The effect is that when mainnet full node snapshots are extracted, they need:

tar -xf SNAPSHOT_FILE

SOLUTION: For the script that is creating each of the snapshots, can we use the following across all of them:

tar -czf xdcchain.tar XDC

That would make all of them extractable with the same flags.

If the creation script is being updated anyway, zstd would also be a nice improvement for download size…

Issue 3

Mainnet full and archive node snapshots contain a single folder "XDC" that contains all the necessary chain files.

Apothem full and archive node snapshots do not contain the XDC directory but look like they have been created one level down the tree such that the root directory of the tar file is the CONTENTS of the XDC directory instead of being encapsulated in an XDC directory like the Mainnet snapshots.

This is conisistent with the path specified in the snapshot creation command for Mainnet snapshots being:

tar -cf xdcchain.tar XDC

And for Apothem snapshots being something like:

tar -cf xdcchain.tar XDC/*

Solution: When the snapshots are created, always wrap the contents in an XDC directory:

tar -cf xdcchain.tar XDC
tar -cf xdcchain_archive.tar XDC

If new clients supercede the geth client, then the above issues may no longer be relevant. In the lead up until then, if it is possible it would be great to just make those tweaks (as long as its not going to break infrastructure elsewhere).

In the past twelve months, central banks from London to Beijing have picked the deposit token, not the stablecoin, as their preferred form of on-chain money. The pilots share three needs: ledgers that talk to each other, confidentiality for bank data, and ISO 20022 messaging. XDC's enterprise stack was designed around those same three.

What a deposit token is

A deposit token is an ordinary commercial bank deposit recorded on a distributed ledger instead of the bank's internal books. The holder keeps the same claim on the bank, the same deposit protection and the same regulator. What changes is the rail: the money can settle around the clock and move only when a programmed condition is met.

The name comes from a 2023 paper by Oliver Wyman and J.P. Morgan's Onyx unit. Central banks usually say "tokenised deposit". Both terms describe the same instrument.

The policy signal is as important as the transactions. The Bank of England has said it would rather see banks innovate with tokenised deposits than with stablecoins. China, the country with the most advanced retail CBDC, chose to route digital money through bank balance sheets instead of around them.

Three requirements every pilot ran into

Read the pilot reports side by side and the same three engineering problems appear in each.

Ledgers must talk to each other. Banks have run private blockchains for a decade, but each built its own, so tokens could not leave the issuing bank. The UK project matters because it is interbank. Agorá needed one shared ledger for deposits plus a separate ledger per central bank. No single chain will hold every bank and every currency.

Bank data must stay confidential. A bank cannot publish customer balances and payment flows on a public ledger. The Agorá findings state that privacy has to hold at both balance and transaction level, while regulators keep the access they need.

Payments must speak ISO 20022. Swift completed the bulk of its cross-border ISO 20022 migration in November 2025, and the standard now carries the compliance and remittance data banks rely on. Swift's own blockchain ledger, ready for use since 9 July 2026 with 17 banks, keeps that format. On 24 September, IBM released an adapter that lets banks instruct tokenised deposit transfers with standard ISO 20022 messages.

A platform that solves only one of the three cannot carry deposit tokens at scale.

Why XDC's enterprise stack fits

XDC answers each of the three requirements with a dedicated component, on a public Layer 1 that is EVM-compatible and secured by validators that have passed KYC.

Interledger: XIM connects the ledgers banks already use

The XDC Interledger Messaging Protocol (XIM), published in September 2026, is a chain-agnostic protocol for carrying one canonical message across different networks. It targets public chains, permissioned ledgers, institutional networks and authenticated gateways into existing financial systems.

Its key design choice is that verification is set per lane, not once for the whole network. A corridor into a central bank ledger can demand stronger proof than a low-value corridor between two subnets. That matches how deposit tokens will work in practice: bank ledgers, central bank ledgers such as Pontes or the wholesale e-rupee, and Swift will coexist, each with its own trust model.

Privacy layer: transactions stay inside the bank's network

XDC Subnets give a bank or consortium a permissioned chain of its own. Subnet transactions are not visible on the XDC mainnet. A relayer checkpoints the subnet's consensus data to a mainnet smart contract, so the record is tamper-evident without exposing its contents.

XIM extends the same principle across ledgers. Its privacy model is commitment-based: a message carries hashes of the payload, the compliance metadata and the privacy policy, while the underlying data moves only through authorised channels. Counterparties and supervisors see the details. The public network sees a proof.

ISO 20022: the token carries the data banks already produce

XDC's architecture lists ISO 20022 messaging systems as a designed integration point, and XIM names ISO 20022-compatible payment workflows as a target use. The paper describes gateways that take an instruction from an existing financial rail, commit to it without publishing its contents, and route it to XDC or another ledger.

For a bank this means no parallel data model. The payment instruction its systems generate today can drive the token movement, and screening and reconciliation keep working on the same fields.

How the pieces fit

Each bank keeps its ledger private. XIM moves the payment message between banks and into the central bank's ledger, and the mainnet records only checkpoints.

A deposit token payment on XDC, step by step

This is an illustrative flow for a payment from a customer of Bank A to a customer of Bank B, built from the components above.

Issue. Bank A records the customer's deposit as tokens on its own XDC subnet. The money remains a deposit on Bank A's balance sheet.
Instruct. The customer orders a payment. Bank A's payment system produces the same ISO 20022 instruction it would send today.
Commit. Bank A's subnet debits the tokens and emits a XIM message. Only hashed commitments leave the subnet.
Route. XIM delivers the message to Bank B's ledger under the verification policy set for that lane.
Credit. Bank B credits its customer with its own deposit tokens, so each customer always holds a claim on their own bank.
Settle. The two banks settle the interbank position in central bank money, through the RTGS system or a wholesale CBDC.
Anchor. Both subnets checkpoint to the XDC mainnet, which gives auditors and supervisors one tamper-evident record.

The customer sees a payment that completes in seconds at any hour. The banks keep their data, their compliance process and their message format.

What still has to be proven

The case for XDC is architectural today, and three things have to follow before it is proven in production.

A live bank pilot. None of the programmes listed above has named XDC as its platform. XIM is a published protocol design, and it needs a regulated institution to run real value across it.
Central bank connectivity. A deposit token is only as good as its settlement leg. Lanes into systems such as Pontes, the wholesale e-rupee or Hong Kong's tokenised central bank money have to be built and accepted by those operators.
Legal certainty per jurisdiction. Agorá found settlement finality achievable in all seven participating jurisdictions, but said further work is needed on operational and contractual requirements. The same applies to any new rail.

The direction of travel is settled: regulators want on-chain money to be bank money. The open question is which infrastructure carries it between banks, privately and in a language banks already speak. That is the problem XDC's interledger, privacy layer and ISO 20022 support were built to solve.

Last year, 2025, I kept my xdc in my xdc wallet. I just tried to check it via my ledger flex and the xdc is no longer appearing. I checked the address and the xc is still there but when I connect to xdc wallet via my ledger none of the addresses (see image) contain my xdc.

I really need help on this, what has happened? I used to log into my xdc wallet and everything would be fine there.

XDC Masternode Backup and Migration Procedure for v2.6.8 and Later

Hi everyone,

I would like to confirm the backup and migration procedure for an XDC Masternode running v2.6.8 or later.

Previously, I personally backed up coinbase.txt as well. However, since v2.6.8, the contents of coinbase.txt have been empty, so I understand that there is no longer any need to back up this file.

At the moment, I believe the important files to back up for an XDC Masternode are:

the UTC--... file inside the keystore directory
.env, if necessary

My understanding of the migration procedure to a new server is as follows:

Set up XinFin-Node on the new server.
Wait until synchronization is complete.
Replace the UTC--... file in the new server's keystore directory with the one from the original Masternode.
Update the .env file if necessary.
Confirm that Docker has been stopped on the original server.
Restart the Docker container on the new server.

Is this procedure correct?

Also, since coinbase.txt is empty in v2.6.8 and later, is my understanding correct that there is no need to migrate or back up the empty coinbase.txt?

In particular, I would like to confirm the following three points:

Since v2.6.8, there is no need to back up the empty coinbase.txt.
When migrating an XDC Masternode to another server, the UTC--... file inside the keystore directory is the important file that needs to be backed up and restored.
.env should be backed up if necessary.

Could you please confirm whether my understanding is correct?

From token creation to liquidity rewards on XDC: a practical BBBFi guide

Disclosure: I am sharing this as part of the BBBFi team. This guide explains the current workflow and its boundaries so XDC builders can evaluate it before connecting a wallet. The interface also supports BNB Smart Chain, but each operation is chain-specific.

1. Create a fixed-supply token

Open Create a token on XDC, select the network, and enter a name, symbol and total supply. Advanced settings expose decimals from 0 to 18; the default is 18. Review the parameters before approving deployment in your wallet: they cannot be changed afterwards.

BBBFi charges zero platform creation fees. The creator still pays network gas in XDC or BNB and receives the entire supply. The template is a non-upgradeable ERC-20 with fixed supply, no additional minting, no token tax, no administrator, no blacklist and no pause control. The compiler input/source is publicly available.

Creating a token does not create liquidity or automatically add it to the public token list. In particular, a freshly created BSC token is not automatically enabled in the trading interface; the applicable listing checks still matter.

2. Understand the token-and-logo listing threshold

In the swap or liquidity token selector, open Add my token, check the selected network, enter the contract address and attach a PNG, JPEG or WebP logo. Images must be at most 256 KB and 1024 by 1024 pixels. Name, symbol and decimals are read from the contract rather than supplied as marketing text.

Anyone can submit for automatic checks. Qualification requires strictly more than USD 1,000 of independently valued XDC/BNB-side liquidity in BBBFi pools on the selected chain. Liquidity on unrelated DEXs does not count. The new token's self-quoted value is excluded; the native side is not doubled into an assumed total TVL.

For example, a pool with USD 600 of verifiable native-side value does not qualify merely because its displayed two-sided value is USD 1,200. Exactly USD 1,000 does not pass the strict threshold either. Existing logos cannot be anonymously overwritten. Listing is a discovery feature, not an audit, ownership certificate or endorsement.

3. Create a BBB liquidity reward campaign

Open Community reward pools on XDC and select Create reward pool.

Choose two tokens and the eligible BBBFi V2/V3 pool, including the V3 fee tier when relevant.
Set a positive BBB reward budget and a UTC start/end schedule.
Review the pool, network, funding amount and dates before wallet approval and creation.

The creator pre-funds the BBB budget. Campaign creation is permissionless: there is no owner-only creation gate. Start time must be at least 10 minutes and at most 30 days ahead; duration must be between 1 and 365 days.

No upfront liquidity deposit is required just to create the reward campaign. Missing pools can be prepared empty, but an empty pool is not automatically tradeable: price initialization and usable liquidity are still needed where applicable. The reward token is BBB; this is not an arbitrary-token or unconditional wallet airdrop.

Participants stake eligible liquidity. V3 direct staking requires the selected pool's full usable tick range. Scheduled campaigns do not accept entry before the start; ended campaigns stop new entry while retaining withdrawal and earned-reward claim paths.

4. Manage liquidity and review the swap route

The liquidity workspace brings V2/V3 positions and sortable pool information together. Smart DEX routing supports qualified split and mixed V2/V3 routes across BBBFi pools on the same chain, with a direct-route fallback.

This is bounded routing, not a promise to search every DEX or guarantee the best net-of-gas execution. Review the selected route, each pool's fee, price impact, minimum output and gas before signing. There is no additional platform swap fee; underlying pool fees and gas remain.

Supported reward campaigns also offer single-token Easy entry. This can swap within the selected pool, add liquidity and stake through a user/campaign vault. Native XDC/BNB entry is available when the pool contains the corresponding wrapped-native asset. Initial approvals may be required. Reward claims are separate from principal withdrawal, and LP/NFT withdrawal is available without requiring conversion back into a chosen token.

Before using real funds

Verify the network, contract addresses and token behavior. Fixed supply and public source do not make a token or protocol risk-free, and source verification is not an independent security audit. Liquidity providers face price changes, impermanent loss, smart-contract risk, slippage and gas costs. APR is variable and returns are not guaranteed. Permissionless campaign creation is not platform endorsement.

For builders reviewing the workflow: are the native-side listing threshold and the distinction between campaign creation, liquidity provision and reward eligibility clear? Specific feedback on those boundaries would be useful.

A focused pilot for your community

Running a community or building a project? Start with one task and one network. BBBFi’s community guide connects token creation, liquidity exploration and existing BBB-funded reward campaigns.

Browse pools first, then decide whether to connect a wallet or transact. Creating a token does not automatically create liquidity, secure a listing or provide rewards. Choose a small group, record the steps that are unclear and review the feedback before expanding.

Where XDC actually swaps: comparing routes across 30+ sources

Short post about something that kept annoying me while working with XDC.
When you want to move XDC in or out, the rate you get depends a lot on which venue you go through, and there is no single place showing that side by side. Some instant exchangers quote XDC and some
don't. Bridges quote it sometimes. The spread between the best and the worst route on the same pair is not small.
So we built a screener for it. It queries 30+ sources - DEX aggregators, bridges, instant exchangers - for one pair and sorts them by how much you actually receive after fees, gas and the provider's spread. There is no account and no registration, and it never takes your funds: you pick a route and the swap happens on that provider's site.

A few things worth knowing if you try it:
Coverage moves. Not every provider quotes XDC every day, so a route that was there yesterday can be missing today. We show what is actually quoted at that moment rather than a static list, which is
less pretty but more honest.
Quotes are indicative. The number you see is what the provider returns to the quote endpoint - the final amount is whatever they execute at.
Happy to hear what is missing. If there is a venue that quotes XDC and we are not pulling it, tell me and I will look at wiring it in.
One unrelated thing while I am here: we opened a PR to the xinfin.org site repo back in August adding EIDEX to the get-xdc exchange cards (PR #49 in XinFinOrg/Official-XinFinOrg). It has no conflicts and follows the existing markup. If someone knows who looks after that repo, a nudge would be appreciated.

How it works (simple)

You lock XDC for a time. Longer lock = stronger claim on that week’s dApp fees.

Think of it like a tip jar that dApps fill. Every week the jar is split among lockers. People who locked more and longer get a bigger slice.

Example 1 — same money, different lock

Three people each put in 1,000,000 XDC. This week the tip jar has $100,000.

A dApp (like a DEX) sends some fees into veXDC.

Important: there is no “print money” token.

If dApps put $0 in the pot that week, everyone earns $0 — even max lockers.

On Apothem you can try a fake fee run from the app (Admin → Simulate revenue), then claim from your position.
