1.About the Project

Embolo was born from a simple observation: the pharma supply chain in India is one of the country’s largest industries—yet chemists and wholesalers still rely heavily on manual, outdated processes. As founders, we watched chemists create handwritten slips, make dozens of phone calls to compare prices, and wait an entire day for medicine deliveries. Wholesalers, on the other hand, struggled with manual billing, thousands of product entries, and unorganized returns. We knew this could be better.

Inspired by this problem, we built Embolo — India’s fastest, smartest B2B pharma supply platform that connects chemists and wholesalers through automation, real-time inventory, and 2-hour guaranteed medicine delivery. Our mission is simple: Digitize and streamline the pharma supply chain so both chemists and wholesalers grow together.

2.What We Learned

Building Embolo taught us how fragmented and unorganized the pharma distribution ecosystem really is. We learned:

How deeply chemists rely on recurring restocking (2–3 times/week).

Why wholesalers need unified tools instead of juggling multiple apps for billing, ordering, and returns.

The importance of logistics in a market where delivery speed equals customer trust.

3.How We Built It

We started by interviewing chemists and wholesalers in Chandigarh to validate real pain points. Then we developed:

A unified mobile app for stock management, billing, inventory tracking, and returns.

A marketplace engine that matches chemists with wholesalers based on price, availability, and discounts.

A 2-hour delivery workflow supported by our logistics layer, something no SaaS-only competitor offers.

A digital expiry/returns management system, completely absent in the current ecosystem.

We built, tested, redesigned, and refined directly with real chemists and vendors—ensuring the platform solves real operational challenges.

4.Challenges We Faced

Like any meaningful startup, we faced major challenges:

Replacing long-established manual habits with digital workflows

Designing a system that handles 10,00,00+ SKUs with accurate pricing and stock levels

Building real-time logistics that guarantee 2-hour deliveries

Overcoming trust barriers among chemists who were used to traditional methods

Managing data consistency, especially around tracking expired and returned stock — Highlighted across pages describing manual systems & inefficiencies

Despite these challenges, Embolo is now live with over 500+ downloads, 10+ vendors, and rapidly expanding within Chandigarh.
