Scout's reply: it added weeklyTotals to src/pace.js with a test, and all tests pass

Chat

The answer, without the noise.

Each bot keeps one ongoing chat. You see its final reply for every turn; tool calls, thoughts and plans wait in the full conversation when you want them.

Bots

A team of bots on your own computer.

Put bots in a room

Start a group chat and every member answers in its own session. They read each other, disagree and hand work back. Mention one with @ to ask just that bot.

Ship room group chat: Reviewer flags two issues and asks Scout, who adds a guard

Only the pings that matter

A notification when a bot needs you or finishes. Commands and edits arrive as cards: allow once, always allow or deny.

Your data stays home

Agents run on your machine with your own logins. The phone reaches it end-to-end encrypted.

Every agent you already use

Installed agents are found automatically. Anything else in the ACP registry is fetched on first use, and each bot picks its own.

  • Claude Code
  • Codex
  • Cursor
  • Gemini
  • Copilot
  • OpenCode
  • Pi
  • Grok Build
  • and about 40 more

Mac, Windows and Linux

One Rust host runs on all three, on your desk or, on Linux, on a server. Every client talks to the same host, so your bots and chats are the same everywhere.

  • Mac

A menu bar app with a chat window. Pairs your phone and installs the host itself.

  • Windows

The same desktop app, with a tray icon. It runs the host for you; Remote screen isn't there yet.

  • Linux

The same desktop app as the Mac (AppImage or deb), or just the host on a headless server or cloud VM.

  • Terminal

A full terminal UI in the same binary, for SSH sessions and machines with no display.

Fallbacks

Out of usage? Another agent carries on.

When a bot's agent hits its usage limit, gets rate limited, is signed out or won't start, the next agent in its list takes the same turn, in the same chat, with the same memory, folder and tools.

  • Picks up mid-turn

The next agent hears what the turn already did and checks before it redoes a step. The bot goes back to its own agent once that one resets.

  • One rest for every bot

Once one bot finds Claude Code out of usage, every bot skips it until it resets, instead of each one retrying.

  • Always says who answered

A line in the chat marks each switch and the way back. Up to three fallbacks per bot, set in any app or by the bot itself.

Computers

Every machine you SSH into, in one sidebar.

Add a server, a cloud VM or another desktop by its SSH alias. Its bots sit beside your own, grouped by computer, and a new bot can live on any of them. It needs codync-host on that machine; the desktop app on Mac, Windows and Linux connects over SSH.

  • Your SSH, your keys

Codync uses the system's OpenSSH with your keys or ssh-agent. It never asks for a password, and your keys stay on this computer.

  • Checked host keys

The first connection shows the host key to confirm. A changed key, or a different computer at that address, blocks the connection.

  • On your phone too

Pair your iPhone with any of them from the same screen. Each computer approves each device itself.

Everywhere

On every surface.

You don't have to keep the app open to know what your bots are doing.

Dynamic Island

The same activity beside the camera while you're in another app. The orb turns into a check when it's done.

Privacy

Private by design.

The phone is a remote for a computer you own. Nothing about your work passes through anyone else in the clear.

Your data stays home

Bots, transcripts and memory live on your Mac, Windows PC or Linux machine. Agents run there with your own logins. No cloud copy of your files or conversations.

Tailscale, Wi-Fi or the internet

On the same Wi-Fi or a Tailscale network the phone connects to your computer directly. Anywhere else it goes through the free relay, and you can run your own.

End-to-end encrypted, even the pings

Every message is sealed between your phone and your computer, so the relay only forwards ciphertext. Notification text is sealed to your phone's key too; the push relay never sees what your bots said.

Compare

Everything Grok Bot and Muse do. Open source, with any agent.

Codync is a 1:1 alternative: the same bot-based way of working, rebuilt in the open so it isn't tied to one model or one subscription.

Same features

  • Persistent, named bots with their own instructions and project
  • Group chats where bots answer in turn and read each other
  • Bots asking each other for help
  • Approval cards: allow once, always allow, deny
  • Per-bot memory that carries across sessions
  • Routines on a schedule or a webhook
  • Remote screen: watch and control the computer from the phone
  • Voice calls with a bot
  • “Needs you” and “done” notifications

What's different

  • 100% free, no hidden fees

Apache 2.0 licensed. No subscription, no paid tier, no in-app purchases.

  • Any coding agent, over ACP

Speaks the Agent Client Protocol, so Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Gemini, Copilot and 40+ more just work, with the logins you already have. Mix them in one room.

  • Built in Rust

One small, fast binary hosts every bot. Bots, transcripts and memory stay on your computer; the phone reaches it end-to-end encrypted.

  • Mac, Windows and Linux

The same host runs on macOS, Windows and Linux (a static binary on any distro, desktop or headless server). All three get the same desktop app, with a menu bar or tray icon and a chat window.

  • On every screen you have

A native SwiftUI app on iPhone, a desktop app on Mac, Windows and Linux, and a terminal UI over SSH.

Questions

Short answers about price, setup, agents and your data.

Is Codync free?

Yes. Codync costs $0 with every feature included, and it's Apache 2.0 licensed. You pay only your agent's provider, through the plan or key you already have.

Can I bring my own Claude or ChatGPT subscription?

Yes. Codync runs the agents already signed in on your computer: Claude Code with your Claude plan, Codex with your ChatGPT plan, and so on. It never calls a provider's API with your login.

Which agents can it run?

Any of them: Codync is agent-agnostic. Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Gemini, Copilot, OpenCode and about 40 more through the Agent Client Protocol registry. Each bot picks its own.

How do I start?

Install Codync on the computer your agents run on and create a bot. Then sign in on your iPhone with Apple, Google or GitHub and pair it by scanning the code from the Mac menu bar, the Windows or Linux app, or codync-host pair.

Where does my data go?

Bots, chats and memory stay on your computer. Your phone reaches it directly on the same network, or through an end-to-end encrypted relay anywhere else, which can't read your messages. Your agent's provider receives the prompts the agent sends.

Do I need an account?

Yes, a free one: the apps ask you to sign in with Apple, Google or GitHub. It lists every computer on your account on your phone. An account alone never unlocks a computer: you still pair in person by scanning a code, or approve a 6-digit code on the computer.

Which computers can run it?

A Mac, a Windows PC, or a Linux desktop or headless server. The iPhone app and the terminal UI over SSH talk to the same host, and the desktop app on Mac, Windows and Linux adds other machines over SSH, with their bots in the same sidebar.

What happens when my agent runs out of usage?

Give the bot fallbacks and the next agent in its list, say Codex after Claude Code, carries on with the same turn, chat, memory and folder. The bot goes back to its own agent once that one resets. Without fallbacks, the chat offers to add one.

Is it safe to let bots work on my computer?

Bots act with your permissions. When an agent asks to edit files or run a command, the request comes to your phone to allow once, always allow or deny. Give bots work you trust, and keep backups.

Install

Install once.

Put Codync on the computer your agents run on, then pair your phone from it.

Mac

Open Codync and it starts the host itself. Or install with Homebrew:

brew install --cask leepokai/codync/codync
Download for Mac

Windows

Run the installer and Codync starts the host itself. The installer isn't signed yet, so Windows asks you to confirm it once.

Download for PC

Linux and servers

The host, plus the desktop app when there is a display. Then run codync-host install.

curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/leepokai/Codync/main/packaging/install.sh | sh
