The October round of ACL ARR is just setting off. Is it just me, or are people seeing tons of papers that 1) do not fill 8 full pages (e.g., sometimes have 7.5 pages or even only 7 pages), but have 10+ pages of appendix?
Is this a normal thing people do now?

I guess I get the idea of this, potentially. But this is really too many hoops to jump through if you collaborate with domain experts who never use openreview.
I feel I am spamming coauthors for all the various requirements needed to submit and publish a paper.

This is so weird. I dont even get why this update was made. Won't everyone just put EMNLP? Is the hope that people with low quality papers select AACL? Is AACL okay with that?

Hmm.... EMNLP and AACL have the exact same deadline.
I was hoping the deadline would be later. Now there is no chance to resubmit any papers that don't make the cut for EMNLP. If we get unlucky with noisy reviews in May, will papers need to sit until 2027?
