Privacy Policy

Original policy date: August 15, 2022

1. Scope and Contact

This Privacy Policy explains how the TTSMaker team (“TTSMaker,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles personal information in connection with ttsmaker.com, pro.ttsmaker.com, and the related text-to-speech services and official APIs (the “Services”).

The information we process depends on the features you use, whether you create an account, and whether you make a purchase. Browsing or using a free feature does not mean that we collect all the account or purchase information described below.

Contact [email protected] with privacy questions or requests. We process information on the applicable legal basis and obtain separate consent where required.

2. Information We Process

We process the following categories where relevant to your use of the Services:

  • Account and authentication information: account identifiers, email address, information needed to authenticate you, account preferences, and information received from a sign-in provider when you choose that method.
  • Text and related service content: text you submit, selected voices and generation settings, generated audio, saved project data, and optional materials such as background music you provide through available features, together with the information needed to process, save, and deliver them.
  • Purchase and subscription information: transaction and subscription references, plan, payment status, billing contact information, and related cancellation or refund records. The payment provider or merchant of record identified at checkout handles payment credentials under its own privacy information. We do not directly collect or store full payment-card or banking credentials.
  • Service, authorization, and security records: relevant usage quantities, request and processing events, account activity, agreement and purchase authorizations, and information needed to investigate errors or misuse.
  • Technical and interaction information: IP address, browser and device information, approximate location where available, pages or features used, click and scroll interactions, session and feature-engagement information, timestamps, and identifiers associated with cookies, local storage, or similar technologies, where the relevant tools are enabled.
  • Communications: support messages, feedback, billing enquiries, privacy requests, and information supplied to resolve an issue.

Technical identifiers and activity associated with an account or device may be personal information even if they do not include a person's name. Please avoid providing personal or confidential information that is unnecessary for the service you request.

3. Why We Process Information

We use relevant information to provide and administer the Services, authenticate users, process text and deliver audio, manage plans and payments, respond to support requests, and communicate important service information.

We also use appropriate information to maintain reliability, understand service performance, improve the experience, protect accounts and infrastructure, prevent misuse, comply with legal obligations, and establish, exercise, or defend legal claims. Billing and authorization records may be used to verify transactions and resolve payment disputes.

Access to service content for support, security, or legal matters is limited to the relevant purpose and to personnel or providers who need it. Retention follows the categories and criteria described below.

Where data-protection law requires a legal basis, we rely on performance of a contract for requested services, legal obligations for required records and compliance, legitimate interests where applicable for security, service administration and improvement, or consent for activities that require it. Any reliance on legitimate interests is subject to the assessment and protections required by law.

Before a materially different use of personal information, we will provide the information and obtain any permissions or other lawful basis required by applicable law.

4. Cookies, Analytics, and Advertising

We use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies for purposes such as authentication, security, preferences, measurement, and, where applicable, advertising. The technologies and providers may differ between the free website and paid services.

Depending on the website and features used, analytics or advertising providers such as Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity, Mixpanel, and Google AdSense may process device identifiers, page views, and interaction or session information to measure service use, diagnose usability issues, and display or measure advertising. Some third-party providers may collect information about online activities over time and across different websites or services, subject to applicable privacy choices and legal requirements. Where required by law, we will obtain consent before using technologies that require it and provide an appropriate way to manage or withdraw that consent. Essential service technologies are handled according to the applicable legal requirements.

You may also manage certain technologies through your browser settings. Applicable consent, objection, and opt-out rights remain available. Optional processing that requires consent is subject to the relevant consent choice.

Do Not Track and privacy signals: We do not currently change our website's data-collection practices in response to legacy browser Do Not Track (DNT) signals. This statement does not limit applicable rights concerning other recognized opt-out preference signals, including Global Privacy Control where applicable. Section 8 explains privacy rights and how to contact us.

Our Cookie Policy provides additional information about cookies and related technologies.

5. When Information Is Disclosed

We disclose relevant information where necessary and lawful for the purposes described in this policy:

  • Service providers: providers of hosting, storage, content delivery, speech processing, authentication, security, analytics, communications, and support. Their access must be appropriate to the service they provide and subject to applicable data-protection, confidentiality, and security obligations.
  • Payment services: payment providers and merchants of record involved in the purchase, including necessary transaction, account, support, and dispute information. They may also process information independently under their own notices.
  • Recipients you choose: where an available feature lets you share information or audio, with the recipients or audience you select. A shared link may allow others who obtain it to access the shared material.
  • Legal, security, and dispute matters: relevant information required by law or reasonably necessary and legally permitted to respond to valid legal process, investigate misuse, protect rights and security, or establish or defend claims. This may include disclosure to financial institutions and professional advisers.
  • Business changes: information involved in a lawful transfer or reorganization of the business, subject to applicable safeguards and notice or consent requirements.

We do not sell your personal information. Where applicable law treats certain advertising-related disclosures as “sharing,” the relevant transparency and choice requirements also apply.

We do not publicly publish your submitted text or generated audio without your direction or permission, except where disclosure is legally required. Service-provider processing and other disclosures remain subject to the purposes and conditions described above.

6. Retention, File Availability, and Deletion

We retain personal information for the period needed for the relevant purposes and applicable legal requirements. Retention depends on the feature, the nature of the information, the applicable purchase or account arrangements, and any necessary legal or security retention:

  • Temporary synthesis text, generated files, and download links: Available for the processing, delivery, and temporary storage period disclosed for the relevant feature. Download links may expire, and temporary files are not permanent storage.

  • Saved projects: Project text, settings, and associated project data may be retained separately from temporary synthesis files to provide the saving feature you use, according to its disclosed retention settings or criteria. Deletion, account status, and applicable retention requirements affect how long they remain.

  • Optional background music and other ancillary materials: Retained for the period disclosed for the relevant feature or plan. Their storage and expiry arrangements may differ from those for temporary generated audio and saved project data.

  • Account information: Retained as needed to maintain the account and resolve outstanding account matters, then deleted or anonymized subject to lawful retention requirements.

  • Transaction, subscription, and authorization records: Retained as necessary for applicable accounting requirements, purchase administration, fraud prevention, and legal or payment-dispute periods.

  • Usage, security, and diagnostic records: Retained for the period needed for service administration, troubleshooting, investigation, security, and the relevant lawful purpose.

  • Support and privacy correspondence: Retained as needed to resolve the request, document its outcome, and meet applicable obligations.

  • Backups: Copies may remain until backups expire or are replaced under the applicable backup cycle, with access and use restricted to appropriate recovery, security, and legal purposes.

Applicable feature-specific storage commitments continue to govern the relevant content. Saved project data and temporary generated files can have different retention periods. Retention of limited billing or usage records does not require indefinite hosting of Inputs or Outputs. Exceptional retention for a particular legal or security matter must be necessary, limited, and lawful.

Keep your own copies of content you wish to retain. You may request deletion by contacting [email protected]. We may request limited information to identify the relevant records and verify your request. Where deletion applies, we will delete or anonymize the relevant information and address copies held by providers acting for us, subject to applicable lawful exceptions.

Subscription cancellation and personal-information deletion are separate processes. Necessary transaction records may be retained after either process as described above. Continuing rights to lawfully generated audio do not require us to host files indefinitely.

7. International Processing and Security

Infrastructure and service providers may process information outside your country. Processing locations depend on the services and providers involved.

For transfers requiring a legal mechanism, we use an applicable adequacy framework, appropriate contractual safeguards and any necessary additional measures, or another mechanism permitted by law. Contact us for relevant information about processing locations and safeguards.

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures appropriate to the information and risks to protect against unauthorized access, loss, and misuse. No system or transmission method is completely secure. We address security incidents and any required notices in accordance with applicable law.

8. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location and the processing involved, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of your personal information; restrict or object to processing; withdraw consent for future consent-based processing; and exercise applicable advertising, sale, or sharing opt-out rights.

Where provided by law, you may request review or contest a decision based solely on automated processing that has legal or similarly significant effects. You may also complain to a competent data-protection authority and use any applicable appeal process.

Send requests to [email protected]. We may verify identity or authority proportionately before disclosing or changing records. We will respond within applicable legal time limits and explain any lawful exception or extension. We will not unlawfully discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.

Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal. Where particular information is necessary to provide a feature, we may be unable to continue that feature without it.

9. Age Requirements

The Services are intended for users who meet the minimum age and capacity requirements in our Terms of Service, including a minimum age of 16 or any higher age required by applicable law.

If you believe a child who does not meet those requirements has provided personal information, contact us so that we can assess the situation and take appropriate action. Any legally required parent or guardian involvement must be handled in accordance with applicable law.

10. Updates to This Policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes in the Services, processing activities, or legal requirements. We will provide appropriate notice of material changes and obtain any additional consent or other authorization required by law.

The current policy is available on the relevant service pages. Material changes will be communicated through an appropriate service notice or other applicable channel.
