public sport centre. ActiveSG runs at least eight sites where the gym and the pool share an address, and a gym session plus a swim costs S$3.50 on a weekday for an adult citizen or permanent resident.

The catch is the timetable. Every ActiveSG gym on this list opens daily from 7am to 10pm. Every pool closes one full day a week, and the day changes from site to site. Two sites also had part of the pool shut for works when we checked on 5 October 2026.

Eight public sites with a gym and a pool

All details come from the ActiveSG facility pages, checked on 5 October 2026. Pools open from 8am to 9:30pm on their open days. A pool that closes on a weekday stays open if that day is a public holiday.

Closures listed when we checked

Jurong East. The facility page lists the competition pool as closed from 5 April 2025 to 31 December 2026. The early lap session at Jurong East uses the competition pool only, so lap swimmers should treat this site as unavailable for lengths until 2027 unless the page says otherwise.

Jurong West. The fun pool, the water slide and the lazy river are listed as closed from 5 October to 6 November 2026. The rest of the complex stays open. If the children are the reason for the trip, pick another feature pool for those five weeks, and check the page for any extension.

Pasir Ris. The Pasir Ris gym page carries a notice pointing users to the ActiveSG gyms at Our Tampines Hub and Heartbeat @ Bedok, with no dates or reason. The gym was open when we checked: the page listed no closure, and ActiveSG's live crowd page showed it 48% full at 12:28pm on 5 October 2026. Treat the notice as a leftover, and use the crowd page to confirm on the day.

These are the reason to check the closure announcements at the top of a facility page every time. A site can be open while the one pool you wanted is not.

What a gym-and-swim day costs

These are the per-entry rates on the ActiveSG individual rates page, checked on 5 October 2026, for adult citizens and permanent residents.

| Combination | Weekday | Weekend | |---|---|---| | Gym plus normal pool | S$3.50 | S$3.80 | | Gym plus feature pool | S$4.00 | S$4.50 |

The gym entry is S$2.50 on any day. A normal pool is S$1.00 on weekdays and S$1.30 at weekends. A feature pool is S$1.50 and S$2.00.

If you go often, buy the monthly passes instead. MyActiveGYM is S$30 a month at peak, and MyActiveSWIM is S$10 a month. Together that is S$40 a month for unlimited gym and pool at every ActiveSG site. You break even at about 12 combined visits a month.

Buy the right swim pass in the app. A normal pass does not open a feature pool.

Singapore citizens aged 65 and above enter ActiveSG gyms and swimming pools free. ActiveSG's help site says no pass is needed: scan your NRIC at the entrance.

Which site to choose

For lap swimming. Choose a site with an early session and a competition pool: Heartbeat @ Bedok, Sengkang or Jurong West. Bedok has two 8-lane pools, one of them sheltered, which is the strongest lap set-up on the list.

For families. Choose a feature pool: Bedok, Sengkang or Pasir Ris. One parent can lift while the other supervises the slides. Check that Jurong West's play pools have reopened before you choose it.

For older adults and beginners. Choose a gym with HUR air-pressure machines: Bukit Canberra, Teck Ghee, Jurong East or Jurong West. The load on those machines changes in small steps. Our guide to the Bukit Canberra gym explains why that matters.

For the lowest bill. Choose a normal pool site: Bukit Canberra, Our Tampines Hub or Teck Ghee.

What about commercial gyms with pools?

Some premium clubs in Singapore have pools, and so do many condominiums. A club with a pool sits at the expensive end of the market, and a club pool is not always long enough for real lap training.

We have not listed commercial clubs here because pool access varies by outlet and operators do not publish it in one place. Before you pay a premium for a pool, visit the outlet, look at the pool's length and ask when it is busy. Our Singapore gym membership price index lists what the main chains charge, and ActiveSG versus commercial gyms covers when paying more makes sense.

How to use a gym and pool in one visit

Lift first and swim second. Strength work needs fresh legs and a clear head, and an easy swim afterwards works as a cool-down. Twenty minutes of relaxed lengths is enough.

Bring two sets of kit and a padlock. If you train this way twice a week, you have covered strength and low-impact cardio for S$7 a week.

Gyms for seniors in Singapore: free from 65, S$1.50 from 55, and where the right machines are

Singapore citizens aged 65 and above enter every ActiveSG gym and pool free. From 55 it is S$1.50 a visit. Four gyms list air-pressure machines built for small steps in load.

If you are a Singapore citizen aged 65 or above, the gym is free. ActiveSG's help site says citizens of that age enter its gyms and swimming pools at no charge, with no pass to buy: you scan your NRIC at the entrance.

From 55 to 64, and for permanent residents, the senior rate is S$1.50 a visit or S$9 a month off-peak. Four ActiveSG gyms list HUR air-pressure machines, which are built for people who need to start light. For anyone who wants a coach and a set programme, Gym Tonic runs a 12-week strength course for people aged 60 and above.

The options compared

ActiveSG prices are from its individual rates page, and apply to citizens and permanent residents. The free entry rule is from the ActiveSG help site, which was updated in the week before we checked. Gym Tonic prices are from the Lions Befrienders centre at Mei Ling Street. Both were checked on 5 October 2026.

ActiveSG: the low-cost route

Start with the free tier. ActiveSG states that Singapore citizens aged 65 and above enjoy free entry to its swimming pools and gyms, and that no pass purchase is needed. That is every ActiveSG gym in the country, at every opening hour.

If you are 55 to 64, or a permanent resident, you pay the senior rate. A senior citizen pays S$1.50 for one gym entry. The monthly MyActiveGYM pass lists a senior price for members aged 55 and above:

| Pass | 1 month | 6 months | 12 months | |---|---|---|---| | Peak, all opening hours | S$18 | S$95 | S$180 | | Off-peak, weekdays until 4pm | S$9 | S$40 | S$80 |

For someone under 65, the off-peak pass is the best value in Singapore fitness. S$80 buys a year of weekday gym access at every ActiveSG gym in the country, which works out to about S$6.70 a month. The quiet daytime hours it covers are also the hours when the machines are free.

Swimming is just as cheap for the 55 to 64 group. A senior swim costs S$0.50 on weekdays and S$0.60 at weekends at a normal pool, and the MyActiveSWIM pass is S$5 a month.

Why the machines matter

On a standard weight machine, you move a pin and the load jumps by several kilograms. For a strong 30-year-old that is fine. For a 70-year-old with a sore shoulder, the first step can already be too heavy, and the next one is a leap.

HUR machines use air pressure in place of a weight stack. The load starts close to zero and rises in small steps. Sport Singapore fitted them at Bukit Canberra so that people of varying abilities, seniors included, could train safely.

Four ActiveSG gym pages listed HUR machines when we checked:

Bukit Canberra ActiveSG Gym, Sembawang

ActiveSG Sport Park @ Teck Ghee Gym, Ang Mo Kio

Jurong East ActiveSG Gym

Jurong West ActiveSG Gym

Other gyms may have them too. These are the ones where the facility page says so. Our guide to the Bukit Canberra gym covers the largest of them.

ActiveSG's help site adds two useful points. Gym staff can show you how to use the equipment safely, so ask the instructor on duty. ActiveSG and Active Health also run programmes for older adults, including strength and balance classes and a programme called Combat Age-related Loss of Muscle. You find and book them under Programmes in MyActiveSG+.

ActiveSG also marks some gyms as inclusive. Bukit Canberra, Teck Ghee, Jurong East, Jurong West, Heartbeat @ Bedok and Our Tampines Hub all carry that label.

Gym Tonic: a coached programme

Gym Tonic is a strength training programme for seniors that runs at active ageing centres. The Lions Befrienders centre describes it as strength training used as a kind of medicine, with the aim of reducing frailty and the risk of falls. Sessions use hydraulic machines with loads set for each person.

At that centre the terms are:

age 60 and above

able to walk without help, and to follow training instructions

no health complications such as a stroke, and not in the middle of rehabilitation

a commitment to train twice a week

12 weeks, 24 sessions

| Rate | 12-week course | Per session | |---|---|---| | Standard | S$360 | S$15 | | Pioneer or Merdeka Generation | S$288 | S$12 | | Blue CHAS card | S$240 | S$10 |

Other operators run Gym Tonic at other centres, and their age limits and fees can differ. Ask the centre nearest you about its terms and about how long the wait for a place is.

The difference from ActiveSG is the supervision. At a public gym you get the room, and a short introduction if you ask for one. At Gym Tonic you get a programme and someone watching.

How to choose

Choose ActiveSG if you have trained before, or are happy to ask the duty instructor for an introduction. It is free from 65 for citizens and cheap before that, and you can go as often as you like.

Choose a coached programme if you have never used a gym, have had a fall, or feel unsteady. Twelve supervised weeks teach the movements, and you can move to an ActiveSG gym afterwards.

Choose a commercial gym only if you need hours or classes the public gyms do not offer. Our comparison of ActiveSG versus commercial gyms covers that decision.

Before you start

See your doctor first if you have a heart condition, high blood pressure, diabetes, osteoporosis, a joint replacement or a recent fall. Take a list of your medicines. This article is general information and is not medical advice.

Then start lighter than you think you should. Two sessions a week is enough. Add a little load when the last few repetitions feel easy, which is the principle our guide to progressive overload explains. Muscle also needs protein, and intake can fall short in later life. Our guide to how much protein you need a day covers the numbers.

Frequently asked questions

Is the ActiveSG gym free for seniors?

Yes, for Singapore citizens aged 65 and above. ActiveSG says they enter its gyms and pools free by scanning an NRIC. Seniors aged 55 to 64 pay S$1.50 a visit, or S$18 a month at peak and S$9 off-peak.

What age counts as a senior at ActiveSG?

Concession prices start at 55. Free entry starts at 65 for Singapore citizens.

Camping in Singapore: where it is legal, how the free permit works and the rules that catch people

You need an NParks permit to pitch a tent, even in the daytime. It is free, takes two weeks' notice and bans camping stoves. Here is the full process.

You can camp legally in Singapore, in designated areas of a few public parks, and only with a permit from the National Parks Board. The permit is free. You must apply at least two weeks before the date, and you may camp for no more than four days a month.

That two-week rule is the one that ruins plans. A tent on the beach this Saturday, decided on Thursday, is not a legal option.

Where you can camp

NParks allows camping only in designated areas of certain parks. Its camping page lists four.

| Park | Designated camping areas | |---|---| | East Coast Park | Area D and Area G | | Pasir Ris Park | Area 1 and Area 3 | | West Coast Park | Area 3 | | Pulau Ubin | Jelutong, Mamam and Endut Senin campsites |

At East Coast Park, camping is not allowed in the Cyclist Park inside Area D.

The NParks permit form shows the areas that are open for booking on your date. Treat the form as the final word, because areas can close for works or events.

Pulau Ubin is the only one of the four that is not a city park. NParks says to apply for the Ubin permit two weeks in advance as well. You reach the island by bumboat, so pack light, and read our guide to Pulau Ubin before you go. TheSmartLocal's September 2026 guide also lists camping on some southern islands under a separate agency. Check those rules with the agency before you carry a tent onto a ferry.

How the permit works

These rules are from the NParks camping page, checked on 5 October 2026.

| Rule | What NParks says | |---|---| | Cost | Free | | When to apply | At least 2 weeks before the camping date | | How to apply | Online with Singpass, or at an AXS station | | Who can apply | Aged 16 and above, with a valid residential address in Singapore | | Monthly limit | No more than 4 camping days a month | | One permit covers | 1 tent, for up to 6 people | | Permit hours | From 9am on the booked day to 9am the next day | | Tent size | No restriction on size or type |

You cannot apply if you already hold a permit, or if you have used up your four days for the month.

Two points follow from the table. A group of ten needs two tents and two permits. NParks does not issue a permit to someone who already holds one, so plan for a second applicant. The 9am to 9am window also means a one-night trip starts in the morning, so you can set up early and keep the site for a full day.

NParks states that you need a permit to set up a tent even if it is only during the day, no matter the duration. A shade tent for a beach picnic counts. TheSmartLocal's guide adds that a confirmed booking cannot be moved or cancelled, rain included. Check the forecast before you apply, not after.

The rules that catch people

No stoves. At East Coast Park, NParks says open fires are strictly not allowed, and it includes camping stoves and portable grills in that ban. The gas burner and the kettle stay at home.

Barbecue pits are booked separately. If you want to cook, book a pit. East Coast Park lists pits 25 to 40 in Area D and pits 59 to 80 in Area G, all by booking. TheSmartLocal puts pit fees at S$12 to S$20 a day, on top of the free camping permit.

Tents sit at least 5 metres apart. That is the NParks rule at East Coast Park. On a busy weekend it limits how many tents fit, so arrive early.

Toilets are available in both East Coast Park camping areas, and there are places to eat along the park.

What a night out is really like

Singapore camping is beach-park camping. You are a few hundred metres from a car park and a hawker stall, not in the wild. That is its strength for a first trip with children: if it goes badly, home is a short drive away.

The climate is the test. Night temperatures stay in the mid to high twenties, the air is humid, and there is little wind inside a tent. Bring a tent with mesh panels, a battery fan and far more water than you expect to drink. A sleeping bag is too warm. A thin sheet is enough.

Rain is the other factor. Tropical storms arrive fast and with lightning. Pitch away from the tallest trees, and know where the nearest shelter is before it gets dark.

Mosquitoes and sandflies are part of beach camping. Use repellent, keep the mesh zipped, and cover your ankles at dusk.

Make it an active weekend

A campsite at East Coast Park puts you on one of the best flat running and cycling paths in the country. Our guide to the best running routes in Singapore covers the distances, and bike rental in Singapore covers where to hire.

If you camp without a stove, food takes planning. Our list of East Coast Park eateries covers where to eat in the park. On the other coast, our guide to West Coast Park describes the park around its camping area.

Frequently asked questions

Is camping legal in Singapore?

Yes, in designated areas of East Coast Park, Pasir Ris Park, West Coast Park and Pulau Ubin, with a valid NParks camping permit.

How much is a camping permit in Singapore?

It is free.

How far ahead do I need to apply?

At least two weeks before the camping date, online with Singpass or at an AXS station.

How many days can I camp?

No more than four days a month.

Can I use a camping stove?

No. At East Coast Park, NParks bans open fires, including camping stoves and portable grills. Book a barbecue pit to cook.

How many people can share one tent permit?

Up to six. Each tent needs its own permit.

| Detail | What ActiveSG lists | |---|---| | Hours | 7am to 10pm, daily | | Weekly closure | None listed | | Location | Level 6, Heartbeat @ Bedok, 11 Bedok North Street 1, Singapore 469662 | | Phone | 6443 5511 | | Label | Inclusive gym |

The facility page showed no closure announcements when we checked on 5 October 2026. One-off closures are posted on the ActiveSG facility closure page, so look there before a public holiday.

ActiveSG gives the gym its inclusive gym label. It does not publish an equipment list or a floor size for this site, so we will not guess at either. Visit once at the hour you plan to train and see what is free.

That covers the pool on level 5 as well.

The off-peak pass covers Monday to Friday from opening until 4pm and excludes public holidays. The peak pass breaks even at 12 visits a month. Train less than three times a week and single entries are cheaper. Our guide to pay-per-use gyms in Singapore has the full table.

The pool on level 5

Heartbeat @ Bedok ActiveSG Swimming Complex opened on 1 August 2017. ActiveSG lists:

one competition pool with 8 lanes

one sheltered training pool with 8 lanes

one learner pool

one interactive pool with play features and a jacuzzi

a seating gallery, and a pool wheelchair

Two 8-lane pools on one site is unusual for a public complex. It gives lap swimmers a second option when one pool is busy, and the sheltered one stays usable in the midday sun.

| Pool detail | What ActiveSG lists | |---|---| | Standard hours | 8am to 9:30pm, every day except Thursday | | Early session | 6:30am to 8am on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, competition pool only | | Thursday | Closed all day for weekly maintenance | | Thursday public holidays | Open 8am to 9:30pm |

It is a feature pool, so the price is higher than at a plain complex.

| Swimmer | Weekday | Weekend and public holiday | |---|---|---| | Adult, citizen or PR | S$1.50 | S$2.00 | | Child or senior citizen, citizen or PR | S$0.80 | S$1.00 | | Adult, standard rate | S$2.00 | S$2.60 |

Buy a feature pass in the ActiveSG app. A normal swim pass does not cover this complex.

A gym and swim day for S$4.00

A weekday gym entry plus a swim is S$4.00. On a monthly basis, MyActiveGYM at S$30 plus MyActiveSWIM at S$10 gives unlimited use of both for S$40.

The order that works is lift first, swim second. Do your strength session upstairs, then take the lift down one floor for 20 minutes of easy lengths. Thursday is the day this plan fails, so make Thursday a gym-only day or a rest day.

When to go

A public gym in a town centre is busiest after work on weekdays. The facility page links to a gym capacity check and a pool capacity check. Both take seconds, and both are more reliable than anyone's memory of how busy last Tuesday was.

If your schedule allows, weekday mornings and early afternoons are the calm hours, and they are also the hours the S$15 off-peak pass covers.

Who should train here

It suits anyone in Bedok, Chai Chee or Tanah Merah who wants a gym without a contract. It suits swimmers well, because of the two 8-lane pools. It suits families, since the interactive pool keeps children busy while a parent trains.

It does not suit people who train before 7am or after 10pm. For those hours you need a 24-hour commercial gym, and our Singapore gym membership price index lists current prices. If you are deciding between the two, read ActiveSG versus commercial gyms.

The next big public gym to the east is at Our Tampines Hub. Our guide to the Tampines Hub gym opening hours covers it.

Sengkang Swimming Complex: slide height limits, feature pool prices and the Monday closure

Sengkang went back to feature pool pricing on 1 July 2025. An adult now pays S$1.50 to S$2.00, three slides need 1.3 m of child, and Monday is closed.

Sengkang Swimming Complex opens from 8am to 9:30pm every day except Monday, when it closes all day. It is a feature pool, so entry costs more than at a plain complex: S$1.50 on weekdays and S$2.00 at weekends for an adult Singapore citizen or permanent resident.

The price point is the one most people get wrong. ActiveSG's facility page carries a notice that Sengkang reverted to a feature pool from 1 July 2025, and that feature pool rates apply. Older guides that quote S$1.00 are out of date.

The address is 57 Anchorvale Road, Singapore 544964, at Sengkang Sport Centre beside Anchorvale Community Club.

Opening hours

| Detail | What ActiveSG lists | |---|---| | Standard hours | 8am to 9:30pm, every day except Monday | | Early session | 6:30am to 8am on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, competition pool only | | Monday | Closed all day for weekly maintenance | | Monday public holidays | Open 8am to 9:30pm | | Address | 57 Anchorvale Road, Singapore 544964 | | Phone | 6315 3574 or 6315 3575 |

The early session is for lap swimmers. Only the competition pool opens, on three mornings a week. The slides do not run at 6:30am, so do not bring excited children to it.

The slides and their height limits

ActiveSG lists five slides, each with a minimum height. Every visitor has to meet the limit to ride.

| Slide | Minimum height | |---|---| | Sugar Rush | 1.3 m | | Rainbow Dash | 1.3 m | | Cotton Candy Bowl | 1.3 m | | Jelly Lime Loops | 1.2 m | | Jellybean Swizzle | 1.2 m |

This table saves arguments. A child of 1.25 m can ride two slides and must watch the other three. A child under 1.2 m cannot ride any of them, and for that child the trip is a pool visit at a higher price. Measure at home, in bare feet, and set expectations in the car.

Height limits at public pools are safety rules, so expect the staff to enforce them. A parent's promise does not move the measuring board.

What it costs

These are the special features complex rates on the ActiveSG individual rates page, checked on 5 October 2026.

| Swimmer | Weekday | Weekend and public holiday | |---|---|---| | Adult, citizen or PR | S$1.50 | S$2.00 | | Child or senior citizen, citizen or PR | S$0.80 | S$1.00 | | Adult, standard rate | S$2.00 | S$2.60 |

A family of two adults and two children pays S$6.00 on a Saturday. Grandparents may cost nothing: singapore citizens aged 65 and above enter ActiveSG gyms and swimming pools free. ActiveSG's help site says no pass is needed: scan your NRIC at the entrance. A commercial water park charges many times that for one ticket, which is the whole case for feature pools.

In the ActiveSG app, buy a feature pass, not a normal pass. A normal pass covers only complexes without special water features. ActiveSG names six feature complexes: Choa Chu Kang, Heartbeat @ Bedok, Jurong East, Jurong West, Pasir Ris and Sengkang.

If you swim often, the MyActiveSWIM monthly pass is S$10 for an adult and S$5 for a child or senior citizen. An adult who swims here at weekends breaks even at five visits a month.

What else is there

The facility page lists a sheltered pool, which matters at midday and in light rain. It also gives the complex an inclusive pool label and lists a pool wheelchair.

The same sport centre has an ActiveSG gym, open from 7am to 10pm daily. A parent who is not on slide duty can train for S$2.50 while the other one supervises. Our guide to pay-per-use gyms in Singapore explains how single entries compare with a pass.

How to plan the visit

Check the day. Monday is closed, unless it is a public holiday.

Measure the children against the slide table above.

Buy feature passes in the ActiveSG app before you leave.

Use the pool capacity check on the facility page. School holidays and weekend afternoons are the peak.

Check the weather. ActiveSG may close outdoor facilities in bad weather as a safety precaution.

Who this pool suits

It suits families with children tall enough for the slides, and it is one of the cheapest good afternoons in the north-east. It also suits lap swimmers who can make the Tuesday, Thursday or Saturday early session.

It suits adults who only want quiet lengths less well. Outside the early session you share the complex with the slide crowd, and you pay the feature rate for features you will not use. A normal complex costs a third less. Our guide to Jalan Besar Swimming Complex covers one option, and the rebuilt Ang Mo Kio complex is another.

Frequently asked questions

Is Sengkang Swimming Complex open on Monday?

No. It closes all day every Monday for maintenance, unless the Monday is a public holiday.

How much is entry to Sengkang Swimming Complex?

For citizens and permanent residents, adults pay S$1.50 on weekdays and S$2.00 at weekends. Children and senior citizens pay S$0.80 and S$1.00. Feature pool rates have applied since 1 July 2025.

What is the height limit for the slides?

1.3 m for Sugar Rush, Rainbow Dash and Cotton Candy Bowl. 1.2 m for Jelly Lime Loops and Jellybean Swizzle.

Which swim pass do I need?

A feature pass. A normal pass does not cover Sengkang.

Can I swim laps early in the morning?

Yes, on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 6:30am to 8am, in the competition pool only.

Pickleball in Singapore: where to play, what a court costs and how to book

A public court costs S$3.50 to S$9.50 an hour, split between up to four players. The hard part is the ballot. Here is how ActiveSG booking works.

A public pickleball court in Singapore costs S$3.50 to S$9.50 an hour for citizens and permanent residents, and you book it through ActiveSG. Split four ways at the top rate, that is under S$2.40 a player. The price is not the problem. Getting a peak-hour slot is.

Sport Singapore says more than 80 courts are now allocated for pickleball across ActiveSG sport centres and school facilities under the dual-use scheme. It also says ActiveSG pickleball bookings grew tenfold between 2023 and 2025. Demand is running ahead of courts, and the booking rules reflect that.

What a court costs

These are the hourly court rates on the ActiveSG individual rates page, checked on 5 October 2026. The price is per court, not per player.

Doubles is the normal game, so divide by four. An indoor non-peak hour is about S$0.88 each. An outdoor peak hour is about S$2.38 each. Few sports in Singapore cost less per hour.

Each user can book two slots a day for pickleball. That is the ActiveSG booking quota for court sports, and it applies regardless of the slot times.

Sport Singapore defines peak hours as 6pm to 10pm from Monday to Friday, and 7am to 10pm on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. Every other slot is non-peak. A weekday game before 6pm costs about half as much as the same court at 7pm.

How booking works

Bookings run through MyActiveSG+. For the dedicated courts at Farrer Park, Sport Singapore set out two tracks, and the same logic is the one to plan around.

Peak-hour slots are balloted. The ballot opens 14 days before the date you want and stays open for 24 hours. Results come out by 12pm the next day, and you have until 11:59pm that day to pay.

Non-peak slots are first come, first served. They open at 12pm, 12 days before the date. Peak slots that the ballot left unassigned are released at the same moment.

Two practical results follow. If you want Saturday morning, set a reminder for two weeks before and enter the ballot. If you lose it, be in the app at 12pm on the 12-day mark for leftovers. If your hours are flexible, skip the ballot and take a weekday non-peak slot at about half the price.

Where to play

ActiveSG Courts @ Farrer Park

This is the first place to look in the city. It opened on 14 March 2026 with eight dedicated, sheltered pickleball courts, built into the former waiting area of the Little India Bus Terminal. It opens Monday to Saturday from 9am to 9pm. On Sunday the site runs as a bus terminal and the courts are closed.

Eight courts in one place under a roof make it the best public option for a group, and for a rainy month.

Sport halls and school halls

Most of the other courts are shared ones: badminton courts that convert for pickleball. ActiveSG's guide to Bukit Canberra, for example, says its indoor sports hall has 11 badminton courts, two of which convert for pickleball.

The MyActiveSG+ booking system shows which venues take pickleball bookings, so start there and not with an old list.

More courts are planned

Sport Singapore has said it plans another 50 multipurpose courts for badminton or pickleball across the island over five years. It also plans an ActiveSG Sport Village at Farrer Park. Supply should improve, slowly.

What you need to start

Pickleball is played with solid paddles and a hollow plastic ball with holes, over a low net. ActiveSG describes it as a mix of tennis, badminton and table tennis. The court is small and the ball is slow, so beginners rally on the first day. That is most of its appeal.

You need a paddle each, a few balls and court shoes with grip. Do not count on the venue to supply equipment. Bring your own. If you are new to the rules, our beginner piece on how to play pickleball covers the basics.

Is it real exercise?

Yes, at a moderate level. Doubles involves short sprints, quick changes of direction and long periods on your feet. It is easier on the body than singles tennis, which is why it suits a wide range of ages.

Two cautions. The stop-start movement loads the calves, the Achilles tendon and the knees, and new players in their forties and fifties often find that out a few weeks in. Warm up, and build up the hours gradually.

It also does not replace strength training. A weekly game plus two short strength sessions is a sound plan, and an ActiveSG gym entry costs S$2.50. Our guide to pay-per-use gyms in Singapore covers the options, and how to get fit in Singapore on almost no budget builds a full week around public facilities.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to play pickleball in Singapore?

On ActiveSG courts, S$3.50 to S$7.40 an hour indoors and S$4.50 to S$9.50 an hour outdoors for citizens and permanent residents. The price is per court.

How do I book a pickleball court?

Through MyActiveSG+. Peak-hour slots are balloted 14 days ahead. Non-peak slots open first come, first served 12 days ahead.

Where are the dedicated pickleball courts?

ActiveSG Courts @ Farrer Park, at the Little India Bus Terminal, has eight sheltered courts. It opens Monday to Saturday, 9am to 9pm.

How many courts can I book?

Two slots a day per user.

Can foreigners book ActiveSG pickleball courts?

The rates page lists a standard rate for users who are not citizens or permanent residents: S$4.60 to S$9.70 indoors and S$5.90 to S$12.50 outdoors.

Choa Chu Kang Swimming Complex: wave pool, prices, hours and the Monday closure

CCK has a wave pool, a slide and a spa pool for S$1.50 on a weekday. It shuts every Monday, and single pools close for repairs more often than you would guess.

Choa Chu Kang Swimming Complex opens from 8am to 9:30pm every day except Monday, when it closes all day. It is a feature pool with a wave pool and a slide, and entry costs S$1.50 on weekdays and S$2.00 at weekends for an adult Singapore citizen or permanent resident.

The address is 1 Choa Chu Kang Street 53, Singapore 689236, inside Choa Chu Kang Sport Centre.

Opening hours

| Detail | What ActiveSG lists | |---|---| | Standard hours | 8am to 9:30pm, every day except Monday | | Early session | 6:30am to 8am on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, competition pool only | | Monday | Closed all day for weekly maintenance | | Monday public holidays | Open 8am to 9:30pm | | Address | 1 Choa Chu Kang Street 53, Singapore 689236 | | Phone | 6767 1735 or 6767 4576 |

Lap swimmers get the competition pool to themselves on three early mornings a week. The wave pool and the slide are not part of that session.

What is there

ActiveSG lists five things:

one competition pool

one wave pool

one wading pool

one slide

one spa pool

That mix is the reason to choose CCK over a plain neighbourhood pool. Older children get waves and a slide, small children get the wading pool, and the adult who drew the short straw gets a spa pool.

ActiveSG does not publish a height limit for the CCK slide on its facility page, so ask the lifeguards before you promise a ride to a small child. At Sengkang, for comparison, the listed limits are 1.2 m and 1.3 m.

Partial closures: the detail to check

A swimming complex can be open while one of its pools is shut. When we checked on 5 October 2026, the facility page showed a temporary closure of the toddler pool from 23 August to 10 October 2026, with the rest of the complex running normally.

A seven-week closure of one pool is easy to miss. The gate is open, the app sells you a pass, and you only find out when you arrive with a two-year-old. The closure announcements sit near the top of the facility page. Read them every time you bring a child who needs a specific pool.

Weather is the other cause. ActiveSG may close outdoor facilities in bad weather as a safety precaution.

What it costs

CCK charges the special features complex rate. These prices are from the ActiveSG individual rates page, checked on 5 October 2026.

| Swimmer | Weekday | Weekend and public holiday | |---|---|---| | Adult, citizen or PR | S$1.50 | S$2.00 | | Child or senior citizen, citizen or PR | S$0.80 | S$1.00 | | Adult, standard rate | S$2.00 | S$2.60 |

Two adults and two children pay S$4.60 on a weekday and S$6.00 on a Saturday.

Singapore citizens aged 65 and above enter ActiveSG gyms and swimming pools free. ActiveSG's help site says no pass is needed: scan your NRIC at the entrance.

Buy a feature pass in the ActiveSG app. A normal pass will not open the gate here. ActiveSG lists six feature complexes: Choa Chu Kang, Heartbeat @ Bedok, Jurong East, Jurong West, Pasir Ris and Sengkang.

For regulars, MyActiveSWIM costs S$10 a month for an adult and S$5 a month for a child or senior citizen, with unlimited entry to every ActiveSG swimming complex.

Getting there and getting in

ActiveSG describes the sport centre as sitting between two MRT stations. The sport centre also holds a stadium and other facilities, so allow time to find the pool entrance on a first visit.

Entry is by the ActiveSG app. Buy the pass before you leave home, and use the pool capacity check on the facility page. A cheap wave pool during the school holidays is not a quiet place.

Who this pool suits

It suits families in the west who want water play without a water park bill. It suits lap swimmers who can use the early session on Tuesday, Thursday or Saturday.

It suits adults who want calm lengths at 5pm on a Saturday less well. You pay the feature rate and share the water with the wave pool crowd. A normal complex is cheaper and calmer, and our guide to Jalan Besar Swimming Complex shows what a plain lap pool offers at S$1.00.

If swimming is your low-cost cardio, pair it with strength work. An ActiveSG gym entry is S$2.50, and our guide to pay-per-use gyms in Singapore covers the sums. For the bigger picture, read how to get fit in Singapore on almost no budget.

Bukit Canberra Swimming Complex: opening hours, prices and the Wednesday closure

Four pools, normal-pool prices from S$1, and a full-day closure every Wednesday. Here is what ActiveSG lists for the newest public pool in the north.

Bukit Canberra Swimming Complex opens from 8am to 9:30pm every day except Wednesday, when it closes all day for maintenance. Entry is at the normal pool rate: S$1.00 on weekdays and S$1.30 at weekends for an adult Singapore citizen or permanent resident.

The complex is part of the Bukit Canberra hub at 21 Canberra Link, Singapore 756973, about 7 minutes on foot from Sembawang MRT. It opened on 15 October 2023, which makes it one of the newest public pools in Singapore.

Opening hours

| Detail | What ActiveSG lists | |---|---| | Hours | 8am to 9:30pm, every day except Wednesday | | Wednesday | Closed all day for weekly maintenance | | Wednesday public holidays | Open 8am to 9:30pm | | Address | 21 Canberra Link, Singapore 756973 | | Nearest lift | Lobby E | | Phone | 6374 5342 | | Managed by | Bukit Canberra Sport Centre |

The closure day differs from pool to pool across Singapore. Jalan Besar shuts on Tuesday, Sengkang and Choa Chu Kang on Monday, and Bukit Canberra on Wednesday. If you swim at more than one complex, do not assume they share a rest day.

One more difference matters to lap swimmers. Some ActiveSG complexes open their competition pool at 6:30am on three mornings a week. The Bukit Canberra page lists no such session, so the first swim of the day here is 8am.

ActiveSG also warns that outdoor facilities may close in bad weather. Part of this complex is outdoors, so check before you travel on a stormy day.

What is there

ActiveSG's own guide to Bukit Canberra describes four pools:

a competition pool

a training pool

a fun pool

a wading pool

The same guide says the complex has both covered and outdoor water. That is useful in Singapore for two reasons: shade at midday, and somewhere to swim when the sky is grey but not yet throwing lightning.

Despite the fun pool, ActiveSG classes the complex as a normal pool, not a feature pool. That decides the price. You pay the lower normal rate here, and you buy a normal swim pass in the app.

The facility page also gives the complex an inclusive pool label. It lists a pool wheelchair, available on request from the guest officer, and accessible toilets inside and outside the pool area.

What it costs

These are the normal complex rates on the ActiveSG individual rates page, checked on 5 October 2026.

| Swimmer | Weekday | Weekend and public holiday | |---|---|---| | Adult, citizen or PR | S$1.00 | S$1.30 | | Child or senior citizen, citizen or PR | S$0.50 | S$0.60 | | Adult, standard rate | S$1.30 | S$1.70 |

Regular swimmers can buy a MyActiveSWIM monthly pass instead. It costs S$10 a month for adults and S$5 a month for children and senior citizens, and covers every ActiveSG swimming complex. At weekday prices an adult breaks even at 10 swims a month.

Singapore citizens aged 65 and above enter ActiveSG gyms and swimming pools free. ActiveSG's help site says no pass is needed: scan your NRIC at the entrance. That applies at every ActiveSG pool, this one included.

More than a pool

Bukit Canberra is a hub, and the pool is one part of it. The same address holds an ActiveSG gym that opens from 7am to 10pm daily, an indoor sports hall, a hawker centre with 44 stalls and Sembawang Polyclinic. The facility page also notes a butterfly garden.

That changes how the trip works. One parent can swim while the other lifts. Children can swim and then eat downstairs. A S$1.00 swim plus a S$2.50 gym entry is a full training day for S$3.50, and our comparison of ActiveSG versus commercial gyms explains when that public option is the better buy.

ActiveSG's guide also says Bukit Canberra is the only pool in the north that hosts its Academies and Clubs water polo and flippa ball programmes. Flippa ball is a simpler form of water polo for children. If your child wants a team sport in the water, this is the northern venue for it.

How to avoid a wasted trip

Check the day. Wednesday is closed.

Buy a normal swim pass in the ActiveSG app before you leave home.

Use the pool capacity check linked from the facility page. Weekend afternoons at a new family pool are as busy as you would expect.

Look at the closure page before school holidays and public holidays. One-off closures are posted there.

Who this pool suits

It suits families in Sembawang, Canberra and Yishun who want several pools and a meal in one stop. It suits adults who want a gym and a pool on one site.

It suits early lap swimmers less well, because of the 8am start. Swimmers who need a 6:30am session should look at a complex that lists one, such as Jalan Besar Swimming Complex on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

For a mixed pool and gym site further south, see our guide to the rebuilt Ang Mo Kio complex, now ActiveSG Sport Park @ Teck Ghee.

Frequently asked questions

The 1,500 square metre gym in Sembawang opens 7am to 10pm daily and costs S$2.50 a visit. Its air-pressure machines are the part worth knowing about.

The Bukit Canberra gym is the largest ActiveSG gym in Singapore, at 1,500 square metres. It opens from 7am to 10pm every day, and one entry costs S$2.50 for an adult Singapore citizen or permanent resident.

Its official name is Bukit Canberra ActiveSG Gym. It sits inside the Bukit Canberra hub at 21 Canberra Link, Singapore 756973, about 7 minutes on foot from Sembawang MRT. It opened on 29 October 2023.

Opening hours and how to find it

| Detail | What ActiveSG lists | |---|---| | Hours | 7am to 10pm, daily | | Weekly closure | None listed | | Address | 21 Canberra Link, Singapore 756973 | | Nearest lift | Lobby E | | Phone | 6374 5342 | | Managed by | Bukit Canberra Sport Centre |

The facility page showed no closure announcements when we checked on 5 October 2026. The gym has no weekly rest day, unlike the swimming complex next to it, which closes every Wednesday.

What makes this gym different

Two things: space and the machines.

At 1,500 square metres it is half as large again as the 1,000 square metre gym at ActiveSG Sport Park @ Teck Ghee, which is itself a big public gym. More floor means more stations, and more stations mean shorter waits.

The second point is the equipment. Sport Singapore fitted this gym with HUR machines, which use air pressure for resistance in place of stacked weight plates. On a normal machine you move the pin and the load jumps by several kilograms. On an air-pressure machine the load changes in small steps, and it starts from close to zero.

That matters to three groups:

older adults, who can start light and add load slowly

people coming back from an injury, who need small jumps

complete beginners, who find a pin-loaded stack intimidating

Sport Singapore describes the gym as designed for users of varying physical abilities, and the ActiveSG page gives it the inclusive gym label. Accessible toilets are inside and outside the gym.

If you are an experienced lifter, do not read that as a gym for seniors only. The HUR machines are one feature of a 1,500 square metre floor. ActiveSG does not publish an equipment list, so we cannot tell you how many racks or barbells are on the floor. Visit once at your usual training hour before you buy a long pass.

Two studios opened with the gym. Reports at the time listed classes such as Zumba, hatha yoga and Piloxing. Class schedules change, so check the ActiveSG app for what runs now.

What entry costs

These are the rates on the ActiveSG individual rates page, checked on 5 October 2026. They are the same at every ActiveSG gym.

| Option | Adult, citizen or PR | Student or senior citizen | |---|---|---| | Single entry | S$2.50 | S$1.50 | | MyActiveGYM peak, 1 month | S$30 | S$18 | | MyActiveGYM peak, 12 months | S$300 | S$180 | | MyActiveGYM off-peak, 1 month | S$15 | S$9 |

The adult standard rate, for visitors who are not citizens or permanent residents, is S$3.30.

The off-peak pass covers Monday to Friday from opening until 4pm, and excludes public holidays. Here that means 7am to 4pm on weekdays. It suits retirees, shift workers and students. It does nothing for someone who trains after work.

The peak pass breaks even at 12 visits a month. Below that, pay S$2.50 each time. Our guide to pay-per-use gyms in Singapore runs the full sums.

Singapore citizens aged 65 and above enter ActiveSG gyms and swimming pools free. ActiveSG's help site says no pass is needed: scan your NRIC at the entrance. Seniors aged 55 to 64 pay the senior rates in the table.

When to go

Even a large public gym fills up after work. The facility page links to a gym capacity check, and it takes ten seconds to use. Mid-morning and mid-afternoon on weekdays are usually the quiet hours at public gyms, which is also when the off-peak pass applies.

What else is on site

The hub also holds a swimming complex with four pools, an indoor sports hall, a hawker centre with 44 stalls and Sembawang Polyclinic. A gym session, a swim and dinner can happen without leaving the building, and the pool is S$1.00 on a weekday.

Who should train here

It suits anyone in Sembawang, Canberra or Yishun who wants a gym without a contract. It suits older adults and beginners better than almost any other public gym, because of the air-pressure machines. If you are starting from zero, our guide to gyms for beginners in Singapore covers what to do on a first visit.

It does not suit people who train before 7am or after 10pm. A 24-hour commercial gym costs more and solves that problem, and our Singapore gym membership price index lists what those gyms charge. For the wider decision, read ActiveSG versus commercial gyms.

If you live in the east, the equivalent big public gym is at Our Tampines Hub. Our guide to the Tampines Hub gym opening hours covers it.

The ActiveSG gym on level 7 of Our Tampines Hub opens every day with no weekly closure. Entry is S$2.50 for adult citizens and PRs. The off-peak pass has a 4pm catch.

The gym at Our Tampines Hub opens from 7am to 10pm every day. It has no weekly closure day, which sets it apart from ActiveSG swimming pools, and entry costs S$2.50 for an adult Singapore citizen or permanent resident.

Its official name is Tampines ActiveSG Gym. You will find it on level 7 of Our Tampines Hub, 1 Tampines Walk, Singapore 528523. Older signs and older blog posts call it Tampines ClubFITT Gym, which is the same place under its former name.

Opening hours and how to find it

| Detail | What ActiveSG lists | |---|---| | Hours | 7am to 10pm, daily | | Weekly closure | None listed | | Location | Level 7, Our Tampines Hub, 1 Tampines Walk, Singapore 528523 | | Nearest lift | Lift Lobby A | | Phone | 6385 3718 | | Managed by | Tampines Sport Centre |

When we checked the facility page on 5 October 2026 it showed no closure announcements. That can change around public holidays and maintenance works, and ActiveSG posts one-off closures on its facility closure page. A ten-second look before a holiday visit beats a lift ride to a locked door.

Take Lift Lobby A. Our Tampines Hub is a large building with several lift cores, and the gym page names Lobby A as the nearest one. An accessible toilet sits on level 7 just outside the gym, behind the same lobby.

What kind of gym it is

Sport Singapore describes it as one of the biggest ActiveSG gyms, and it carries the inclusive gym label. The facility page backs the label with practical detail: lift access from Lift Lobby A and an accessible toilet on the same floor.

ActiveSG does not publish an equipment list for the site, so we will not invent one. Expect the standard public gym mix of cardio machines, strength machines and free weights, and expect to share it. A big, cheap gym on top of a town hub is not a secret, and weekday evenings are the busiest hours at any ActiveSG floor.

The facility page links to a gym capacity check. Use it before you leave home. If the floor is full at 7pm, 8:30pm is often a different gym.

What entry costs

These are the rates on the ActiveSG individual rates page, checked on 5 October 2026.

| Option | Adult, citizen or PR | Student or senior citizen | |---|---|---| | Single entry | S$2.50 | S$1.50 | | MyActiveGYM peak, 1 month | S$30 | S$18 | | MyActiveGYM peak, 6 months | S$160 | S$95 | | MyActiveGYM peak, 12 months | S$300 | S$180 | | MyActiveGYM off-peak, 1 month | S$15 | S$9 |

The adult standard rate, for visitors who are not citizens or permanent residents, is S$3.30 a visit.

Singapore citizens aged 65 and above enter ActiveSG gyms and swimming pools free. ActiveSG's help site says no pass is needed: scan your NRIC at the entrance.

MyActiveGYM is open to ActiveSG members aged 12 and above. A peak pass covers every ActiveSG gym islandwide at all opening hours, so it works at Tampines and at any other centre you pass on the way home.

The 4pm catch on the off-peak pass

The off-peak pass is half the price for a reason. It covers Monday to Friday, from opening until 4pm, and excludes public holidays. At this gym that means 7am to 4pm on weekdays.

That suits shift workers, students with free afternoons, retirees and anyone who trains before the office. It is useless for the after-work crowd. If your only free slot is 7pm, the S$15 pass buys you nothing, and you need single entries or the peak pass.

Single entry or monthly pass

The sum is short. At S$2.50 a visit, the S$30 peak pass breaks even at 12 visits a month, which is three sessions a week.

| Visits a month | Single entries | Peak pass, cost per visit | |---|---|---| | 4 | S$10 | S$7.50 | | 8 | S$20 | S$3.75 | | 12 | S$30 | S$2.50 | | 16 | S$40 | S$1.88 |

Below 12 visits, pay per entry. Above 12, the pass wins, and the 12-month pass at S$300 brings the cost down to S$25 a month. Be honest about which group you are in. Most people who buy a pass in January are single-entry users by March.

For a wider comparison, our Singapore gym membership price index lists dated prices for the commercial chains, and ActiveSG versus commercial gyms explains when paying more is the better decision.

Who should train here

It suits Tampines residents who want a full gym without a contract, and beginners who want to test the habit for the price of a drink. If you are new to training, our guide to gyms for beginners in Singapore covers what to look for on a first visit.

It suits two groups less well. The first is anyone who trains after 10pm or before 7am, because the doors are shut. The second is lifters who need a specific rack or bar at 7pm on a Monday and cannot wait for it. Both groups should look at a 24-hour commercial gym and accept the higher bill.

Frequently asked questions

What time does the Tampines Hub gym open and close?

7am to 10pm, every day, according to the ActiveSG facility page.

Is the Tampines Hub gym closed on any day of the week?

ActiveSG lists no weekly closure day for the gym. One-off closures appear on the ActiveSG facility closure page.

How much is one entry?

S$2.50 for an adult citizen or permanent resident, S$1.50 for students and senior citizens, and S$3.30 at the adult standard rate.

Where is the gym inside Our Tampines Hub?

Level 7. Use Lift Lobby A.

Can I use the off-peak pass in the evening?

No. The off-peak pass covers Monday to Friday from opening until 4pm, and excludes public holidays.

Pay-per-use gyms in Singapore: what one session really costs

ActiveSG charges S$2.50 for a visit. A private pod charges S$6 to S$12 for 30 minutes. We ran the sums on when each one beats a membership.

The cheapest pay-per-use gym in Singapore is ActiveSG, at S$2.50 a visit for an adult citizen or permanent resident. The other option with published prices is The Gym Pod, which charges S$6 to S$12 for a 30-minute private session. Those two numbers are not as close as they look, because one buys a whole visit and the other buys half an hour.

Pay-per-use means no contract, no joining fee and no monthly bill. You pay when you train and you pay nothing when you do not. For anyone who trains less than three times a week, that is usually the cheapest way to lift in Singapore.

The two options with prices you can check

Prices come from the ActiveSG individual rates page and The Gym Pod pricing page, both checked on 5 October 2026.

ActiveSG: the price floor

Sport Singapore runs ActiveSG gyms at public sport centres across the island. Entry is S$2.50 for adult citizens and permanent residents, S$1.50 for students and senior citizens, and S$3.30 at the standard rate for everyone else. You buy a gym pass in the ActiveSG app and scan in.

For one group it is cheaper still. Singapore citizens aged 65 and above enter ActiveSG gyms and swimming pools free. ActiveSG's help site says no pass is needed: scan your NRIC at the entrance.

For everyone else, nothing in Singapore undercuts S$2.50. The trade is the floor itself: public gyms carry general equipment and get busy after work. The app has a gym capacity check, and using it is the difference between a good session and a queue for the only squat rack.

If you turn into a regular, ActiveSG also sells a monthly MyActiveGYM pass at S$30 peak or S$15 off-peak. The off-peak pass only covers weekdays until 4pm.

The Gym Pod: you pay for privacy and the clock

The Gym Pod rents small private gyms by the half hour. You pick a pod in its app, choose a time slot and pay for that session only. The pod is yours for the booking. Pods open 24 hours a day.

A booking is 30 minutes. A normal strength session needs two bookings, so double every price you see:

off-peak, 11pm to 6am: S$6 a session, S$12 an hour

standard, 6am to 5pm: S$9 a session, S$18 an hour

premium, 5pm to 11pm: S$12 a session, S$24 an hour

A guest costs S$1.50 per person per session, which makes a pod much better value for two. Two people sharing a premium hour pay S$27 between them, or S$13.50 each. New users get 50% off a first booking. Moving a booking is free, unless you do it within 24 hours of the slot, when it costs S$2.

The company also sells bundles: a Starter Pack at S$69 a month for 10 sessions and a Power Pack at S$179 a month for 30 sessions. That works out to S$6.90 and about S$5.97 a session. At that point you have a membership again, with a session cap.

The sums: when pay-per-use stops being cheap

This table assumes one-hour workouts. The pod column uses the standard daytime rate of S$18 an hour for one person.

| Workouts a month | ActiveSG single entry | Gym Pod, standard rate | Commercial membership at S$98 | |---|---|---|---| | 4 | S$10 | S$72 | S$98 | | 8 | S$20 | S$144 | S$98 | | 12 | S$30 | S$216 | S$98 | | 16 | S$40 | S$288 | S$98 |

Three things fall out of it.

ActiveSG single entry stays the cheapest line at every row. At 12 visits it equals the S$30 peak monthly pass, so from there you should buy the pass.

A pod beats a S$98 membership only up to about five hours a month. Train solo for an hour twice a week and the pod costs more than a commercial gym.

The S$98 figure is the budget end of the commercial market, and it usually comes with a contract. Our Singapore gym membership price index lists the dated operator prices, and cheap gym memberships in Singapore covers the budget shortlist.

Which one to pick

Pick ActiveSG single entry if you are testing whether you will go at all, or if you train once or twice a week near a sport centre. It is also the right answer for most beginners.

Pick a pod if you want an empty room. That covers people who are self-conscious on a busy floor, people filming their lifts, new parents with a 40-minute window, and shift workers whose gym hour is 2am.

Pick a membership once you train three or more times a week at hours a public gym cannot give you. Our guide to whether a gym membership is worth it in Singapore walks through that decision.

A note on old price lists

Many pay-per-entry roundups still rank high in search and still quote prices from 2018. One example: several list Gymmboxx at S$8 for three hours. When we checked on 5 October 2026, the Gymmboxx web address redirected to the 24/7 Fitness site, so we have left that brand out of the table.

The lesson applies to every gym price you read, ours included. Check the operator's own page, and check the date.

Frequently asked questions

What is the cheapest pay-per-use gym in Singapore?

ActiveSG, at S$2.50 a visit for adult citizens and permanent residents and S$1.50 for students and senior citizens.

How much does The Gym Pod cost?

S$6, S$9 or S$12 for a 30-minute session, depending on the time of day. An hour costs twice that. A guest adds S$1.50 per session.

Can foreigners use ActiveSG gyms?

The ActiveSG rates page lists a standard adult rate of S$3.30 for visitors who are not citizens or permanent residents.

Is pay-per-use cheaper than a gym membership?

At ActiveSG prices, yes, up to about 12 visits a month. At private pod prices, only if you train about five hours a month or less.

Are there 24-hour pay-per-use gyms?

The Gym Pod opens 24 hours a day. ActiveSG gyms keep fixed daytime and evening hours.

Yunomori Onsen at Kallang: prices, opening hours and what a day pass covers

An adult day pass is S$49.05 with no time limit, and the doors close at 10pm. Here is what the price list, the FAQ and the fine print say before you book.

The onsen at Kallang is Yunomori Onsen & Spa, on level 2 of Kallang Wave Mall. An adult day pass costs S$49.05, GST included, and there is no time limit once you are in. It opens daily from 10am to 10pm.

That makes it the simple case in Singapore's bathhouse market. One price, one entry, stay as long as you like until closing. The massage menu is where the bill grows.

Prices and opening hours

| Detail | What Yunomori lists | |---|---| | Adult day pass | S$49.05 | | Child day pass, 3 to 15 years | S$38.15 | | Senior day pass, 65 and above | S$38.15 | | Hours | 10am to 10pm, daily | | Address | Kallang Wave Mall, #02-17/18, 1 Stadium Place, Singapore 397628 | | Phone | 6386 4126 or 6385 7985 |

All prices include 9% GST, and come from Yunomori's own price list, checked on 5 October 2026. The odd-looking figures are round numbers plus tax: S$45 becomes S$49.05, and S$35 becomes S$38.15. The price list shows no weekend surcharge.

The nearest station is Stadium on the Circle Line. Kallang Wave Mall is part of the Singapore Sports Hub, so check the events calendar. A concert night at the National Stadium changes the crowd, the traffic and the parking.

What the day pass covers

Yunomori's FAQ is short and clear on this. The day pass gives you the onsen facilities and the resting lounge, and there is no time restriction on how you use them.

The venue page for the Singapore Sports Hub describes 11 pools across six bath types, with separate pool areas for men and women, plus a sauna, a steam bath, a cafe and a lounge. It names three of the bath types:

a soda bath, with water enriched with carbon dioxide

a silk bath, which uses micro-bubbles

a cold bath, set at 17 to 19°C

That description dates from 2018, so treat the pool count as a guide and not a promise. The health claims attached to each bath are the operator's marketing. We have left them out, because warm water does not need help from a brochure.

One point for anyone training for something: the cold bath here is cool, not icy. At 17 to 19°C it is milder than the 8 to 15°C plunge that G.Spa lists, for example. If cold exposure is the reason for your visit, our roundup of the best recovery clubs in Singapore covers venues built for it.

The massage menu

Yunomori pairs the Japanese baths with Thai massage. These are the listed prices, GST included.

| Treatment | Length | Price | |---|---|---| | Head and shoulder massage | 30 minutes | S$52.32 | | Foot massage | 60 minutes | S$90.47 | | Thai massage | 60 minutes | S$112.27 | | Thai massage | 90 minutes | S$159.14 | | Onsen plus Thai massage package | 90 minutes | S$202.74 | | Onsen plus aroma oil massage package | 90 minutes | S$213.64 |

Check the package sums before you click. A day pass at S$49.05 plus a 90-minute Thai massage at S$159.14 comes to S$208.19, so the package saves S$5.45. It is a small discount, not a reason to book a massage you did not want.

Yunomori recommends reservations for massages. Walk-in day passes are one thing, but a therapist at 7pm on a Saturday is another.

The rule most people miss

Your choice of massage decides whether you can go back into the baths.

According to the FAQ, guests who have a Thai massage or a head and shoulder massage may return to the onsen afterwards. Guests who have an aromatherapy massage, a foot massage or a hot compress may not.

So plan the order. If you book an oil massage, do all your soaking first and make the massage the last thing you do. If you want to drift between the baths and the lounge all afternoon, pick the Thai massage.

Rules for children

The minimum age is 3. Children must stay with a parent of the same gender and must be supervised at all times. In practice a father cannot take a young daughter into the men's side, and a mother cannot take a son into the women's side, so one-parent visits with a child of the other gender do not work.

Etiquette, and what we could not verify

Two things are missing from Yunomori's published FAQ and price list.

The first is a tattoo policy. Many onsen in Japan restrict tattoos. Yunomori's Singapore FAQ does not address the question. The branch's own Facebook page does: in a post titled "Onsen 101", it says it encourages all guests to enjoy the onsen in a respectful, inclusive environment, "with or without tattoos". That post is several years old, so phone 6386 4126 if you want it confirmed before you pay.

The second is what the Singapore branch provides for modesty. The Yunomori group's etiquette guide is clear on the main rule: swimsuits are not permitted in the baths. It says some of its Thai branches hand out disposable underwear or bath shorts, and it does not say what Kallang does. If that matters to you, ask the front desk before you pay.

The same guide sets three more rules. Wash your body well before you get into any bath. Tie up long hair so it stays out of the water. Leave your phone in the locker, because phones, cameras and other devices are not allowed in the changing or bathing areas.

Is it worth S$49.05?

It depends on how long you stay. For a 45-minute dip, it is an expensive bath. For a four-hour afternoon of hot water, cold water, steam and a nap in the lounge, it costs about S$12 an hour and compares well with most things you can do in a mall.

As recovery, be realistic. Heat and cold feel good and may help you relax after hard training. The evidence for more than that is thinner than the marketing suggests, and our review of sauna versus cold plunge sets out what the studies show. If you have an injury and not just tired legs, a soak will not fix it. Our list of sports massage and physiotherapy clinics in Singapore is the better starting point.

Anyone who is pregnant, or who has a heart condition or blood pressure problems, should ask a doctor before using hot baths, saunas or cold plunges.

Frequently asked questions

What time does Yunomori Onsen open?

10am to 10pm daily, according to its website.

Jalan Besar Swimming Complex: opening hours, prices and the Tuesday closure

The pool is shut every Tuesday, lap swimmers get three early mornings a week, and an adult swim costs S$1 on a weekday. Here is what to check before you go.

Jalan Besar Swimming Complex opens from 8am to 9:30pm every day except Tuesday, when it closes for the whole day for maintenance. An adult Singapore citizen or permanent resident pays S$1.00 on a weekday and S$1.30 at the weekend. That is the entire price list for most visitors, which makes it one of the cheapest hours of exercise in the city centre.

The address is 100 Tyrwhitt Road, Singapore 207542. The complex is run by Sport Singapore and managed by Jalan Besar Sport Centre on the same site.

Opening hours

| Detail | What ActiveSG lists | |---|---| | Standard hours | 8am to 9:30pm, every day except Tuesday | | Early session | 6:30am to 8am on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, competition pool only | | Tuesday | Closed all day for weekly maintenance | | Tuesday public holidays | Open 8am to 9:30pm | | Address | 100 Tyrwhitt Road, Singapore 207542 | | Phone | 6293 9058 |

Two details catch people out. The first is the Tuesday closure. It is weekly, not occasional, and it applies to all three pools.

The second is the early session. It exists on three mornings only, and only the competition pool opens for it. If you turn up at 6:30am on a Thursday or a Saturday, the gate stays shut until 8am.

The complex is outdoors. ActiveSG warns that outdoor facilities may close in bad weather as a safety precaution, so a lightning warning can end your session with no notice. Check the sky, and the facility closure page, before you travel on a stormy afternoon.

What is there

ActiveSG lists three pools:

one competition pool

one teaching pool

one wading pool

It classes the complex as a normal pool. That is ActiveSG's label for a complex with basic pools and no special water features, so there are no slides, no lazy river and no wave pool here. Families who want those need a feature complex such as Jurong East or Pasir Ris, and a different pass.

For lap swimmers, the plain layout is the attraction. The competition pool is the reason to come, and the early session on three mornings gives it to people who want lengths before the office.

What it costs

Jalan Besar charges the normal complex rate. These are the per-entry prices on the ActiveSG individual rates page, checked on 5 October 2026.

| Swimmer | Weekday | Weekend and public holiday | |---|---|---| | Adult, citizen or PR | S$1.00 | S$1.30 | | Child or senior citizen, citizen or PR | S$0.50 | S$0.60 | | Adult, standard rate | S$1.30 | S$1.70 |

Singapore citizens aged 65 and above enter ActiveSG gyms and swimming pools free. ActiveSG's help site says no pass is needed: scan your NRIC at the entrance.

The standard rate applies to visitors who are not citizens or permanent residents. Even at that rate, a weekend swim costs less than a kopi at most cafes on the same street.

Swimmers who go often can buy a MyActiveSWIM pass, which gives unlimited entry to ActiveSG swimming complexes islandwide. Prices for that scheme change by age group, so check the rates page for your category instead of trusting a number from a blog, including this one.

One trap: ActiveSG sells two kinds of swim pass. A normal pass covers complexes like this one. A feature pass covers the complexes with slides and wave pools. Buy the normal pass for Jalan Besar.

How to get in without a wasted trip

Entry runs through the ActiveSG app. You buy the swim pass on your phone and scan in at the gate, so set the app up before you leave home, not while standing in the queue.

The same app links to a pool capacity check. Use it. A city-centre pool with cheap entry fills up at the obvious times, and the capacity tool tells you in ten seconds what a 30-minute trip would otherwise teach you.

Three more habits save trouble:

Check the day. Tuesday is closed.

Check the weather. Lightning closes outdoor pools.

Check the closure page before a public holiday or a major event, because one-off closures are posted there and nowhere else.

Who this pool suits

It suits lap swimmers who live or work near Lavender, Farrer Park or Little India and want a real pool at a public price. It also suits parents teaching a child to swim, because the teaching pool and the wading pool give beginners water of their own.

It suits a family day out less well. With no water play features, small children run out of things to do sooner than they would at a feature complex.

If you want a pool and a gym in one trip, look at a mixed site instead. Our guide to the rebuilt Ang Mo Kio complex, now ActiveSG Sport Park @ Teck Ghee, covers one that pairs a pool with a 1,000 square metre gym.

Where swimming fits in a training week

Swimming is hard cardio that spares your joints, which makes it a good second or third session for runners and lifters whose knees already do enough. It does not replace strength work, and nobody ever built much bone in a pool.

A weekday swim at S$1.00 plus an ActiveSG gym entry at S$2.50 is a complete training day for S$3.50. If that sum interests you, our piece on ActiveSG versus commercial gyms sets out where the public option wins. For a full plan built around free and nearly free facilities, read how to get fit in Singapore on almost no budget.

24-hour spas in Singapore: the two that are open all night, and what each one costs

G.Spa charges S$88 nett for 24 hours with the buffet included. Bubble House+ in Jurong East charges S$142.68 nett for 24 hours and bills meals separately. Here is how to choose.

Singapore has two large 24-hour spas with published prices. G.Spa on Guillemard Road charges S$88 nett for a stay of up to 24 hours, with a hot buffet included. Bubble House+ in Jurong East charges S$142.68 nett for 24 hours, or S$70.74 nett for 6 hours, and bills meals separately.

The short version: G.Spa is the better deal for a long stay with food. Bubble House+ is the better deal for a short visit, and it is far bigger.

"Open 24 hours" also means less than it sounds. At both venues the doors and the pools run all night. The kitchens do not.

The two venues compared

All prices come from the operators' own price lists, checked on 5 October 2026. Nett prices include service charge and GST.

G.Spa: one price, food included

G.Spa sells one admission product. You pay S$88 nett, and you can stay for up to 24 hours from the time you check in, overnight included. It is a single entry. If you leave, the visit ends, and coming back means paying again.

The admission page lists what the S$88 covers:

a hot pool at 39 to 42°C and a cold plunge at 8 to 15°C

a sauna at 75 to 85°C and a steam room

a snack bar that runs 24 hours, and a hot buffet from 12pm to 10:15pm

relaxation lounges with personal screens, a movie lounge and quiet rest areas

work desks with Wi-Fi and power points

showers, lockers, towels and robes

Massages and facials cost extra. The site lists a 60-minute body massage for first-time guests from S$138, and reserves massage treatments for guests aged 16 and above.

The spa sits at Guillemard Village, about 7 minutes on foot from Mountbatten MRT on the Circle Line, and has 80 parking spaces on site.

What 24 hours means at G.Spa

The pools, sauna, lounges and snack bar are the all-night part. The hot buffet is not. It closes at 10:15pm, and the G.Spa website lists a supper menu from 10:15pm to 4am. If you check in at 11pm expecting dinner, you get supper.

So time your entry. Check in at about 6pm and one admission covers a soak, the buffet, a film, a night's sleep in the lounge and a morning soak. Check in at midnight and you have paid the same S$88 for the quiet half.

Rules worth knowing

Children aged 3 and below are not allowed in the wet areas. Families with children under 8 need a private VIP room, which the admission page prices at S$30 an hour. Pregnant guests may not use the pools, sauna or steam room.

There is also a cheaper route for some people. NTUC's UPlay site lists a G.Spa 24-hour admission voucher at S$68 for UPlay Premium members. It is valid Monday to Thursday only, excludes public holidays and their eves, and needs a reservation two to three days ahead.

Bubble House+: bigger, newer, priced by the clock

Bubble House+ is the complex that launched in February 2026 and was widely reported as House+ Bubble. It is at 1 Venture Avenue, #01-02, Perennial Business City, about 8 minutes on foot from Jurong East MRT. Press reports put the investment at S$45 million and the first phase at about 4,600 square metres.

Its price list, dated September 2026 on the operator's website, works differently from G.Spa's. You buy time.

| Ticket | Adult | Child, 12 and under | |---|---|---| | 6 hours | S$70.74 nett | S$34.77 nett | | 12 hours | S$106.71 nett | Not listed | | 24 hours | S$142.68 nett | S$58.75 nett | | Hourly, weekdays 2am to 2pm | S$15.47 nett | S$11.87 nett | | Hourly, all other times | S$23.86 nett | S$11.87 nett |

Children aged 3 and under enter free. The price list says base admission stays the same at weekends and on public holidays. The cheaper hourly rate does not apply on public holidays.

Admission covers the soaking pools, with four in the men's bath and three in the women's bath, plus saunas, showers, bathrobes, a lounging area, capsule pods, a reading cave, an esports room and a cinema. It also covers free-flow fruit, drinks and ice cream.

Watch the overtime rules

This is where the bill grows. Adult overtime is S$23.86 nett an hour. Stay more than 2 hours past a 6-hour pass and you are charged for a 12-hour pass. Stay 2 hours or more past a 12-hour pass and it becomes a 24-hour pass.

Set an alarm on your phone before you fall asleep in a capsule pod. A nap can cost S$36.

Meals are separate

The buffet is open only to guests with an admission ticket, and each sitting is limited to 2 hours.

| Meal | Hours | Adult price | |---|---|---| | Breakfast | 7am to 9am | S$22.78 nett | | Lunch | 11:30am to 2:30pm on weekdays; 11am to 3pm at weekends | S$70.74 nett | | Dinner | 5:30pm to 9pm | S$94.72 nett | | Supper | 11:30pm to 1am | S$34.77 nett |

So a 24-hour stay with dinner and breakfast costs S$260.18 nett for one adult, against S$88 at G.Spa. The price list also shows package combos, which may cut that figure. Check them on the operator's rates page before you book.

Buying breakfast or supper on its own comes with one hour of free entry, according to the same price list. For a night-shift worker, supper plus an hour in the pools for S$34.77 nett is the cheapest way in.

The rough start, for the record

The complex soft-launched on 21 February 2026 and closed its bathing pools on 3 March after complaints about hygiene, facilities and pricing. News sites reported the closure widely, and many of those articles still rank in search.

They are out of date. The operator's current price list includes the soaking pools in admission, and the launch prices in those articles, which started at S$119 for 5 hours, no longer apply. We have not visited, so we cannot tell you how the pools are now. Read recent reviews before you go.

Which one to pick

Pick G.Spa for an overnight stay, for a long layover, or for any visit where you plan to eat. S$88 covers the bed, the baths and the buffet.

Pick Bubble House+ if you live in the west, want more space and more things to do, or only have a few hours. A weekday morning soak of two hours costs S$30.94 nett.

Pick neither if what you want is a serious cold plunge and a sauna for an hour after training. Our guide to the best recovery clubs in Singapore covers venues built for that.

Late-night is not the same as 24-hour

Most "24-hour spa" lists pad the count with massage shops that close at 2am or 4am, and many of those lists have not been updated in years. A shop that shut at 4am in a 2024 article may keep different hours now, or none.

The same goes for bathhouses. Yunomori Onsen at Kallang Wave Mall, for example, lists hours of 10am to 10pm.

Who actually needs a 24-hour spa

Three groups get real value. Shift workers whose evening is everyone else's morning. Travellers with a long layover or a hotel check-in that is hours away, for whom S$88 buys a shower, a meal and a place to sleep. And people who want a long, slow evening and do not want to watch the clock.

If your goal is muscle recovery after training, the hour matters less than the method. Our review of sauna versus cold plunge covers what heat and cold can and cannot do. For a sore back or a recurring injury, a late-night massage is a comfort and not a treatment, and our list of sports massage and physiotherapy clinics in Singapore is the better place to start.
