About me

Hi! I'm Yeonji ✿

Hello! I'm Yeonji, living in Busan, South Korea 🇰🇷 I'm an indie hacker and a language learner who loves to travel and create new side projects. I also enjoy playing the haegeum as a hobby!

I want to help you learn Korean in a fun and natural way, just like chatting with a friend. As a language learner myself, I know how it feels to understand a lot and then freeze when it's your turn to speak — so we'll practise speaking from day one.

Since I create mobile apps and websites, I bring my own digital tools into our lessons: slides that react as you answer, clips cut to the exact sentence, and a shadowing page you can loop line by line.

Let's learn Korean in a relaxed and fun way! 😊

  1. Like chatting with a friend

Relaxed, conversational lessons. You talk a lot, and mistakes are welcome.

    주말에 뭐 했어요? 😊

    친구랑 부산에 갔어요! 🌊

    와, 저 부산 살아요! 뭐 먹었어요?

  2. Tools I build myself

I make apps and websites, so lessons come with my own tools — like this shadowing player.

  • If you want a sweet, supportive tutor who makes learning Korean a blast, book Yeonji! She customizes our lessons around things I actually enjoy, like my favorite K-pop artists, which keeps me so motivated. She’s helped me bridge the gaps in my learning and finally understand how to build real sentences. I feel ten times more confident speaking and studying Korean now. Five stars! 늘 밝은 미소와 따뜻한 마음으로 가르쳐 주셔서 감사해요.

How lessons go

Here's a real lesson. Click through it.

These are slides from an actual first lesson — Korean dessert trends and the 요 ending. Click the slide or use the arrow keys. Cards flip when you answer, just like in class.

  1. 1

First lesson: get to know you

We chat, I check your level, and you tell me what you want Korean for. No pressure if you are a total beginner.

  2. 2

    Slides built around you

Every lesson has a deck made for you — a topic you like, one grammar point you can actually use by the end, and lots of speaking.

  3. 3

    Real Korean clips

Short pieces of real videos, cut to the sentence, so you hear how people really speak — speed, slang and all.

  4. 4

    A review page after class

You get the words, sentences and corrections from that lesson to look back on before the next one.

Between lessons

Practise with my shadowing tool

Shadowing = listen to one sentence, then say it back right away, copying the rhythm. My students use this between lessons. Try it on a real Korean YouTube video: loop a line, tap a word, say it out loud.

Tap any word to see what each part means. Press ↻ to loop a line with a pause to say it back.

  1. 겁니다.

From now on, I'm going to live as a game addict for one week.

  2. 14시간씩 될지.

What exactly happens to your body if you do nothing but game for 14 hours a day?

  3. 12시 40분이고요.

For reference, it's 12:40 right now.

  4. 14 겁니다.

I'll put a timer on screen that can't be adjusted, and fill 14 hours every day.

  5. 최대, 물어봤거든요.

Before starting, I asked the gamers around me who play a fair bit how many hours they'd game at most in a day.

  6. 10시간은 같아요.

Even at the very least, I think it goes over 10 hours.

  7. ?

    In a day?

  8. 네, 평균적으로.

    Yes, on average.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Something else? Email me — I reply within a day.

I’m a complete beginner. Is that OK?

Absolutely. We start with 한글 (it takes a few lessons, not months) and you’ll be saying real sentences from the first lesson. I explain in English.

Where do lessons happen?

Online, on a video call. After you book I email you the link and everything you need for the first lesson.

What if I need to move a lesson?

Tell me at least 24 hours before and we’ll find another time that week. Life happens — I’d rather move a lesson than have you miss it.

How does billing work?

You pay once every 4 weeks — that’s exactly 4, 8 or 16 lessons, no half-weeks — and keep the same weekly time(s). You can change plans or cancel any time — cancelling stops the next payment and you keep the lessons you’ve paid for.

What’s the refund policy?

If the first lesson isn’t right for you, email me within 7 days of it and I’ll refund your first 4 weeks minus a flat $12 for that lesson — for example $67 back on the 8-lesson plan.

Do you teach anything besides conversation?

Yes — grammar, pronunciation, TOPIK prep, reading webtoons or song lyrics, writing messages to Korean friends. Tell me what you need and I’ll build lessons around it.
