Dexter 1.2 is a huge step forward in search capabilities for ExpressionEngine. It now supports native LLM features available in Meilisearch and Algolia to batch index documents and images, was well as providing descriptions of such files.

Last July we announced a change in how add-on licenses are managed, moving license management from boldminded.com to expressionengine.com accounts.

In order to modernize DataGrab, version 6.0 is going to introduce a few breaking changes. The upgrade script will attempt to migrate the import settings as much as possible, but depending on which custom fields are used you may need to edit existing import configurations and reset the configuration for custom fields. While this may necessitate some manual work, it shouldn't be too time consuming.

What's Changing? ExpressionEngine has recently introduced support for license validation for third-party add-ons. As a result, BoldMinded will be migrating all license validations to expressionengine.com.

TLDR; Attempts at getting Publisher to support the Fluid field have ended. Publisher will not support Fluid.

PHP 7.4 is currently at the end of life, and yesterday PHP 8.3 was released, and 8.1 is about to go into security fixes only. It's time to move on from legacy versions of PHP.

December 3, 2018 was when work started on Publisher 3. Ten months later it is finally released.

Last December I tweeted about the beginning of Publisher 3.0. A few months have passed, so an update is due.

ExpressionEngine 3 will be at end-of-life on December 14th, 2018. Therefore, all BoldMinded add-ons will no longer be supported in EE3.

Yesterday I tweeted an image of what appears to be a Grid field inside of Bloqs, and that is true, to some extent.

While the sales of new licenses of Publisher 1 has been disabled for several months, the renewals were still active. A few customers have renewed to get the latest version because they have been unable to upgrade to ExpressionEngine 3. It was a little confusing to end support of Publisher 1 but also continue to sell renewals, even though the last few versions of Publisher 1 have been very stable and very few bugs reported. To remove the confusion, and to accelerate the move away from EE2, renewals have now also been disabled.

It has been a very long time coming, but it is finally here. Publisher 2 for ExpressionEngine 3 is now available for download.

While I'm working to get a Publisher 2 beta out the door, hopefully (fingers crossed) in the next 2-4 weeks, I wanted to give everyone an update on the status of Publisher 1.x for EE2.

Awhile back I had mentioned on Twitter that October was the target release date for Publisher, but due to a very busy few weeks at my day job to re-launch a new website I was not able to work on Publisher as much as I had hoped. The good news is now that things have returned to normal I've shifted my focus again to Publisher and want to reassure customers that I am dedicated to releasing Publisher for EE3 as soon as I humanly can. Ideally I'd like to release it in November. I know a lot of you have been waiting for the release for some time and I apologize for the delay, but there are only so many hours in a day and I am a team of 1.

Custom System Messages is finally ready for ExpressionEngine 3, but with one draw back. You can't use it until EE 3.2 is released.

ExpressionEngine 3 is around the corner, which means devs are scrambling to upgrade their add-ons. Here are my plans:

On November 1st, 2015 Devot:ee will increase their take on all sales from 20% to 30%. To offset this increase, All BoldMinded add-ons will increase in price accordingly. Prices will be adjusted just enough to offset the additional 10% increase to keep our revenue per add-on sale about same as it was when Devot:ee took 20%. For instance, Publisher will increase from $175 to $200, which means we still recieve $140 per license sold.

I've been thinking about this for months now, every time an obscure bug report comes in I tell myself I'm going to stop selling it.

As many of you know ExpressionEngine 2.7 is on the horizon. What that means is there will be many people still using the 2.5 branch, a few brave people using 2.6 and some even braver people jumping to 2.7. It also means that there can effectivley be 3 different relationship fieldtypes in play depending on which version you're using (old relationship field, new relationship field, and Playa).

In the summer of 2011 I tweeted about a very large project I was working on, victaulic.com, and included screenshots and even a video demo of an add-on I created for it to allow for publishing workflow and translations. At the time there was nothing like it for ExpressionEngine 2, thus I had to build it from scratch. The result was a module called Uhura.
