In a small randomized trial, a steroid injection given during glaucoma drainage-device surgery didn't lower eye pressure any further. But 10 of 19 injected eyes developed late low eye pressure, vs 0 of 20 without it. 7 needed another operation. 🧵

In advanced glaucoma, a standard OCT thickness scan can hit a "floor" and stop showing change. A new 4-year study of 333 eyes found faster loss on blood-vessel scans (OCTA) tracked with vision getting worse. A useful signal. Not proof OCTA is better. 🧵

Could a tiny implant placed during cataract surgery replace years of glaucoma eye drops? A new randomized trial of 149 eyes found it lowered eye pressure more than cataract surgery alone at 3 months. Promising. But "replace drops for years" isn't proven yet. 🧵

Can polluted air affect your eyes? A large review presented at ESCRS 2026 reported up to 70% higher odds of glaucoma in the most vs least polluted areas. But "70% higher odds" does not mean a 70% chance of getting glaucoma. Here's what the evidence shows. 🧵

1/ Did a gene therapy just restore lost vision in glaucoma? The first human ER-100 results say 2 of 3 people had visual-field gains at Day 56. It's an intriguing signal. It is not yet proof that lost vision came back. 🧵
