Privacy Policy
Last updated 29 October 2026
Writing Studio Ltd (trading as “Writing Studio,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose and safeguard information when you use our website and app at writingstudio.com and app.writingstudio.com (the “Service”).
Our registered office is Suite 11381, 17B Farnham Street, Parnell, Auckland 1052, New Zealand.
In short
- Your content is yours. You own your articles, and we don’t sell them or your personal information.
- Nothing trains AI. We don’t use your content or your Search Console data to train AI models.
- Read-only Search Console. We can see your search data, never change anything in it.
- Keys stay locked. Passwords and keys for your platforms are encrypted, and used only to publish.
The details are below.
1. Information we collect
- Account information. When you create an account, our authentication provider, Clerk, collects your email address and, if you sign in with Google, basic profile information from your Google account.
- Your websites. When you add a site, we read its public pages and sitemaps to learn what it offers and to suggest internal links. If you add competitors, we read their public pages and sitemaps too.
- Search Console data. If you connect Google Search Console, we receive read-only access to the search performance data of the properties you choose: queries, pages, clicks, impressions, click rate and position. We store a refresh token, encrypted, so the Service can update your insights and plan.
- Publishing connections. If you connect a content management system (WordPress, Webflow, Framer, Shopify or Ghost), we store the address and the key or password you give us, encrypted, and use it only to publish and update the posts you approve or schedule.
- Your content. Plans, drafts, articles, images and settings you create in the Service are stored in our database and file storage.
- Usage and billing. We record how many articles and refreshes you use against your plan. If you subscribe, payments are handled by Stripe; we do not receive or store your full card number.
2. How we use your information
- To provide the Service: study your site, plan, research and write articles, create images, and publish them to your connected platforms
- To show your search insights and find posts losing traffic
- To authenticate you and enforce plan limits
- To process payments
- To communicate with you about your account or the Service, including a few emails in your first days to help you get started and, now and then, product updates and offers. You choose which of these you get, or turn them all off, in Settings or from the link in each email
- To maintain, secure and improve the Service
- To comply with legal obligations
We do not sell your personal information or your content, and we do not use your content or your Search Console data to train AI models.
3. Google user data
Writing Studio’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
We request read-only access to Search Console (the webmasters.readonly scope). We use this data only to show you insights about your own sites and to plan and refresh your content. We don’t use it for advertising, we don’t sell it, and we don’t let people read it except with your permission, for security purposes, or to comply with the law. You can revoke access at any time from Integrations in the app or from your Google Account’s third-party access page.
4. How we share information
We share information only with the service providers needed to run Writing Studio:
- Anthropic: processes the information needed to study your site, research topics on the web, write articles and design their featured images
- fal: draws the illustrations in featured images, with OpenAI’s image model, from a short description of each article
- Google: Search Console data you connect, and Google sign-in
- DataForSEO: keyword research (how often things are searched, how hard they are to rank for, and which pages rank), from your site’s address and topics, never your personal details
- Clerk: manages sign-in
- Neon: hosts our database
- Vercel: hosts the Service and stores files such as images
- Stripe: processes payments
- Resend: sends our emails to you
- Sentry: receives reports of errors in the Service, without your content or personal details
- Framer: hosts our website, writingstudio.com
- Your connected platforms: receive the articles you publish to them
We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety and property of Writing Studio, our users or others.
5. Cookies and analytics
We use cookies that the site and app need to work, such as keeping you signed in. On writingstudio.com, analytics cookies are only set if you accept them, and we use them to understand traffic in aggregate. We do not use cookies for advertising. Our pages load fonts from Google Fonts, so Google may receive your IP address with that request.
6. Data retention
We keep your information while your account is active. You can delete a site, disconnect a platform or Search Console, or delete your account at any time from Settings. Deleting your account deletes your sites, plans, articles, images, connections and tokens. Posts already published to your own website stay there. We may keep limited records, such as invoices, where the law requires.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under data protection law, including the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020, the California Consumer Privacy Act and, where it applies, the EU General Data Protection Regulation. These may include the right to access, correct or delete your personal information, or to object to or restrict some processing. To use them, contact us at the details below. You may also complain to the New Zealand Office of the Privacy Commissioner, or the data protection authority where you live.
8. Security
Keys, passwords and tokens you give us are encrypted at rest. Connections to us and from us to your platforms use HTTPS. We ask each platform for the least access needed to publish.
9. Children’s privacy
The Service is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16.
10. International data transfers
We and our service providers may process and store information in countries other than your own, including the United States. Where this happens, we take reasonable steps to keep it protected in line with this policy.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be shown by an updated date above, and we’ll email account owners about them at least 14 days before they take effect.
