** EasyDoc
Inspiration
The idea for EasyDoc came from the need to streamline and modernize the healthcare industry. Patients often have to deal with paper documents and standalone portals that result in a clutter of documents, which can be time consuming and error prone to manage.
What it does
We wanted to create a solution where patients have a decentralized profile on EasyDoc and are able to view healthcare documents from doctors of many different specialties and approve HIPAA-compliant release procedures to allow seamless and secure delivery for those documents between doctors of different specialties
How we built it
We utilized the MERN stack (MongoDB, Express, React.js, node.js) to build a full stack application that manages user logins, view patient and doctor dashboard, and request and view document releases.
Challenges we ran into
One major challenge was leveraging a MongoDB cluster into the front end, as we had trouble connecting the database to our project. We had to jump through multiple firewall and network hurdles before we were finally able to fix it.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The UI was put together very neatly and concisely shows all the information to all users without issue.
What we learned
Our entire team learned fullstack development, whether they were working on the front end in React or managing the database and API with JS and MongoDB + Express.
What's next for EasyDoc
Develop extra procedures to allow for a large pool of patient profiles and develop business model to deploy this application to doctors and healthcare institutions around the world.
