HPSF at SCA/HPCAsia: Strengthening the Open Source Ecosystem in Japan
Birds-of-a-Feather, SCA/HPCAsia 2026, Osaka, Japan
HPSF maintained a powerful presence throughout SCA/HPCAsia in Osaka this January. On January 28th, fellow governing board member Julien Bigot and I delivered a lightning talk at the Exhibitor Forum, highlighting the foundation’s mission to unify the software stack for the exascale era. This was supported by a dedicated HPSF booth on the exhibition floor, expertly managed by Chris Clark from the Linux Foundation with the help of numerous foundation partners. The week showcased the depth of the HPSF ecosystem, with well-attended tutorials for Kokkos, Spack, and OpenCHAMI proving the growing international demand for our projects. We capped off the conference on January 29th with a dedicated Birds of a Feather (BoF) session; following a presentation by Julien and myself, I joined a lively panel discussion moderated by Todd Gamblin (HPSF Governing Board Chair) to discuss the future of sustainable, open-source HPC software.
